Let me start off by saying that this video took on a life of its own fairly quickly. It’s one of the few times an idea has gotten away from me and evolved into something else that I didn’t anticipate, but something popped into my head and I ran with it. I’ll get there in a minute. My first stop on the Strip was any of the casinos. According to someone on the internet, all casinos have the same odds of winning, which was good. I wanted the worst odds possible and I didn’t even have to put any effort into making that happen. So I went to the Tops and noticed that if you have no weapons, you can tell the receptionist that you aren’t carrying any weapons. I never knew that was an option.
There are 3 games you can play: Blackjack, Roulette, and Slots. From my experiences playing Blackjack every day at lunch in 7th grade with my friends, one of whom played and was the dealer at the same time and always seemed to win for reasons none of us put together at the time, Blackjack is the only game that has some skill involved. Knowing when you should stand or take another card. The problem is that with Luck at 1, strategy and skill pretty much goes out the window. At first I was surprised, I actually managed to win a few hands. Then things took a turn for the worst and I lost 2800 caps in about 5 minutes. And you can’t abuse quick saves to cheat the system. Obsidian thought of that and added a 60 second cool down period inside the casinos if you load a quick save.
It was abundantly clear that Blackjack was a dead end. Like if you get a 4, a Queen, and an Ace, obviously you’re going to hit again. Then you get another Queen and you lose. That’s pretty much every hand. You can also see “You feel unlucky” appear in the top right corner of the screen, it happens a lot, actually. Now you might be thinking that I’m playing like a moron. And maybe you’re right. I always hit or stayed. I never surrendered because I’m not a little bitch. So Blackjack is worthless. [Blackjack at 37:00]. I tried the Slots next. This is where I really expected to win it big.

Technically, you get a unique dialogue option, but the guy at the door doesn't change his response, since the "smooth and easy" reply can technically work in context even if you're handing over nothing.

When I went from casino to casino to get the "The Courier who Broke the Bank" achievement, I had to cut the sound at one point cause that slot machine sound was driving me nuts
It might be possible, though it would require multiple hours, to cause a Stack Overflow in the Tops Earnings, where you lose so much money that it loops around and becomes a positive value, causing the game to suddenly think you have won billions of caps and ban you on the spot.

As Ian mentioned, it'd be an integer overflow, but I liked the idea, so I looked into it. If the max bet is 75, and Paul's right about it taking 5 seconds per bet, then it'd take about 4.5 years to lose enough for it to wrap around ...
... if it's an int32. However, it seems that like many other scripting languages, Fallout NV's scripts actually store "ints" as floating point numbers. Not sure if they're single or double, but it doesn't really matter; either way, the min and max values are massive. But it wouldn't even reach those limits, since once you get up into the big exponents, the gap between each representable number gets bigger than the 75 that we're subtracting; eventually (x - 75) == x, so the number stops decreasing before it even reaches that limit.
Anyway, really liked the idea. If they'd implemented their scripting language slightly differently and used true ints, I reckon it would've worked.

Here’s a suggestion that is probably way too much work:
Get your hands on a blackjack playing AI. A good one. Then use the game state from New Vegas as inputs and let the blackjack AI tell you the correct course of action.
I wonder, would that work? The game stacks the deck against you with low luck, so the risks associated with playing are not the same. However, I don't know if the next card is generated when you make your choice, or if it is predetermined - that would make a difference, too
perfect blackjack play already favors the house very slightly. with luck 1 i'm pretty sure no amount of skill will help.
B00G3Y M4N you know regular black jack is played with like a 7 deck shoe so you can get the sane card twice in a row in real life too
a blackjack computer wouldn't work, and here's why:
The game uses an algo weighing your luck against a seperate ratio for min and max luck, then it determines the card, at that specific moment. outside of legit RNG manip through an invasive Hex editor, you ain't got a chance.
I was actually experimenting with just winning fairly at black in five myself with a luck of 1, I managed to complete gammora in 3 hours, not very timely but doable. Will update if I get it

Pffff 60 second timer to stop save scamming is a joke. Might as well remove it altogether.

here is a strategy that while time consuming will eventually work. Set aside 3000 chips only and go to a roulette table. Save before starting and the max amount on a single space on the board. While the chances are especially low if you keep betting on any one space that is not 0 (that one is bugged) you will eventually win and capping your funds at 3000 means you will be able to make enough to get you kicked out but likely you can put in more caps for more attempts as resetting each time you lose can be tedious especially with the 60 second wait time that is usually filled with the bodies of casino patrons. Either way this is something I have done with a character at 1 luck even though it took me like 4 hours and is a mindless way to get enough money for you to get kicked out of any casino at any luck rating as all you need to do is win once and you are done.
Yeah I did this with my low-luck first character just to get the achievements. It's completely doable, just put on some Netflix or something.
To make slower but steady progress I split the max bet across 2 or 4 numbers, and to minimize the time sunk by save scumming I would continue to bet until the amount I lost surpassed the amount I would win from a single play, and then reloaded to my last win.

Actually, you should only do that if the dealer has a seven or higher. There's a statistically "correct" strategy that says that much.
But with your 1 luck, the dealer is effectively _always_ showing a 7+.

I found Gommorah a good place to bet. The dealee has to hit at least 17 so they go bust semi-regularly. Allows you to keep at a low value and not get screwed by the RNG to much. Still probably not possible to get banned but the game was rigged from the start 🎲.
Dealers play soft 16. They must draw to 16 and stand on hands 17 or higher. If a dealer first draws a 10 card (value) they can easily meet 16. If they have a card less than 5 odds of busting are significant. A strategy for a player is hit on hands lower than 10 double on hands of exactly 10 and splitting hands of perfect 20 aiming for hands of a value of at least 17. Black jack offers a 1/1 return with a 1/1.5 return on blackjack it’s one of the few games weighted in favor of the player

Hold up, actually the spinning wheel on Roulette in New Vegas is accurate to the results that will be shown. So if you reload the save before the screen starts to pan back from the wheel the cool down timer will not start and you keep your caps. Now you can rig the game from the start.
Does murdering the employees and getting shot at count as being banned? I would say so. So you can, in fact, get banned from a casino with 1 luck.

@@NA-zs4xi Let's look at the numbers quick. Just the simple ones.
You bust with a 7, 8, 9, 10, jack, queen, or king (7 different cards, 4 of each).
You don't bust with an Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 (6 different cards, 4 of each).
Even if you don't count that two of those "don't bust" cards are in your hand right now or the fact that getting less than a 3 puts you in almost the same situation, you STILL have a more than 50% chance of busting. You're much better off just staying and hoping the dealer (who can't stop at less than 17) will bust. Even hitting at a 13 is probably more risk than it's worth because of all the 10s, but I'm not a professional or anything.

@@bradlauk1419 the dealer has to hit anything below 17 (or whatever the house rules are) so in 15s situation your taking the choice between a medium chance of winning with a statistically higher chance of losing vs a low chance of winning with a medium chance of losing. It depends on how much you want to hedge your bets. With the houses advantage of always knowing what it needs to get to already being against you it's a mixed bag. personally I see an 8-ace I'd probably hit I see a 2 I'd probably stay make them work for it.

actually you can, it just takes an incredible amount of time and an incredible amount of saves and reloads (Don't quicksave/reload, but close down the game and restart it as that is faster.)
From what I understand roulette should be pretty straight regardless of luck, it's actually just roulette no hidden math like BJ and slots, so you're just trying to beat the house. But as we all know the House always wins

Theoretically, you could wear Lucky Shades, Naughty Nightwear and have the effects of the Early Bird trait and the Meat of Champions perk active (giving you a total of 6 in luck). Before you're kicked out from the casino, make sure to unequip and have the effects wear off before the dudes initiate the dialogue to kick you out, resulting in you having +1 luck when it happens. A real pain in the bum though.
Smart work around, but it ultimately defeats the point. Its not a 6 luck challenge, its a 1 luck challenge.

You can get kicked out in one game if you bet max on zero and win. So it’s possible, it would just be a matter of time
luck affects your odds of winning in every game. With 1 luck it's possible you wouldn't win at all. With a luck of 10 I still couldn't get roulette to cooperate. I tried hedging with outside bets, but it still ended up being basically pointless to play it instead of slots or blackjack which have much more reliable winning streaks with 7+ luck.

It is possible. Roulette allows you to bet on black or red. Every time you bet, you double your bet. If you go there with a lot of money then you starting bet would be big. Meaning that you will certainly win amount of you starting bet over several spins.
Repeat it enough times and you will be kicked out.

Bet 2 on black in roulette. If lose bet 4 on black. If lose bet 8 on black. And so on until you win. When you win - start with 2 again.

With low luck you'll want to stay at 16+ and surrender at 12-15 as you'll almost always get a face card if you hit.
this is a challenge? i just scum saved. it took days for every casino, but i did it. for every playthrough.
Don't surrender in BJ. Surrendering is a trap. You GIVE away half your bet. Like if you have $50 on the table you tell the casino, "Have this $25 gift."
Don't buy insurance either.

According to the law of large numbers, the more observations there are (in this case, the more you gamble in the casinos) the closer your actual results will resemble the expected results. In other words, creating the program to bet for you did nothing.

No. You have to initiate conversation with Yes Man after going to the Eldorado substation. There might be other instances where you need to, but I know for a fact that he won't trigger conversation after that part. And the other sides have a lot of mandatory conservations, Yes Man has the fewest

6:15 You win 2250 caps..... So you did win more than 375!
You should’ve done this challenge at the Vicki and Vance because their ban limit is thousands of caps lower than any other casino in the game at only 2500 chips. That means you’re orders of magnitude more likely to reach the ban limit with a Luck of 1. On top of that, you get 20 free chips for winning a total of 625 chips at the Vicki and Vance. The process may be the same, but the end goal is a lot closer.
Funny enough, that’s exactly what I did for my playthrough!! And I got kicked out of all casinos by betting two numbers on exactly the opposite side in roulette...cleaning them out easily

Elen Feresu I mean, it was pretty easy to figure out, he just gave up too quick, for someone who would go through the lengths to set up an automatic key presser, you’d think he’d be better at finding game exploits.
When I made my character I didn’t expect to do any gambling so I didn’t put anything in luck, but I tried my hand at it, and quickly summarized that at luck 1, the dealer always cheats at blackjack, nothing lines up at the tiger machine.
So the only option would be roulette where the ball will ALWAYS land on SOMETHING, you just gotta guess which one, and with two bets of 100 caps at the opposite sides, you can limit how far the ball can actually be from a winning bet, with each win you get 3500 caps, so you essentially get 17 tries if you start with that exact amount, which is honestly very good odds. Once you win something you get 17 extra tries.
With enough patience and maybe a few saves beforehand, you easily clean out any casino in the game. To a point where caps cease to matter to you. But this did come in handy in the casino at Sierra Madre, since the chips can be used to get many items for special crafting like the caravan lunch. And if you clean them out, the BOS bunker will generate thousands of chips every few days, which guarantees a steady source of items for the future.
When you’re trying to gamble with a computer, your odds are always dictated by math. So you just gotta solve the math problem. When you can give yourself 17 tries with my method, and the board only have like 38 numbers? Your odds are close to 50/50, of course I mean you have 50 percent chance of winning 3500 caps with 17 tries. I’m not a mathematician but it’s a easy problem, it only takes some time to think about, so that’s why I get the achievements for getting kicked out of everywhere, and Paul of mitten squad gets frustrated and say “It is totally impossible to get kicked out of a casino with your luck at one”
@@andylagger551 This is some hick math, bruh. 17 tries at 200 per bet should cost you 3400, and pay out 3132 on average at a fair table. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but that doesn't make it reproducible.

Theoretically, it's possible. You would basically need to "All-in" one of the most valuable spots in a Roulette game. While severely unlikely, of course it's theoretically *possible* to score big on one of these early before any losses. Best way to test this would be to always bet on a random, high-value number until it wins, simply to prove the game does allow for 1 Luck characters to potentially win a max bet placement in Roulette.
Once this is proven, it's simply a matter of comparing the total win amount to the amount that gets you kicked out. I highly doubt, for example, that this would be enough to be kicked out of the Ultra Luxe, but would likely be enough to get you kicked out of Primm. I also know from experience that the Sierra Madre seems to nerf player luck a bit, so if for example a 6 Luck character can reliably win in a normal casino, then in the Madre, it needs to be at least 8 or it'll feel like pulling teeth trying to make a profit. The Madre also has the highest limit to how much you can win, so it's very likely that specific casino is legit statistically impossible for 1 Luck characters.
As such, it would be a "yes and no," where it's only possible in *some* casinos, and even then, a 1 Luck character that managed to do so would be the equivalent of finding a unicorn: stupidly rare.

If you saved after every jackpot and reloaded after every loss, after a very long time you’d be able to be kicked out of a casino at 1 luck.
You should have done it in the Omerta Casino, you need to reach a smaller amount of money to get kicked (supposing that you wanted to do it strictly in one of this three casinos), but you could also have done it in the casino where is a roller coaster, or one at Freeside.
Didn't make much of difference since he was unable to get above zero, let alone in the thiusands required to break the bank on any casino

Doesn't matter. He was always at a loss of money. You have to earn money for the lower cap to get kicked out to even matter.

In my opinion, the fastest way to get kicked of a casino is to do a quick save, bet 400 caps and if you fail, do a quick load, if you don't fail, do another save quick.

It's not that hard, but it's not a good speedrun strat. It's how I played the game. You miss out on a lot of quests and can't use power armor, but you can get really good weapons early. Focus on melee and stealth and use NCR salvaged armor as soon as you can get it. You'll need just enough range skill to get through the Bison Steve fight, and explosives if you want to fight any of the animal bosses. Wipe out McCarren to get to the strip.
IIRC, you can kill everything in the game except Yes Man. You just need to be high enough level to survive the big fights.
I did this before, it's not hard and the only problem is stims. Well until you get the "thems good eatins" perk and just eat blood sausages.

I got kicked out of all the casinos with one luck it took me a while but you definitely can. I didn’t use glitches ether just saves and some patience
