Great videos. I have a 72 Continental coupe will the rear window motors be the same? And are the front door motors the same as the video you did I think on a Mercury?
The motors in your Lincoln are the same front are rear and are the same as the ones in this LTD. The only motors that are different back then are the front doors with the power minivent window option. They have a 7 tooth gear versus all the others having a 9 tooth gear. Thank you!
I also have a beautiful 72 ltd convertible it was down for maintenance and some mice got in now my left rear window won't work do you know of any exposed wires that go to it ware mice might have chewed them into
I hope owner kept the original 429 OEM engine as there were only about 566 72 LTD convertibles made with the the 429 and C6 transmission. Only about 4200+ Convertibles made that year total and 72 was the last year a full size Ford convertible was made. Best practice is to keep OEM engines and transmissions and just modify them for performance and durability.
@@tonyscarcare5657 Too bad, collectors put a little more on cars close to OEM, however, it is still a very low build # car to begin with, then even less with the big block and C6. Thanks for the content. Hard to find content and parts, on any the old classic convertibles
@dewholdingsllc1050 Yeah, I love the last Ford LTD convertible. I wish they'd continued to offer bucket seats like in 71. I like the 72 better than the 71 myself.
That motor looks identical to my hideaway headlight motor for my 70 Charger except it has a knob at the bottom and doesn’t say “made in China” so I wonder if the big three back then used the same vendor for various items? Hmm
Chrysler used a lot of Ford and GM parts both. Chrysler never had their own power vent window motors. They used Autolite (Ford) first, then used GM though 1973. Chrysler used GM tilt steering columns and illuminated entry systems throughout the 80s. I'm not sure what year the final got their own. After Lee Iacocco took over I'm sure.
This video just gave me the confidence to take apart my 72 LTD convertible to diagnose and fix my rear window.
Awesome! Great to hear. Thanks for watching!
Tony thanks if you have any more videos on the dash especially let me know😊
You're welcome. I don't have at this time.
Tony is so Awesome!
Yeah I live this car!
Thanks Tony. If it were my car, I would try to find Made in USA motors.
Yeah, it's not too hard to find them. I guess they're still working now, though.
@@tonyscarcare5657 Yes. They are better than nothing at all. 👍
Beautiful LTD
Yep I love it!
Great video! Exactly what do the torque pins due?
They keep the window gear spinning. They break up. Bad design really!
Would like to see Rear window fix 1990 ford Mustang 5.0 convertible.
Thanks
If I get one I'll show you. Thanks!
Do you have any more repaire videos on this car?
No, I'm sorry, I don't. That was a customers car. What do you need?

Where did you find the 460 motor at??? Where you find frame mounts and motor mounts to fit the car?
The car doesn't belong to me but 429 and 460 use the same mounts.
429 & 460 same engine different stroke. Most parts interchange. A 72 would have been internally balanced and a forged crankshaft.

There's not really anything exposed. You need to start testing at the switches with a test light.
@@tonyscarcare5657 thanks I was hoping for a easy fix but I guess I really knew better
@@GaryEckelmann-do2bv you're welcome.
Sun star white for the color ?
I'm not sure what the color is called.
Know where I can find a full set for my 71 LTD
Ebay
I never knew there were LTD convertibles. I thought you had to get the XL.
71 and 72 only, after the XL was discontinued.

He bought it that way, so I'd say it's long gone.

Beautiful car although I’m pretty sure it would have came with a bench seat not buckets.
Yes buckets and console were still available in 71 but not 72 so you are correct. However I'm cool with it and would have also added the console.
Some bucket seats look to modern for that era car. Those look nice
@@billybradyjr6008 yeah it's a shame they didn't continue the buckets and console for one more year. It could easily be done correctly.
