How to make a smartphone tripod mount

  • I wanted to use my smartphone as a video camera, but couldn't mount it on a tripod because it didn't have a tripod socket. I decided to make a smartphone tripod mount out of ABS plastic. I know it's not pretty, but it works a treat.
    I learned how to cut and bend ABS plastic from Jude Pullen's videos:

    Thanks a lot. I got the ABS plastic sheet from my friend, who makes plastic model planes. I can see it's not easy to get in the USA. I found only few ABS sheets in Amazon and on eBay, but they're smooth on one side and textured on the other. You can also try finding it in model shops.

    Wow, that was a lot of work, but awesome presentation and very ingenious of you to figure it all out. I'm sure it was fun to make and gave you a great deal of satisfaction once the final product was finished.

    I really liked the fact that what you did with your hands is done nowadays with 3D printing. Handcrafts are really nice. Anyway, yours will be done faster after all. 3D printing small pieces on a not so powerful printer will take some hours.
    Anyway, I also tried once to make one, but it was to much pressure on the cell phone, so, I stop doing it. Yours is much more better.

    Wow! Super talented! And, by the way, there's absolutely nothing wrong with your voice. I can't believe what that one guy said. But I'm American, and a girl so I love other accents!

    • @ElectronFunCom
      @ElectronFunCom  10 лет назад

      Thanks a lot! Not many girls come to my channel, so I appreciate your comment even more :) I don't have a radio voice, but I believe I can improve it. The voice itself is not my main problem. I prefer American English over any other English dialect and I would like to get as close as possible with my pronunciation. I know I still sound foreign, but I'm not quite sure if it's about pronunciation of individual words, or my intonation in a sentence, or maybe both.
      Could you, as a native speaker, tell me what sounds foreign to you the most?

    • @ReachAndGetIt
      @ReachAndGetIt 9 лет назад +2

      ElectronFun.com I listened to it again & your pronunciation is straight on. You never want to lose the accent! However, it may sound silly but if you want to get better at speech it's good to practice in the mirror. This way you can include expressions in your words. Even if you are not filming your face, it's always good to have expression in your voice. Kind of like when you are telling friends a story in person. You don't want to sound like you're reading. Hope that helps :-)

      Thank you so much for your time! I'll use your advice and practice in the mirror. I definitely don't want to sound like I'm reading.

  • @blitzboy227

    Impressive , but it would have been much better if you had made a universal smartphone mount (One size fits all ) kind of thing..

    • @ElectronFunCom
      @ElectronFunCom  10 лет назад

      You're right, but when I think about a universal mount I would use different materials and there would have to be a spring and some kind of a clamp to lock the phone.

    • @blitzboy227
      @blitzboy227 10 лет назад

      Yeah you're right..
      But As newer and better phones release every half a year now, it's better to make a universal mount.. But nonetheless you really have some really good crafting skills.. +1 bro

    That looks like it will work until you get your fluid tri-pod. My guess would be to use strong PVC pipe but not to glue the movable parts for adjustments and movement side to side and up and down. Mike

    • @ElectronFunCom

      You're right, my smartphone tripod mount would not work with a fluid head, but don't you think using a fluid head with a smartphone would be a bit overkill?

  • @samuelhodges6471
    @samuelhodges6471 9 лет назад +1

    I like that. Because the people that sell these kinds of phones doesn't include
    mounts or have accessories, or phone mounts are just hard to find. Knowing how to make your own is good. I agree with Aravind Babu. Maybe you can make a video on making an Universal Mount.
    (On the other hand. One can make a mount to fit their specific tripod(s).
    Then again, one can try to Google mounts for these kinds of phones.
    Still, this was a good video.
