One of the most underrated and brilliant rockers, used to see him live back in the '70's. This guy always packed a real punch vocally, a great musician, too. Bloody good.
@@hatzicsteve I was very fortunate to have seen him in concert once. It was in Baton Rouge in 1978-79. He was opening act. I had never heard of him before that night, but I was captivated. One of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. I went out and bought his album the next day!
@@randyfernandez9112 As mentioned I did not see him live but once I heard his music I did buy as many of his albums as I could find in the early Eighties ... still buying and searching for his music in shops and buying new releases when they come available... Cheers!
One night recently ‘ Darlin’ came up on shuffle play, I’ve always loved that song, but it occurred to me that I didn’t know any other stuff by him. To cut a long story short I have now downloaded 8 albums by him and can’t quite believe that until now I didn’t realise how much great stuff he has put out.
Seger and Frankie are contemporaries and grew up totally unaware of each other . They both possessed that gravelly quality to their voices . I used to see Seger when he was a callow youth in Detroit and he had it right out of the box . Both singers are fantastic .
Awesome talent! Would loved to have seen a Frankie Miller/Bob Seger duet. If you want to see real chemistry and artistry check out Frankie Miller and Rory Gallagher together.
I mixed Frankie a couple of nights in the Mayfair, Sauchiehall St, about 1986, when he had Robbo and Simon Kirke in the band. An abiding memory, I can tell you. Listen to this around 4:30 with "it's buuurning", that's as fine a piece of rock singing as you'll ever hear.
Love Frankie Miller and there will never be another person that could fill his shoes;because he was the Great Frankie Miller and his voice was awesome and one of a kind for sure and for certain !❤❤❤❤❤❤
Something unusual here: Ed Deere. He plays the lead. He’s left handed, and is playing a left handed Strat. Nothing unusual. But he’s playing the guitar strung for a right handed guitarist. Still not that unusual. But to do it strung for a righty on a lefty guitar is AB-! Lefty’s always had to make do when learning to play, and most had a righty guitar just switched over so the strings are “upside down”. Think Hendrix. Deere learned his craft well. Remember he has to pull strings when a righty would be pushing and then pushing when righties would pull. Guitar done well is hard enough, but this guy is next level against all odds. Frankie had many groups. The revolving door was who knows who’s fault. Probably made the career less than it could have been. Hearing Frankie makes you wonder why.
Seger sings both and wrote fire down below. Ain't got no money is on Seger's Stranger in Town album even though it was written by Miller, Bob just covered it
Kevin, wish I could drink and fish with Frankie, and thats not all.Mr.Frankie Miller is the best there ever was, and still is. @paulreno10 Wrong, Bob Seger has been active since 1961, Frankie Miller since 1966. The reality is that they both started performing independently and happened to develop somewhat similar sounds.
