If for example you bought a Basquiat painting in the 80s for say 500 dollars and you sold it today for millions that is your money not Basquiats . You already paid Basquiat for the painting . The artist owns the copy right you couldn't make copies and sell them but you can resell an original all day long

He may have figured this out after Warhol died, fell prey to imposter syndrome and spiraled towards his death. He sold Debbie Harry a painting for $200 bucks and a year later was selling paintings for $20,000 as fast as he could crank them out. Too much too fast for a disturbed young man.

I’m with you. My 7 year old son draws the same way. And I’m a art lover but I see kid drawings when I look at his work idk 🤷🏽♀️
