HELLO FRIENDS!!! here is an odd adventure that we went on, that i hope you will enjoy.... though we escaped mostly unscathed this time, i'm not sure what mystery hauls the future will bring, hehe. happy saturday!!
Right? I would have gone in and returned them just to find out how much they were overdue. lol. Although, I'm imagining the librarian's face when she tries to check it back in. rofl.
so now....2 years later...you know what you should do? You should go to an auction for abandoned luggage at the airport! I've seen people get legit amazing things like really nice name-brand clothes and shoes and expensive laptops and jewelry. :D Would looooove to see it! lol
I’m crying in utter despair because my cousin secretly put our great-great grandfather’s military swords in a storage unit in California, then neglected to pay the bill. He was never supposed to have those swords in the first place! My heart is broken 😭 Somebody, somewhere has my family heirlooms. If anyone ever happens to see one or two military swords *please please please* tell me right away 🙏 and we’ll see if they’re the right ones, and if yes, I will give a spectacular reward $$$$$$$. I’ll give anything to have my heirlooms safely in my custody again!
That's exactly what I thought. Definitely a secret man-cave. Though I'm guessing he had to abandon it when his wife found out he was paying for a storage unit she had no idea about. Though given what I've seen on true crime shows a secret man-cave is probably the least terrifying option.
I'm like 95% certain that someone was living in the unit. I worked for a storage company and usually if there are a lot of empty food packages and clothes then there was someone living in there
// oof thats kind of disturbing... esp considering all the porn lmaooo i wouldn't have touched that shit if my life depended on it. im guessing that's not generally allowed?
My friend manages storage unit complexes and he's seen people live in their units (like, takes shits in plastic bags and throw them up on the roof type of living in). There was even a suicide in one of his units a few years ago by carbon monoxide poisoning. So yeah. It uh... is very possible.
Tyler’s reenactment of bidding was my favorite part of the video. Both of you guys have such a great sense of humor. You must have so much fun together. 💕
Man this is why I love Saf. She sees trend like the eBay mystery boxes and take it to her own whole new unique level. Her videos are also completely unique
This was DEEPLY satisfying to watch. The cleaning, selling, tossing the trash, giving the library books back, it felt like you were just clearing the cutter of the world a little bit. Yeeeess.
I'm a couple of years late but I really liked this episode! I manage a self storage facility and I am also a huge comic book nerd, the comic book shop owner didn't lowball you, the 90's were a terrible era for the the comic book industry. The majority of the time that storage units that go up for auction are full of junk and stuff that the tenant no longer wants, so you actually scored a decent unit. Live auctions are becoming a thing of the past, the trend now is posting them online.
pleaseeeeeeeeee do a part 2! this was so fun and interesting! and I feel like it wasn't actually that expensive. like you have a fairly good chance at finding some goods 😂
Wow! Safiya, this is a great idea! I think I'm one of the people who wants more of this Mystery Unit Storage! Hope you do a second episode of this.. 😊😊
Keep the shopping cart!!! I have 3 in my garage and they come in handy. Bringing the recycling to the dumpster, and easy way to roll a full cooler to the pool, and other random shenanigans during a really fun after hours party! Xo
Those library books may not have been stolen. I’ve purchased library books for $.50-$1 because the library is getting rid of less popular books to make way for newer ones.
Years ago, my school’s library was giving away books that they didn’t want anymore. They did not cross out their stamps or anything. They just took them off the shelves and gave them away.
The thing that bothers me about this is: sometimes, storage companies are shady as hell, and they sell units without talking to the person who rented them. That's actually something that happened to me. I had a whole collection of books I had received as a child, and they were in great condition. I have no idea who got them or what they did with them. My husband and I kept up with payments, but that didn't matter to the person who screwed us over.

I thought the same with the comics, food, clothes, even porn, and powerade hahaha they really add up, and with the addend of it being really messy. Thats why i doubted Tylers theory hahaa, kinda sad too.
Why couldn't a homeless person living there clean up the trash though? like, i get that you're living in a storage unit, but seriously- clean up after yourself!
I remember feeling sad when I found out you'd left buzzfeed. But now every video you do is unique, you can learn something from each and every one of them, you are such a talent! I wish you all the best, you are amazing!
You would have made a lot more money selling the comics on Amazon, and it has an automatic appraisal tool. I used to resell garage sale books on Amazon and made a ton of money on used textbooks.
You should attend a charity event that has an action. They usually get very cool donations that are fun to bid on, and the resulting $ helps the charity.
She's worth 2.4 million so I highly doubt she was trying to gain a few hundred, but I'm sure you were also trying to let others know not to go that route.
The problem with storage wars is people deliberately bidding up units they dont want just to make others pay more for them. Since there is no actual benefit to this it dosnt happen in real auctions.
Crazy thing, those ones that wouldn't let you film and seemed shady were probably doing illegal stuff. There is a whole shady side to buying those storage sheds.
She should have put everything but the comics in a box and then listed it as a mystery box on Ebay to double her profits. Then watch some other random youtuber open it, and then do a reaction video to the video opening the mystery box she sold them.
i hate birds Definitely! My parents have a business where they put together estate sales for people, and they say that people will have crazy rare collectibles and other things just sitting in their basement or attic.
They have them online now too- in my area I check online on a website called max sold and see amazing prices on wood furniture. I only bought once though- a wooden desk for $1. Best dollar I ever spent
My boyfriend buys storage units and then turns around and sells what he gets through his eBay store. It is so much fun!! I love going with him and then going through the unit to see what I can call dibs on, lol! One time I found an authentic couch purse that was in amazing condition. I still have it to this day, lol.
I had a classmate in one of my college classes who bought a storage unit with boxes full of ANIME FIGURES for about $165. She was able to pay off that amount by selling a single gundam/gunpla box and then made a profit of about ~$900 after selling about 10 figures. She still had two other boxes to sort through and sell as well. Only reason she told me about it was because she was a middle aged white woman who had no clue about anime and decided to ask the only asian she knew at the time LOL. Lucky for her she asked the right weeb. Hopefully you do another video like this! I love watching people buy storage lockers.
I just love seeing auctions like this, it’s the hoarder in me, and I love seeing if I can find old sweaters to take apart and yarn (I like crocheting and not having to bleed my wallet dry to get yarn and make blankets).
Rando comment from someone who has worked 7 years un the California storage business: Auctions are canceled all the time because the owners of the unit are legally allowed to come pay and reclaim up to the second the auctioneer says "sold." During an auction I carry a walkie-talkie so I know to shut down a sale immediately if it is paid for last minute, which happens a lot. Usually a settlement even as low as 50% is going to be more than what we make auction, so if the owner wants to show up, make a final payment, clear their stuff out in 24 hours, and let us have the space back, it's in our best interest to make a deal. If a lot of people pay off early enough so there are only a couple small units left, managers will cancel auctions so they don't build a negative reputation with buyers. A lot of people turn over units professionally and you want to make sure you attract the pros, so disappointing auctions lose you money in the long run, it's better to just shut it down and add those to the next one. Also, our only option legally in CA to reclaim an abandoned unit is to auction the items after going through a very complex sequence of events. The account usually goes through a warning process, then pre-lien, which is a certified letter and a fee, the lien, which is another certified letter and a fee, and then after enough units are 30 days past lien you reach the lock cut point. Unlike Storage Wars, in CA we are legally required to cut the locks ahead of time and inventory the units. Most places will hire a bonded third party to come cut the locks so that the owners can't be accused of stealing from the units pre-auction. (There are many stories of storage employees sneaking items out of pre-auction units, then getting caught when the owners pay up at the last second.) It gets a bit weird here, because until the unit is either sold or paid for, we are not allowed to "cross the threshold," but we are required to do an inventory. What this ends up equating to is a list of items we can see from the door like "boxes, rug, babyseat, trash bags, tool box". We are then legally required to take that list and publish it in a local newpaper along with the name of the person being auctioned and the auction dates (no, seriously, that's a law) which usually ends up being a legal journal of some kind because they fill the requirements and are cheap. Then after all that and two more weeks, you can legally auction the contents IF the owner doesn't arrive at the last second. Technically you are allowed to perform your own auction, however it is a lot safer legally to pay an actual auctioneer to do it for you. They are bonded, often advertise or have a loyal following, and know how to drive up prices. It gets so much more complicated but I'll stop myself there. So um. That's probably why your auction was canceled.
Compare to the others who left BuzzFeed and made a RUclips channel, I see why Safiya has the most subscribers. Her ideas are creative and refreshing and her personality is just so personable and great ugh💜
She also actually has talent and tries. The others probably thought they were so creative and could do it, but didn't realise how untalented and boring they actually were without a group or partners in the video.
she dID work at buzzfeed and they have been accused of copying ideas from other youtubers even though they plan their videos and record them months before they actually upload them.. so it would make sense why saf starts all these trends lol
@Ivy ? they’re actually different! they’re owned by different companies and have different sodium levels (a lot of people buy the brand with less sodium, forgot which one it is) i was really confused too!
So did I, until the bubble burst in the early 90s. Most 90s books end up in the $1 bin, and even then they're hard to move. They did about as well as they were going to.
@@Raja1938 still, $110 is pretty low for over 400 comics, they should've gotten at least $170 or $200, and the guy would still have over 100% of profit
@@JotaC Comicbooks just aren't as popular as they were 30+ years ago. $1 bin comics are in the $1 bin for a reason...they're hard to sell and a retailer is lucky to break even with the cost of storage, and lugging boxes and boxes of them from one convention to another, and even then many of them never sell. As a former collector myself, the vast majority of 90s books are basically good for wrapping fish.

Hey, if your theory is true, the owner abondoning the storage unit means he is happy in his marriage and fulfilled, so that's worth 50$.
Or he is not happy and (his wife knows about the unit ) he is not allowed to leave the house?
Or he forgot that he had it...
Or his wife killed him 😅😢
Every RUclipsr: GUYS IM
SO NERVOUS TO OPEN THIS BOX!!

PLEASE DO THIS AGAIN I LOVES THIS VIDEO!!!! MAKE IT A SERIES ❤️❤️❤️
She always does 💕💕
Most youtubers: I BOUGHT $150 MYSTERY BOX FROM EBAY (NOT CLICKBAIT)
Saf and Tyler: I bought a storage unit for $125.
Bought the content of a storage unit*
She should have put everything but the comics in a box and then listed it as a mystery box on Ebay to double her profits. Then watch some other random youtuber open it, and then do a reaction video to the video opening the mystery box she sold them.
“I can be a tap dancer” more like a TACK-dancer! HAHAHAHAHahahaha..... yeah it’s not that funny

YESS She's amazingly consistent!
If you go to some estate sales, they usually have really underpriced good finds that you could get and sell for a good profit.
i hate birds Definitely! My parents have a business where they put together estate sales for people, and they say that people will have crazy rare collectibles and other things just sitting in their basement or attic.
That seems like such a good way to get some interesting bargains, but man I'd feel so bad/weird buying a newly deceased person's stuff.
I loooovve estate sales.
Someone's going to do it whether you do it or not.
This better be a series girl because I freaking loved this! Top notch content! Saf goes bidding, bidding with saf! Shit me this was binge worthy shit!

I just love seeing auctions like this, it’s the hoarder in me, and I love seeing if I can find old sweaters to take apart and yarn (I like crocheting and not having to bleed my wallet dry to get yarn and make blankets).
(Expanding from Tyler’s theory) I’m guessing the food, drinks and chair were from that guy going back to his storage bin to relive his youth
relive his youth... lol
That was my thought, too. 🤣
He could’ve been sleeping there.
Food, drinks, porn, chair. I guess he brought lotion and tissues each visit.
Or someone was living in there until they couldn't afford that as well
Aww our little bat is getting married

No.
Please do a part two where u get friends who buy some storage units and see who gets the most valuable item .
Great idea !
Watch that frickin’ Satan mask be worth thousands of dollars
I read that as Santa and i was when the fuck is santa gonna pop up 😂😂😂😂😂
i was thinking the same thing, ive watched enough storage wars to know you ALWAYS go for the funky thing, its normaly bank
Compare to the others who left BuzzFeed and made a RUclips channel, I see why Safiya has the most subscribers. Her ideas are creative and refreshing and her personality is just so personable and great ugh💜
easysky
easysky Chris Rieacher idk if that’s how you spell it also has some good content
She also actually has talent and tries.
The others probably thought they were so creative and could do it, but didn't realise how untalented and boring they actually were without a group or partners in the video.
True. The others just make typical buzzfeed contents *cough* michelle *cough* khare *cough*
Gaby Napitupulu
Duuude she tried so hard to be edgy and cool when she debuted, but her content ended up falling so flat...
i swear this girl starts all the youtube trends...
Josh Carelton and simplynailogical
What trend was this?
Yep xD
she dID work at buzzfeed and they have been accused of copying ideas from other youtubers even though they plan their videos and record them months before they actually upload them.. so it would make sense why saf starts all these trends lol
Safiya and Tyler bought a serial killer's storage unit 😂. This gives me Silence of the Lambs vibes.
“this string is too much for me” 🤣🤣
The guy who owned the unit: "Oh so *that's* where I put my Powerade 17 years ago........"
mae it’s just a casual common mistake
the subtitles spelled it power AIDS
i think thats the english word for gatorade or something because i never heard of powerade
@Ivy ? they’re actually different! they’re owned by different companies and have different sodium levels (a lot of people buy the brand with less sodium, forgot which one it is) i was really confused too!
You look so pretty!!
Hi Antonia!!
QWEEN ANTONIA
Omg it's Antonia from Shane's videos!!! Hiii!
I love you and shane
😍 oh my gosh I love u
as a person that collects comics, i think he jipped them.
Jota C, only hypothetically. Until being sold they are just a trash.
@@Raja1938 Luca Brasi sleeps wit da fishes.
I love that you guys returned the library books !!!
ikr i don't even wanna return my own
MAKE THIS A SERIES
That'd be a really expensive series
