Oh hell, I'm 51 and still haven't given up lol. Gotta be willing to change with the times, that's all. When I first started studying music licensing 15 years ago, it was a proprietary world of jingles, ring tones and "on hold" music (unless you knew an insider in the film industry). Now things are comparably much easier, and I have no doubt that I can start generating income again, thanks to guys like Jesse (who is the absolute BEST! Trust me, he's about the sixth teacher I've had in the sync licensing profession).
Hey, I did music up to the early 80's ( I was 21) and then I just stopped. I got back into music 5 years ago, got my degree in Audio Production, and started really getting into Sync Licensing last year. I just turned 59. It's never too late.
Thank you Jesse! For putting up your videos and videos like this one! Your an inspiration to us all. Specially to us musicians that have never even thought about music licensing. 😎🎼🙌
I'm not looking for a big music career. I just want rekindle my drive for writing and performing, and to allow it to take me wherever it may lead. If that's the total sum of a few compliments and a pat on the back, that's great. I'm 55 for God's sake. The high aspirations have disappeared along with my libido. We should hold onto our dreams, but we have to be realistic.
Dude your eyes are captivating
Thanks for the inspiration jesse
Sometimes we work so hard to go in a direction that requires so much sacrifice, time and energy that we wind up just flustrated when things don't work out .....that's when you know it time to travel in a different direction and most times you'll be glad you did.....
Great Video!!! Thanks For Your Motivation.
Great video. Thanks.
Great reminder!
Another great motivational video! Thanks again, Jesse!
Desperately chasing rapper and singer collaborations is not always the way to go.
Good word Jessie ! I feel like I been to church..........lol I plan on sharing my age with you as soon as I get my first contract !! hahahahaaa
I cannot wait!
Thanks for this. I have always had a passion for music, but did a career before. Company pulled out of South Africa and made us all redundant and due to certain legislation it meant I was basically no longer employable. So I took that as an opportunity to focus on music. Couldn't get a band with reliable like minded people with the same degree of focus and am now doing my own thing. However I do multiple genres and have always wanted to get into the exact market. I will look at your videos as I have not made much progress. I have had two tracks shortlisted. In between working on my next album, I am also putting time into tracks more aimed at film/TV as I feel my odds would increase the more product I have. Finding places to put the music has been tricky so looking forward to your course. Thank you!
This is great. Thanks for sharing this information with us. I have enjoyed some decent musical success over the years, and now I am very much looking forward to putting all that technique and experience to work for getting more licensing. What little I have done without trying has shown me that this is a viable way to go into older years. I am currently binging on all the information I can as I plan for an all-out business expansion.
Glad you're seeing the potential of sync licensing - it's one of the best industries to work in!
Keep putting out videos and inspire aspiring musician like me, sir...You are definitely one of the people that made me realize the possibilities...Unable to join you’re program yet, but leaning towards it...But want to let you know that your time management videos did so much to me and other inputs you put out...For now, my goal is to hustle and gig regularly and eventually try to do this...Thanks for your time, sir...Will keep watching your content...🔥👌🏼🎶
Glad you're encouraged Chris and I appreciate your kind words - keep up the hard work!
Hail my brother. nuff blessings to you mon...reggae artist reality culture originally from 🇯🇲 Jamaica naturalized 🇺🇸 us citizen reside in Florida saying without any apology you are one of the best in the business. dj reality too much blood in the street... that's my first video on RUclips check it out and bless up urself again mon one love.
This is reassuring, I kind of thought I’d missed the boat at making money off of music after coming out of a band.
I was wondering, if you submit an album to a library, is it best to have all of the tracks going down the same emotional narrative (happy, uplifting etc.) or have slightly different moods in groups of songs? (Say 3 are uplifting and another 3 are more sad)
Usually you should have the same emotional narrative throughout an album.
Thanks Jesse, loving Sync Academy so far.

You’re doin Christ’s work man
Certainly not on that level, but I appreciate the kind words!
Course!!
lol so youre esentially telling people to give up on their voice because you did, and sell them selves to making cheesy jingles for master cheff, sounds like packing it in to me, i'd rather have a day job and come home knowing i was making my own unique music.
Doesn't sound like something I would recommend to my subscribers, but instead perhaps your interpretation of my message (which of course you're entitled to). This isn't an industry suited for all producers, but just from personal experience I've never had to make music I hated or felt I had to "sell out" to succeed. I create rock, pop, edm & orchestral tracks (genres I LOVE!) to serve a marketplace willing to pay me for my effort/time. This has been a very fulfilling industry to work in.
