Certina DS Action Diver at 38mm should definitely get a mention. At 38mm, ISO-certified diver, 300m water resistance, Powermatic 80 movement, the watch is absolutely a bliss for small wrist wearers who want a decent Swiss automatic diver at affordable price. I used to own one but I realize it was just a bit too small for my wrist. I wish they could release it at 39-41mm to fit more wrist sizes.

    Aviation cocktail:
    2oz gin
    3/4oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
    1/2oz maraschino liqueur
    1/2oz crème de violette
Shake with ice, strain into coupe glass, garnish with lemon and/or cherry. Should be a nice light purple color, primarily from the crème de violette.

    GMT: Phoibos Voyager GMT
    Military watch: Boderry Voyager

Normally, (IMO) Tom tends to knock it out of the park and take these "dial" offs no problem. And while he did bring in the most interesting and varying selections, I think Andrew brings it home this time.
The Seikos - clear winners but the Rally was very nice.
I feel like Andrew took so many Ls he played his selections very safe to get a long sought win.
Either that - or I have become a Seiko fanboi.

I love my Q Timex GMT and thoroughly recommend it. I ordered it in the same configuration as in the video almost a year ago and have not had any issues. The 38mm case is a perfect size, is very comfortable on the wrist with the rubber strap and it looks great. I've nicknames it the Vader. The Swiss movement by the way is a Ronda 505.24H.

Great article, gotta say Seiko are pretty good. The amount of times I've heard reviewers say go for a Hamilton Khaki over the Seiko Field watches if you can afford it, are many. Then in the last week or so, I have heard of 5 anecdotes about how Hamilton Khaki fields fog up as soon as they come anywhere near moisture! Sounds like they have a real issue making water resitant timepieces.

I own a mido Ocean Star and it has one of the best, if not THE best, bracelets I’ve ever seen, not just in the $1,000 price range, this could be said compared to watches with much higher prices. Brushed links with dull edges give this premium vibe. The bracelet fits the wrist perfectly and makes the watch quite pleasant to wear without any worries of clipping hair or dangling noise. The diver’s extension is easy to operate with two push release buttons and makes a lot of sense: when extended to the maximum the watch can be easily worn even wearing a thick diving suit.

    Well done!
The +40 sec/day spec on that Seiko movement swings me to the other side. I know the watch usually does much better, but I have received NOB Seiko running +30 and over, but they have that covered. "It is within specs, mate". Cracking the back voids the warranty and you risk bricking the watch. Seiko, with your pedigree, think of throwing us poor lads a crumb and get that precision down to +20 or even +15. Hopefully the watch will still out perform +20. All IMHO and with a smile of course.
I really like the Serica field watch. I may even save up and buy one.

I really can't get why they declare such bad precision for the Seiko 4R movements, I believe it's because of lack of regulation during assembly and not because of poor movement as one can suppose, because I own quite few of them and, after I regulate them on my timegrapher, they generally are all within +/- 2/4 seconds/day...
The 24h useless subdial of the Boldr (and Seiko) chrono is a total deal breaker for me, also the image at 8:31 is false: the 24h subdial can't indicate that with the other hands in those position. I'd rather go for a VRATISLAVIA CONCEPTUM - HERITAGE CHRONO, same price, but with a more "car inspired" dial and a similar movement without stupid 24h subdials.

Presage for dress? Hmph. Looks more every day to me. How about a Seiko solar tank instead? Dress watches should be thin and discreet (sp?). Field and every day watches definitely need to be solar for accuracy and utility. You can't be adjusting your time every other day on safari. Automatics are ok for every day but you'll have to adjust them on Monday mornings and live with their bulk all the time. I say go solar for accuracy and reliability, specially on an occasional use watch.
