An abridged version of this series titled "When the Gods Dance" won the 'Creative Excellence Award' at the U.S.International Film and Video Festival, LA in 1999.
Features Padma Bhushan Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam and Padma Bhushan V.P.Dhananjayan. Dr. Padma performs Kalinga Narthanam, an extract from her Dance Drama "Krishnaya Thubyam Namaha" depicting how Lord Krishna overpowers the giant serpent Kalinga. Dhananjayan, an exponent of both Bharatanatyam and Kathakali performs his most popular Kathakali number "Deiva Karunyam" depicting a folk tale without elaborate costumes.
