    I have a 93’ 940 and I’ve had to rely on Km per refuel to manage my gas for the past 10 years. Thanks so much!

    I'd really like some clear and complete wiring and circuit diagrams for the 740 and 940. Anyone can have them for the 240.

    I did this fix about two weeks ago and it works great! No issues at all with the fuel gauge.

    Thank you so much! Picked up a 940 last week (my first Volvo) and did this today and fuel gauge is now working again!

      Idk what the screw is for but I’m not getting 12v on the one you use for the bypass. Maybe I got to find another screw?

    • @MrDeadline34
      @MrDeadline34 Год назад +1

      I found one but it was always 12volts so I switched it to another one that got 12volts with the key on but then it stopped getting 12v. So I used another one and it did the same thing. I disconnected the bypass wire and know they are getting 12volts again idk what’s going on???

    Hi, what gauge jumper cable do you recommend? Also, how long does the wire have to be? I would like to do this repair but am not sure what gauge of wire to use. Thank you.

    For the temp guage , start with the temperature sensor first.

    Hi Hans, I did this to my Volvo and the fuel gauge does work now but only when I turn on my headlights. What gauge wire do you recommend and does the thickness of the wire matter for this job? Copper wire or can it be a basic wire? Thanks.

      @@hanssgarage1886 Strange its in the middle? I've had a broken temp sensor in my 940 and with that, the needle remains in the "cold" position (to the left). So it's probably an other contact problem in the gauge cluster I think.

    Hans,
    My fuel gauge is on empty. The fuel sending unit and pump are now both out of the fuel tank. The fuel tank is inside my garage. My question is what is actually sending the 'signal to the fuel gauge' when you fill up the tank ? What happens ? Does the sending unit compress or expand inside the tank when you add fuel to the tank ? I want to try and test the sending unit by having my son compress the sending unit. Will compression make the fuel gauge read on E or F ? Letting it go and not touching it, should the gauge read E or F ? - Thanks, Pg

    I have 960 which has problem with fuel gauge too. It shows bit less than quarter of a tank. I've read on 960 it works other way around, 0 to full and 280 to empty, I jumped pins (in the trunk) with wire and gauge jumpd to full. Connectors disconnected gauge was showing empty and low fuel light was on.
    Sooooo, have u have any idea how to fix level sending unit?

    was the gauge completly dead, when i turn mine on it goes just over half way then dosnt move all running time

    • @hanssgarage1886
      @hanssgarage1886  3 года назад +1

      Yes, my gauge was completly dead. With multimeter you can measure the resistance. If it stays at same when you add some fuel you know there is something wrong with the fuel level sensor. Does the warning light work?

    • @lyndenleatherland5384
      @lyndenleatherland5384 3 года назад +1

      Okay thankyou, no warning light for me, when i turn car on the gauge goes up to just past half full and stays there

    • @hanssgarage1886
      @hanssgarage1886  3 года назад +1

      @@lyndenleatherland5384 then i would bet on level sensor. The multimeter and resistance will give you the answer.😊

      @Asterix1022 2 года назад +1

      @@hanssgarage1886 the temp guage issues is actually pretty simple to fix, the most annoying part is finding the voltages and resistance that the coolant temp sensor sends, if you want i can look at my working gauge and try to find out the readings

    • @hanssgarage1886
      @hanssgarage1886  2 года назад +2

      @@Asterix1022 No need, thanks. The problem is the gauge itself. I'm trying to fix it with soldering iron...
