I think this is the most beautiful song I've ever heard. Ulla's voice is just amazing! Thank You so much for posting this masterpiece. I didn't know music could feel like this.
Bures, bures! Gittu for this fine work, and I know it was both creative expression and work. Please share more. Xavi (Chair, Sami Sidda of North America)
And it STILL does! What the heck is it about this song? I don't believe in magic, but there has to be something going on here. I sure can't explain this one..
@ShizukaRen i can't speak swedish eather but i do have a specil gift of telling what music means without lyrics, this song obviously speaks of the wolv's lives like the joy of freedom, the sorrow of death, the joy of birth and life the fiercness of the pack, the gentlense of the mother wolf to her cubs, the strong bonds the pack shares whith eachother or the real songs meaning is just the expresstion of strong and complex emotins and feeling that can't be described in words.
@midactsD Finnish Sámi, small nationality here in finnish Lapland. Tho theres plenty of Sámi people in Norwegian and Swedish Lapland as well. Thankyou for your comment :)
@Hymimaru speaking swedish has nothing to do with this joik u know... for the meaning, if you think about the name of the joik, that is in our foremothers arms, it makes u think about the nature, in whitch, of course, wolves belong into, as well. But well, the description u offered, goes well with any other living being. Thankyou for your comment.
I said; All respect for those who did not get any respect. Back in the old days, the sami people were indoctrinated into the norwegian way of living. I have just one thing to say, shame on us! But justice has been brougth to those who met the hardness of our society that took those wrong decisions!
@kaiii4 I'm sorry to correct you but, in someones arms means same as in someones lap... means that foremother holds you in her lap, embracing you. So it means you are not wrong but neither am i. And btw, it's doesn't* ;)
for signakristina and sxgsxg and for other swedish/norwegian ppl, I can't speak any swedish or norwegian languages, sorry about that. But kind thankyou for your comments still. Enjoy for the video.
I'm polish. I love Saami. My dream is travel to land Saami.( sorry my English is no good) but "moje serce zginęło gdzieś wśród płaskowyżów, gdzie Saami wypasają reny"....
joik is more about the feeling than the actual words, I think. You may need some artistic ear to catch the meaning behind it. as sxgsxg says, they give it a higher meaning than it is literally understandable ;)
In a joik there are`nt any spesific lyrics.. The sami people doesnt joik "about" the wolf, they joik the wolf... Naturally this was hard to understand back in time, so it was concidered as some sort of communication with the devil.. As Kafarsken replied, the crueldom om Christianity.
@ShizukaRen Hi! Journey to scandinavian countries this is my life dream. But now I'm too young( I'm 23 ), I think. Second: my english it's very bad. Third: I don't have money to trip. I'm a student and I work. I work milk cow in small willage in Poland. In Mazury. Greet 4u
@wiolinga07 Then just come to Finland, Norway or Sweden. Lapland is part of these scandinavian countries and sámi people minority in here. They are actually just sámi speaking finnish/swedish and norwegian nationalities. (also there's some in Russian Kola Peninsula)

Asshole.
A husky is still wolf-like. They are close descendants of wolves. So, still technically a wolf.
They're more like close cousins. They share a common ancestor. In fact, Huskies are more closely related to Chihuahuas than to wolves.
