I just resuscitated a 2015 boosted dual+ that had been unused for about two years using a version of this method. I spun both back wheels together with the tires of a powerful hobby grade RC car. Amazing, thank you!
I tried this trick... After a couple of tape belts I got the hang of it. I did it on both wheels 10 or more minuts each. Then I charged it again, but it did not work, instead I got another error light saying there is a battery failur (the second one) and that I have to change the motors (the last one). But I am stuburn, so intead of using a drill I used another E-board to spin the wheels, put them belly flipped against a wall, hold them and spun the wheels back and forward for about 5 minuts. Charged it again, and guess what ? It worked !!!! Thanks for the tip SimsP ;)
This is a brilliant idea. I tried it with a battery powered drill and it just turns the wheel too slowly. A modification on the idea was to use a belt sander. I took the sanding belt out and put the rubber wheel on the belt sander (that drives the sanding belt), directly against the Boosted board wheel (no need to make any belts out of duct tape, etc.). It took about a minute with the belt sander to get the charge up to a level where the Boosted board charger started working. The belt sander spins the Boosted board wheels at about a million revs a second. Thanks for the great idea.
Thank you so much!! I was able to revive my Boosted Board after years of laying dead. Had to try it before dismanteling it and trying to change the batteries. I’m extremely happy, thank you so much!!!
Solid video and advice, fixed me right up! This can happen when the battery fully discharges, and using the drill to trigger regen/juice back into the battery allows it to trickle-charge to where the Boosted Board electronics will allow the power brick to work. Good stuff, thanks again!!
Great idea. Tried it just in case it might work. But I verified that my Stealth has the actual Red Light of Death code flashing. There are multiple codes to trip these darn boards, and in your video your steady flashing lights fortunately did not = RLOD. Glad this worked for you. Retiring the Stealth after 3450 miles.
ok i think this trick works. was flashing red constantly. spun it for 8 minutes and got weird mix of green, red, and flashing red, so i knew it had some effect. spun it for another 10 minutes and now it's solid red, so I believe it's charging. pretty interesting trick, will let it sit overnight to see if it juices up. i let my board go dormant for ~8 months after a mechanism in the remote busted. tl;dr - charge your board!! i used gaffer tape for my 'belt' and tbh i found it's so rock solid that i could probably replace a car belt with it in a serious pinch. thanks dood, i hope my board is fixed tomorrow 8)
Thanks!! I thought it was the charger. I just jumped my friends board with mine. Had both rear wheels moving but the dead one was going full in reverse.
Thanks for the suggestion SimsP. Have you every seen an issue where the charging brick keeps power cycling? When I plug my board in to charge the brick light keeps going on and off. Ever run into something like that?
This is the 2nd time this is happening to me. How do I charge it? I use my trusty Yuneec Ego to spin its wheels. Seriously? Am I the only one who feels ripped off spending over $1699 on a board that's not as reliable as a $300 Yuneec? The worst part is I was just about to put it up on Bay-E. Ive had nothing but trouble with my Boosted...from Day 1. What a gip.
UPDATE: Sold the Boosted to some other sucker. He didn't leave me a positive feedback so I'm guessing he wasn't able to jumpstart it either. Bought the #Yuneec Ego2. It's a bit more nimble than the #Ego Cruiser gen 1.Other than that, it has the same features: you can still charge your phone from it, it'll control easily at super slow speeds (Great for school cuz I can talk with friends who walk or go around people crowding the bus stop), and the BEST wheels for the sidewalks of Los Angeles. Besides the Ego2, I bought a Sansui with the rest from the boosted sale. SOOOO glad I got rid of it. I will NEVER stop touting how good Yuneec boards are.

munterboy Take the money and run! People don't realize Boosted is a start-up from San Francisco. Boosteds are SPECIFICALLY designed for the hills of SF, where distance is not an issue. It says so on their box: Last Mile Vehicle. But it's unreliable. I live in Los Angeles and I need RELIABILITY, RANGE, a CHARGING PORT for my phone and an easy to control CONSTANT SUSTAINABLE SPEED. The ONLY company that makes a skateboard with these features, that is NOT a start-up, is #Yuneec. #Yuneec Aviation are leaders in the drone industry, have been for years, and they used this experience to make a SUPERIOR product with a SUPERIOR feeling ride. Have you noticed the boosted mini boards copy the Yuneec deck design, but not as well? Whatever. Boosted sucks!! Stay away from start-ups.
Hi Kelly! Yeah I've had this thing for a while, and it's pretty awesome! I'm having a great summer (about to head off to college), and I hope you're doing well too!! Thanks for watching!!
Don’t! This thing sucks. Haven’t even used it that much. Spent $1500 on it for the stealth and this is already happening to me. Not worth the money. Selling mine
Thanks for the hack brother, works great!!! Especially thankful as "Boosted" Tech. Svc. (or whomever is actually responding to my complaints) wasn't even able to diagnose this issue for me after a week of videos and emails. A couple add-ons for ya if you want: "Gorilla Duct Tape" seems to have better tensile strength than most common duct tape ("3M"?), and I only had to use one belt for a maximum of 5min. with a high rev. corded drill in reverse in order to get above the low limit battery threshold. Secondarily, as much as you can, please try and keep the adhesive side of duct tape belt away from the motor and gear teeth if at all possible. The resin adhesive can gum up your motor and belt gear teeth quite a bit without being visible to the naked eye, so just try and keep your belt closer to the leading edge of the wheels when spinning. Otherwise, GREAT...thank you!
What if the battery indicator light doesn't come on at all. My boards only 3 weeks old haven't run into a problem until now. The board is ar 30% so I dont think the battery is defective, but I can't see why the charging brick would be faulty if its basically new.
I spent 30 mins with drills it didnt work but then I put my motorcycle on rear stand and put 2nd gear and put board to back rear tire and gave it gas and it worked ) charging now.
Hello thank you for video ,,, I did this and my battery charged ... and my app showed 100% but is it still blinking red now ... any idea ? The pack is warm and light blinks red when you turn it on...
Makes me wonder if this would work running a wired drill to a wireless drill with a deceased battery, connected with a bit or dowel from chuck to chuck. Hmm.
If you have access to a treadmill is is way easier to bungee the board to the treadmill and just let it run... I really ran my boosted down to almost nothing and I took about 30 min on a running speed on the treadmill to get the board to come back to life enough to plug it in. The wife thought I was nuts, but it worked.
@@simsp4124 okay and its just a v1 so i should ride the board a few hundred yards then try plugging it in. But dont ride it when the light is blinking right? Just ride while its off then plug it in right?
This happens to most electronics with lithium batteries. Phones, drill batteries, laptop batteries, EVs. It's called parasitic discharge as the battery discharges itself after awhile.
Thank you for this tip!
I just ran mine on a treadmill for like 5 minutes and it’s charging fine.
Do you run it with the light on or off?

can I recharge my wireless drill by spinning the boosted's wheels?
Hmmmmm... maybe so... haha

When you run it with the drill do you, push the boosted power button on or off?

I used the back of a xiaomi scooter tire. You can use a lime or rental scooter too. lol
My xiaomi scooter can only be turned on with a push start, how to you get it to free spin with a push of the button?
