Wow, best analysis I've seen to date on Slot's projected tactical approach and how the existing squad players would suit it. I agree that a mobile CB and No 6 are a priority. FB too perhaps. Yes a more prolific central striker/forward to replace Darwin would be ideal but.....quality strikers tend to be the most expensive to recruit, and we do have FSG for owners! I think Mo would have to be sold for silly Arab money to facilitate this. We shall see. Well done mate. Well worth a share 👍
For me, as a neutral, the most interesting thing will be to see if Nunez can improve under him, not that he's bad but to be more consistent. Also I wonder if he'll play gakpo more, think he does need to start a good run of games ahead of diaz
I think it’s only a matter of time before Nunez improves, although it’s a big problem, the only problem he actually has is his end product. If he can improve on that even slightly, he’ll become a top player under Slot.
Nunez has other problems too. He doesn't use the ball well. A world class striker is not so wasteful or clueless with the ball at feet, constantly giving it away n making poor technical decisions on d pitch
Although Nunez has underperformed since signing, his last season in Portugal he was the most efficient striker in Europe in converting chances, so the ability is there it is up to Arne to bring that out in him!
Excellent analysis & I love that you highlighted the differences between Trent & Geertruida & how they interpret the inverted role as it is very different. I would rather both the No6 & Left-Back positions too - I have watched a lot of Quilindschy Hartman recently & out of all Slot’s Feyenoord players, I think he would be the one I would take (I know he is recovering from a long-term injury), as the way he plays the left-back role is very nuanced & complex; I am not sure at this stage Robertson or Tsimikas could adapt to that. The forward line is probably the area which concerns me the most if I am honest but that is for another day.
Cheers for the kind words mate. Hartman is definitely another LB option we could get, my only concerns is of course his injury. At 22, he's already missed over 70 games through injury, and that's not good at all. Could/ will develop into a top player, but I don't think I'd want to take the risk. especially considering the Premier League is alot more physically demanding. Abit cliche, but if he can stay relatively injury free, it's a player I'd 100% consider! The forward line is going to be an interesting one for sure. I don't think anyone can accurately predict what's going to happen with it. Appreciate your comment bro.
Yet again another bang on video, spot on! I'd love for Slot to bring Geertruida & Wieffer in with him as they would be already perfect to take on the deep build up play from the back. Hincapie would be my main choice as the new LB signing to rotate & eventually replace Robertson. Excellent defender, young at 21/22 years of age so plenty of years ahead of him to improve. Good at getting forward aswell, plus can come across as a LCB to form a 3 when Trent pushes into midfield. If Diaz were to leave then we already have 3 options for the inverted LW in Gakpo, Szoboszlai who played there at Leipzig near enough & Jones who was a LWF in the youth set up & was adapt to more of a CM/AM in once he was integrated into the senior set up. Hopefully Beck & Morton both get given a chance in pre season as they had excellent loan spells last season at Dundee & Hull respectively
Thankyou for the descriptive comment, you know your stuff mate. Everything you said is spot on. Geertruida & Wieffer both look like they have strong links to Italy, so we might have to look elsewhere. I agree with the Hincapie shout, I think it’s fair to say that’s Liverpool’s priority signing alongside a 6, and Hincapie seems to be the perfect fit. He only played 46% of the minutes available for Levekusen this season, so surely we have negotiating power there. Would you start Gakpo on the left, or would you still go with Diaz?
@@odsfootball personally I'd prefer Hincapie over Calafiori due to the fact I've seen alot more of him. Robertson for me will need rotating more as he has started picking up more injuries lately, whether that's due to the intensity he plays at l don't know. I'm delighted Gakpo is showing just how good he is for the Dutch during the euros, you can tell he's so much more comfortable playing out on the left with the licence to drift inside & have his fellow LB overlap him rather than being a false 9. If Diaz does stay then Slot will have brilliant competition on his hands for the LW position. Both players played at PSV & FC Porto on the LW in a 4-2-3-1 & both do the same for their countries in the same formation which is also preferred by Slot which will help. Gakpo, Diaz & Jones all options for the LW, Szoboszlai can also play there too. Jones, Elliott & Szoboszlai all options for the AM role in the 4-2-3-1. Just need a RW to rotate with Salah & help with his workload now he'll be 32 by thr start of thr new season. Anthony Gordon perhaps?
Great video again mate. I think Liverpool will make one really big marquee signing this summer, not sure who it will be though. If Bruno G was a year or two younger i think Edwards would spend the 100 mil for his release clause. Dont really see Gakpo playing the 10 not sure hes creative enough or would be comfortable playing there. Im very happy with Szobo at 10. We are going to sign a winger this summer so that could be the big money move. I wonder could Olise or Kudus play some games in the 10 with Mo on the wing? If Darwin doesnt perform maybe Mo could play the 9 as well allowing a Olise or Kudus to play on the right. Sorry that was a lot, great vid 🎉.
Thankyou Ollie, I really appreciate that mate! I think Kudus/Olise are excellent shouts, Kudus in particular seems like the perfect long term Salah Replacement. As much as I'd love Olise, I can see him definitely going to either Manchester Clubs / Chelsea. As much as I'd like Gakpo as the 10, he is more likely ti interchange between Diaz and have Dom play there. Excited either way! Thanks for the comment.
I love Nunez but he must be on track for the PL player to hit the woodwork more than any other - I'd give him 1 more season as he has sooo much promise, skill, speed just not quite a match winner yet. I think TAA has demonstrated enough to be considered a genuine midfielder. But not Right Back. Sorry - he doesnt have the full back's instinct as to which space to cover when chasing back. But he is dazzling in midfield and will only get better. Cant wait to see what Slot does with this squad, including Bradley and all the young lads who really showed a lot of promise last season.
With the way Slot uses his right-back to invert into midfield, I can only see Trent playing there. He’s so talented but I don’t think he can play as a 6, and I can’t see him starting as an 8 (as much as I’d like to see that). I’m really looking forward to seeing how he assembles this team.
I don’t believe Ruben Amorim didn’t get the job because of his antic (taking the meeting with West Ham), if he was Liverpool primary target they wouldn’t give up on him just because of that. Arne Slot was their main target from the get go
I think Jota is probably the best natural finisher at the club, but with him only playing sub 2900’ across the last 2 seasons (1/3 of the available minutes) I don’t know how Slot would use him. I don’t think he can effectively play off the left, and with his injury problems, I don’t think he’d be the main number 9. Serious, serious player on his day, but I can’t see him being anything more than a rotational player unfortunately.
@@odsfootball I was the same until I was checking out some stats on him today. His defensive contributions could left mac play however he wants, similar to caicedo did at Brighton. I'm kind of a believer now in the kid and how he'd work
He’s definitely underrated in terms of his defensive work. He might not be physically imposing either, like a Wieffer / Onana etc but he’s 100% good enough to play there. My only concern is his price-tag, I think we could get a slightly better suited player (maybe not as high of a ceiling) for half the price. I really can’t see us spending the reported fee for him.
Yeah that’s why Klopp started Trent at RB though, so he can Invert whilst in possession. I think if Slot starts Trent in midfield, you wouldn’t see that Pivot. Usually the second 6 alongside Wiffer pushes into like an advanced 8 role, and whilst I think Trent can definitely do that, I think Slot would rather him be deeper.
@@odsfootball mate I’m a scouser, when have we ever said ass?? @odsfootball He must have the ability to get the basic fundamentals of shooting otherwise he wouldn't have got 34 goals in his last season at Benfica
I really enjoyed this. I was surprised to see the low views. All reds should be watching this.
