I ordered two of those in a 10 frame Medium. The reviews were more bad than good, but I ordered anyway. I paid $29 for one of them with 10 frames and $39 for the other one, so it was a no brainer. The frames were worth more than I paid. I have to say the quality wasn't a good as some of the other budget brands, but I got it together without much problem. The wax was so thick that it interfered with assembly, so keep that in mind. Put it together part way and then clear the wax out of the way, then finish putting together. All in all I would definitely buy them again at those prices.
I never saw him do anything risky during the video. His hand was never closer than about 5 inches from where he nailed. That thing doesn't shoot bullets, it drives nails. As long as your hand is further away than the length of the nail there's no possible way to nail yourself. You're over thinking it.

Mine weren’t coated that much. I honestly wish I had the ability to wax dip all my hives. I’d get it again
