The Do’s & Don’ts Of July Lawn Care | Bermuda Lawn Care 2022

How to maintain lawns in July? During the month of July many begin to experience rapid growth stages of southern grass types like Bermuda. With rapid growth the number one “do” is to keep up with the mowing.
Another “Do,” is to make sure you are properly fertilizing your lawn. I recommend going at the 1/4-1/2lb rate of Nitrogen per 1,000 sqft. The “Don’t” is to not over fertilize. There’s zero reason to push growth in July as you will end stressing the lawn out. If your growing grass in the North your lawn may be going back into a slower growth rate or even dormancy if your not irrigated. Definitely not the time to fertilize Northern grass types.
Watering properly and sufficiently is another “Do,” and if your not irrigated and lacking watering from rainfall simply back off the mowing and stay of the lawn.
Here in El Paso, Tx we’ve come to our “Monsoon,” season which really means we get all our statically 9inches of rain in a matter of weeks. This sudden rainfall increases our humidity and is a perfect growing condition for lawn disease and fungus.
