I absolutely love the drift wood color turn out, I'm going to try this on some end tables and coffee table I picked up today.. Thanks for sharing & you two are cute ❤.. Blessings
I'm all caught up!!! enjoyed them all. I'm one of those to Jami I dream of a double car garage, I took over my hubby's so called space for my shop although his mower and yard tools take up way too much space lol!!!!!
I love your technique! I got an amazing kitchen table ($12) at a yard sale in the summer and it really needs some love to make it a great table for my work station.
Which method would you prefer when creating a top for a Handmade island? I created the frame and base for an island in my kitchen but have been totally undecided as to what I wanted to do for the top. What would you recommend? What size wood? Any tips?? Ty. I just love your channel so much. ☺️
I have really been liking oak and alder lately. In the US National wood supply is a great resource for alder. Or you could just go with something like pine. It’s easy to work with and durable enough.
Awesome. Thank you! What width would you recommend? I’m going for 36”wide. And how would you put it together, kreg Jig or biscuit jointer? Just love your videos so much. Found your channel last week and have been binge watching every video. Lol. Thanks for sharing.
If you’re going to be laminating (gluing the boards together side by side) I would stay around 3-5 inches. Much wider than that and your boards can easily warp and split. Also, if you have time, buy your lumber and let it sit in your house where you’ll be using it for 2-3 weeks so it can acclimate. It’ll help it not warp/split and you’ll get a better glue up. -Zeb
Could you guys do a video just explaining for us beginners what's the best finish in your opinion as far as Mat or satin polycrylic for chalk painted furniture? Pretty please lol
+Carla Lee I buff it with 400 grit to smooth out any imperfections in the polyacrylic. It’s mostly to get it really smooth. I biff it really light. I’m not trying to remove the sealer, just smooth it out. Then I wipe any white powder from the buffing off with a damp rag.
Jami, I've tried to find you messenger address and can't find it. Can you send it again. I have pics of the furniture that I talked to you about. Thanks
Es Es yes, we use 1 part Fairy Chalk mother paint to 8-10 parts water. You could do more or less. It all just depends on how strong you want the effect to be.
We’ve used it on a lot of applications, just need to make sure the paint has something to stick to. The ratio we use on our washes is 8 parts water, 2 parts paint. You can go lighter or heavier on the wash depending on how much coverage you want.

SABRINA GONZALEZ thanks!!
I can never get polycrylic to not look streaky on a table top. You make it look so easy!
It took me a long time to discover I needed to put more polyurethane on and then go over it really lightly to get rid of any bubbles and even it out.
As i understood it, The secret is wasting little product to get a nice finish 😉👍👍👍
I love the table...
I always enjoy watching your videos! I like your style! Keep the videos coming.
Love those true confession moments 😂
The 2x4 section was confusing me because I thought the vid was about making a driftwood look finish
That top came out perfect and the set is so stunning 😍 tfs💕
Beautiful make over,

Gina Diefenbach thank you

Sheena Graham yes! We’re also going to cover how to buff it in an upcoming video too so keep an eye out for it! Thanks for watching!
Jami Ray Vintage Yay!!!! Thank you :)
Could you explain the formula (mixture) of your grey wash other than, "dump a bunch of paint in," what is it mixed with and what portions?
9 parts water. 1 part paint. We use fairy chalk mother or DIY brand paints to do this. Usually in a gray or white color. Sometimes black.
You say in the video that after applying the poly you buff the table. Can you share what/how you buff it? Thank you so much in advance.

I love this table and I REALLY love the color of the chairs. What color are they?
Gloria Fields they were a custom mix of Fairy Chalk Mother but very close to BlueGreen. You can buy it on my website www.jamirayvintage.com
Jami, I've tried to find you messenger address and can't find it. Can you send it again. I have pics of the furniture that I talked to you about. Thanks
You can find me on Facebook at Jami Ray Vintage.
Gloria Fields message me on Facebook.com/jamirayvintage
How did you apply the wash? With a rag? Brush?
Beautiful! Do u ever do driftwood finish on laminate?
I’ve tried some faux finishes on laminate with gel stain but I didn’t love it lol.
Could you use the driftwood technique on oak cabinets?
Sure can
How many layers of polycrylic do you do on the table tops?
Rebecca Shupe 4-6
Another beauty!
What color on the chairs?
I’d love to tell you but it was a mix of leftover paints.
@@JamiRayVintage 👌 lol
Where did you get your paint sprayer? What is the brand? Thanks
It’s the purple hvlp from harbor freight. Central pneumatic.
Is the poli matte ?
It’s satin. We use Top Coat now. It’s Matte.
jamirayvintage.com/products/top-coat-sweet-pickins
Do you sand the top after the poly?
We usually buff the top with 400 grit if we find imperfections.
Is the grey wash made with paint?
Es Es yes, we use 1 part Fairy Chalk mother paint to 8-10 parts water. You could do more or less. It all just depends on how strong you want the effect to be.
Love this table what is the ratio for the gray wash? Will this work on a table that isn't solid wood?
We’ve used it on a lot of applications, just need to make sure the paint has something to stick to. The ratio we use on our washes is 8 parts water, 2 parts paint. You can go lighter or heavier on the wash depending on how much coverage you want.
🙋👍👍👍
Is the polycrylic water based?
dcat0603 yes it is
Jami Ray Vintage thank you!!
