Hi Harry, Just wondering if you have ever packaged the 64-bit Adobe Reader Installer? I have tried but for starters when run there didn't appear to be an msi temporarily created, instead if just goes online downloads and installs. So far I haven't been able get the 64 bit version packaged and because the 32-bit has randomly been upgraded on some machines Intune then errors due to the 32-bit path changing to the 64-bit path and trying to install it again. Thanks, Jim
Enjoyed your run through the topic very much. Super useful while exploring install options. I do have a Question - the parameters for the adobe installer extracting, namely sfx_o and sfx_ne. Are these and others documented somewhere - I could not find a reference off hand. Again, thanks for your efforts - subscribed.
Thanks, Harry for the follow-up, I used the previous video to deploy Adobe Acrobat reader and I had to Google search this part as it wasn't covered and it was a pain in the lower back. Your contents are brief, organized, and simple to follow.
This is really helpful. The only issue(not sure if I should call it an issue) is that the package i was struggling to make silent was of 446 MBs whereas this one of same version shows 585 MBs.
Thanks, Everything you need in one video! One odd issue I came across was when running -sfx_ne while extracting the MSI is the setup kept trying to install on the computer the command was run on. I extracted the files using 7zip
Thank you , this is so helpful. My question is , does this work with any Exe? I would assume everything except for the Adobe Wizard customization tool would be the same.
Literally NO ONE is talking about the fact that Adobe just recently quietly merged Acrobat Standard DC and Acrobat Reader DC into the same application, Adobe Acrobat DC, which opens as "Reader" if you are not using a licensed version.
@@adamsharpe5517 It’s just something that I discovered at work while troubleshooting an issue where .pdf files have a yellow background in some places, which is apparently a bug in the software which Adobe has yet to fix. Then I confirmed it while preparing new workstations. I installed Adobe Acrobat Reader DC like I have done countless times before on a fresh OS, and while everything during the install looks like it’s installing Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, the computer ends up having Adobe Acrobat DC installed, but then if you open a .pdf file without having a full Acrobat license, the application window says “Adobe Acrobat Reader DC” instead of “Adobe Acrobat DC.” Also, it is now the 64-bit version instead of the 32-bit version.
@@rashantha The install method is exactly the same as before. Everything in the install process looks like you are installing "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC" exactly like before (except the installer executable name says that it is 64-bit), but instead "Adobe Acrobat DC" is installed and then, when you open the application, it shows "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (64-bit)" at the top of the window. If you already have "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC" installed from before this change and you do any updates, then it remains "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC" in your app list on the computer and the application window continues to say "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (32-bit)" at the top of the window.
Hi Harry, I tried to apply the method for silently installing Acrobat Reader DC for Windows 11 and I was not successful. Does it need any refinement for Windows 11? I would be grateful if you could do another video. I believe that a lot of people will have the same problem. Thank you

Hey Harry, great videos on deploying Adobe via Intune, really helpful. Can I ask, I've Enabled the auto update on as part of the customisation but when the user installs an update it errors as it's looking for the IMEcache location (InstallLocation) which has cleared on installation. It's weird, but when I use msi file during the installation, it installs old 2015 release year version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. Also, "make reader the default pdf viewer" wizard option does not work at all

I followed the instructions from your previous video and this one, but I was working with Adobe Acrobat instead of Reader. Everything worked great, but when I opened Adobe Acrobat on the laptop that Adobe was pushed to, it asked me to sign in (which makes sense), but when I tried to sign in I received a message that said my operating system or browser is not up to date. Everything is up to date. I google it and came across an article on the Adobe website that told me that I needed to replace the AASlapp.exe file in Program Data with another AASlapp.exe file which they provided a download link for. That actually fixed the issue, but this makes deploying this way pointless if I have to do this for every laptop. Any thoughts?
I know this video is two years old, but did something change? I tried that command and all it did was try to install Reader on my computer without extracting.

Thanks! This continuously updating Adobe Acrobat Reader install is working very well without error when deployed as a Required app to existing computers. Initially, it also worked fine with W10 and W11 autopilot deployments, but now the app installs hang up the autopiloting process on cleanly-built computers. It seems there's a conflict between this Win32 install working concurrently with standard MS Office365 Professional during Autopilot. I added a custom requirement for this Win32 Reader app: The registry value "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\O365ProPlusRetail - en-us\DisplayName" must exist before this Reader install starts. This works without fail -- autopilot doesn't hang on software installs anymore. But the delayed Reader install doesn't happen until after the user's first reboot. Is there a slicker, more refined option to delay a Win32 app install until after Office finishes installing and resolve this conflict? TIA, Ed
