The thing about photographers from decades ago is that they were the pioneers. They were the first to get their foot in the door and make an impact with their photography, and that’s is the reason they are celebrated and well known. With greater access to cameras and technology there are now so many more photographers making extraordinary photos on a daily basis. It shouldn’t detract or make the newer crop of photographers work meaningless though. I hope I’m making sense?
I reduced my social media browsing and usage last year, and it is awesome. I may post a low effort reel or a story once in a while, but I've stopped posting pictures all together, and I stopped looking at other peoples images. My inspiration and project ideas is slowly coming back because of that. I shoot for me, not everyone else.
There is a simple truth to you sir. I would say that from experience in any artistic field it is essential to study what has gone before and what might start out as emulation may develop to become your original voice as you assimilate other influences.
Thank you for what you're saying because others don' t dare to say it Keep doing what you do because you're the only one to know if it is good or not Great video Keep the good work
I’m new to photography and find it difficult to draw the line between idea inspiration and trying to replicate others. This video really resonated with me. I’m going to try to just focus on improving technically and use RUclips to help with that mainly. I want to get to the point where settings etc become 2nd nature and I can then spend my time truly enjoying photography as an art form.
I'm sure the settings will become 2nd nature in no time, that's the easy part! Keep focusing on your own images, if you want to learn from other photographers outside of instagram I recommend a book called 'Reclaim The Street' - a great variety of work that may inspire you.
Is there something to see? Do you spot a relationship between the subjects or elements in the frame? Is there a balanced spacing between those elements? Do you leave the image with more questions? There's no one thing that defines a good photo, but you know when you have one.
He estado investigando esto de la fotografía porque me parece muy interesante, de momento solo tengo un teléfono para tomar fotos, y cuando tomo fotos siempre tengo en cuenta ser auténtico o no hacer fotos por hacerlas. Buen video y nuevo suscriptor :D
If it makes you feel any better, for a lot of us amateurs it's creators like yourself that we compare our work to and get insecure, all the way down it's just insecurity looking up at others. Except there's probably some ancient photographer somewhere living in a cave photographing interesting rocks who is living a zen existence and fully at peace with what they produce.
Maybe you mean you don't like dogs. Because hating someone without a valid reason is a bit extreme. I mean, I certainly don't like dogs, I am a cat person, but I definitely don't hate them.
@@godofredo0409 I agree hating someone without a reason is not good, but last time I looked a dog is a dog, not a "someone". My reason is being mauled by a dog as a child, and because of that I get nervous around them which they sense and start to be overly attentive to me, which scares me. I avoid them at all costs. We have two cats. :)
Am I not paying attention to the video? Cuz' I can't understand the relation of the title which is about blaming camera gear, to the actual content of the video which is about stop copying other's work/technique. I was expecting you will explain that even if you have an old camera, you will still take good photos and dismissing common advice these days that "you need full frame body, you need this pro lens, micro 4/3 suck and other smol sensors, etc etc". Or you really mistitled this one?

You are so right
You make total sense, I agree!
Well said 👏👏👏

That's good, I think only being accountable yourself, whatever way that may be, is surely the best way to go.
I am tired of watching RUclipsr shooting high contrast black & white sillioute of people walking into a light🙅♂️
But those shots are easy and rewarding 😂
The puppies are coming back lets go!!!!
I appreciate the hype ❤️
It’s a me! 😂 love that I was caught mid yawn bro 😂😂. Great video as always man 🎉🎉
Wait were you?! I didn't even notice 😂

@GeorgeHolden Many thanks for the advice. I'll definitely check the book out.
Thanks from Switzerland ☺️👌🏼🇨🇭❗️
Thank you! 🙏
You do what you do. Why is it so complicated? Who cares what anybody else thinks.
Everyone cares what other people think, even if only a little
i am yet to understand what make a good street photography different from some random clicks

What a great video, I couldn't stop watching if I tried. And dogs - YES!!
Glad you enjoyed it!

0:40 happens every time I see Billy’s pics😭😭
The struggle is real!

Agreed, there are those like the protagonist in Perfect Days who photograph purely for their own enjoyment... sometimes I want that life 😂
So.. this is what you are up to in the studio?
In my own little world 😂
A Boosh reference in a photography video, sir?
Someone had to do it
Yeah, I also take photos of dogs. I can't resist to photograph dogs and bikes.
Hate dogs, love cats and your videos.
I'm a dog and cat person, thanks for watching!

Fair!
@@GeorgeHolden And you good sir, do you have a favorite photographer you wish to be?
@@tomjohnson3728 These days perhaps Tavepong Pratoomwong - he's on another level

I was trying 3 different titles, you saw the odd one out! I have like 10 videos with the content you've described, so you might like one of those 😂
@GeorgeHolden I see. haha. I will check more of your videos then. Cheers mate.
Honestly, who will care about your street photos in a few years. I hope at least you yourself
That's the goal, as long as you like it and it feels authentic
is this bad advice for a newbie?
Probably, but this may be useful after a couple of years, depending how often you're practising
I like You.. BUT I do not like dogs.. :( :) :) :)
