I have used several of your tips to catch fish. your videos have helped me go from not knowing anything about fishing to pulling in monster! From the bottom of my heart thank you!
That was some nice catches there. That brings back memories when my dad used to put little chunks of cut mullet on hooks for us when we were kids. You need to come and do ride the bull contest in Louisiana if you never had before..👍
I had a bait out for about 5 minutes before it got slammed. Very important to be in the right area! If you just randomly anchor up somewhere and set out bait you may be waiting for a while and/or catch a bunch of catfish. Always find active areas. I just posted a full report on finding the best areas in the Insider page!
Ok I gotta ask the most important question I think a lot of us are asking: What are you using for catfish repellent?! On the moquito lagoon and north indian river lagoon lately, the catfish have been so bad cutbait doesn't last a minute, and I've been getting them on mirrodeen and jerkbaits! I have enough sailfin nuggets for months, and even the hardheads instantly snatch anything. Really skinny too most of the time, but still...how are you avoiding the snot rockets and hard kitcats? What sort of sorcery is at work here?! I demand to know!
I highly recommend using the freshest mullet possible. Frozen mullet will fall off the hook much easier than fresh. Also, catfish tend to be more attracted to the old smelly frozen stuff more than the fresh. It's important to be able to zero in on the feeding zones as well. If you just anchor up willy nilly and hope the fish come by sooner or later, you will find yourself catching a lot of by-catch. Find areas with a lot of activity (bait, birds, mud boils, wakes, etc) and toss some bait around those areas. If no luck within 30 minutes or so, time to move!
Oh yeah, that is usually what I try to do, although fresh mullet can be hard as my bad back makes cast netting a pain sometimes. If I can't get mullet a quick micro hook with a tiny piece of shrimp or fish bites can net me the freshest pinfish or croakers. Its just been a right pain lately with the catfish nabbing baits so fast everywhere, that I've even pulled some out of tailing reds, with lures! At least its easy if you bring someone out who just wants to catch something, the catfish lately hit faster than the pinfish and put up a decent fight.

May have to get up there sometime!
@@tonyacevedo3149 yes you should come over one year and try it. It is supposed to be the largest kayak fishing tournament in the country
Is the mullet cut for any particular reason? Was it too large to begin with? Is it better than live mullet? Is it to preserve bait?
Let’s go baby!
Yeah buddy!
Nice video trying to get a reel on the best kayak?
Are you anchored or drifting with it? Also, this is Florida still correct?
I was anchored up. Yep this is in Florida
Does his upper lip move at all ?
How deep is it when you're fishing for these guys
It really depends I fish in port aransas and I usually catch a lot at like 30-60 ft deep but they can be any depth
What does the MUTU stand for in the owner hooks ?
Haha no clue! I just prefer them because they are a light wire hook (thinner) which can help get the hook set. Still very strong though.
how long did it to get those hits?
