- I found this American bittern in a hay field about a mile from home. Luckily he was on the edge of the field "pumper lunking" and offered up some great opportunities. He was often to close! It's best to listen to the video with headphones or with a system that has a sub woofer in order to hear the full range of sound. © 2012 Garth McElroy. www.wildbirdvideos.com

Bittern, buttercups and clover--couldn't be lovelier.
Wow, we often hear him but he's so good at hiding that we never see him! He's magnificent
This is great! Love the sounds of Maine in summer. I can hear the Green Frogs and Mink Frogs going nuts in the background too.
I had one of these in my bush on the patio this morning. It let me get to within 6 feet of it and I got some great pictures and video. I was a young one at about 17 inches long and just stood there with its head vertical. Not common here at all in Columbus Ohio in the suburbs. Unique bird.
If I had to be any bird, it would be this bird.
great footage not easy to spot these guys. Thanks for sharing
WOW! This is so awesome!!! He kinda looks like a sage grouse all puffed up towards the end of the video. Great footage - thanks for sharing!
