After you apply the rotoscope effect, click the video clip once. The effect properties box should open up. Then in the Project Monitor you should see two things. The border of the monitor will turn yellow, and you'll get a text prompt about how to set the points of the shape. If you do not see this, click the icon below the project monitor which looks like a rectangle with a slash through it. This will then put the project monitor into "Edit" mode. In this specific case, you can instead apply an Alpha Shapes mask.
