Same why I got the App, My touch bar is broken as well and keeps flashing. This hides it, too much money and time to waste at the Apple store to get it fixed, even w/ the warranty.
Hi, Sorry for saying this but mine still flickering when turned off, would you give me any advice? I thought it worked at first but then it started all over again.
Gotcha, can you reach out by email? You'll find the Contact link at the bottom of the website. Try to send me a quick video recording to show me what's going on. Thanks!
There's no one size fits all unfortunately. There are different causes for the flickering. Some can be solved with Hide My Bar but it seems that some cannot, even though they might reduce the intensity or frequency of the flickering. That's because Apple doesn't provide much for developers to control the Touch Bar. I also wrote a blog post with a few solutions you can try. I can't paste the link here but you can reach out by email. You can find it on the website.
I installed it, and during work it is completely stopped. But when my mac is locked or in screensaver, then touchbar is active again. (And as my flickers, it is almost a full disco when the room is dark.)
I'm glad it's working well during work. Unfortunately he lock screen is managed by a separate system process that operates independently of the user session 😞. Because of this, user-level applications like Hide My Bar don't have the permissions needed to disable the Touch Bar in that context. Apple doesn't give us full control over the Touch Bar. I don't think there are any way around this limitation. I'm sure it's frustrating to have a full disco on your desk....
Will this affect the touch id for logging into the computer? The touch ID is useful, and I don't want to lose that, but definitely want to hide the rest of it sometimes.
Amazing app, thank you for that. The only thing is that the touchbar appears for milliseconds when you press a keyboard or a trackpad after a minute or two. Wish it was fixed.
Thank you Denis for the kind words. Please send us an email at contact@clemstation.com with a quick video to show us what’s going on and we’ll take a look.
Hi Arthur. This app looks great. I will give it a try. Have a question though. Will this disable the touch bar or just turn it of. What i would like to know is this: I have the issue where I get a little blinking bright light when the bar goes to sleep and it´s very annoying, will this disable the touch bar?
Hey Ricardo, it will turn off the Touch Bar and therefore disable it (touching it will have no effect). However if you problem is hardware I can't guarantee the blinking light will be gone. You can give it a try for free: hidemybar.clemstation.com/
@@clemstation i just left it disconnected. they wanted to charge me $250 to replace the touchbar, it's not worth it. If you don't use it, it's better off to just leave it disconnected. It's been a few days and it's working well. no more flickering and reboot.
Unfortunately the "fn" key has its own internal behavior and it makes the user experience very strange when using it as an option. That being said, we'll keep looking for a workaround.
This is a godsend! My touch bar has this weird light flickering almost blinding situation going on and this is the perfect app for it! Thanks!
lol i have it as well but i dont wanna spend money for it to get fixed
mine still flickers even with the app active :((

Great, thanks for your purchase, hope it will remove some of the frustration that comes with the TouchBar

No, Hide My Bar doesn't impact the touch ID at all. So you can have your Touch Bar hidden and the touch ID will still be functional.
this is life saving tip. thanks a lot
Sure thing 😀Happy you're happy with it!
