I agree on some posters about the reliability of a BMW, I never missed a periodic maintenance service, I owned one for 10 years. It let me down a number of times leaving me stranded for hours on the road waiting to get towed. Something always craps out of it. I bought a Mustang as replacement, so far besides a bad OEM battery it never let me down, been using it for two years now. But it lacks comfort on long drives and confidence on high speed. Been looking into reviews for replacement.
Watched the first drive video, read the commentary... I recently had a few hours of wheel time behind this RC F I'm going to give my opinion (that's all it is) in response to some of the comments 1) No Manual comments: This automatic shifts as fast as or faster than I can when powershifting.. from clutch pedal in, to shift (already pulling on shifter so it goes right into next gear) to release clutch pedal (flat shifting, not lifting off gas, it's quick enough to not even hit the rev limiter)... This car, press the manual shifter lever in expert mode when you want to shift, and it hits the next gear, no delay at all, and extremely fast shift, with good bite (you FEEL the shift). Yes, being in control of the gear you're in and being able to skip gears, and giving your left leg something to do is great, but this is pretty much the best automatic car I've ever driven.. and I've driven a lot of cars. I would give up my 6 speed manual for this 8 speed auto 2) Price: 62k base model doesn't get you the carbon fiber or torque vectoring differential... But the 62k gets you a torsen rear dif, same engine, same trans, same tuning, same brakes, suspension etc... The torque vectoring differential would DEFINITELY help on a track, but on a car driven on the street I'd prefer the Torsen, - the TVD applies power to the OUTSIDE wheel in a turn, rather than turning into more of a locked differential like the Torsen... It was a little strange feeling a car understeer a bit when you want to break the rear end loose a bit and it definitely has the power to, it also limited the powerslide around corners at low speed that many RWD owners enjoy... Also remember the esteemed supra from the 90s was over 60k for the TT 3) Pictures: I didn't like the car in pictures, either.. In person everything makes more sense, the car looks great, it has a stance that says 'lets go for a ride' - the interior was flawless and extremely well designed. The size of the spindle grille stands out in pictures, but when standing and looking at the car, it goes well with it. 4) Lexus getting too aggressive: Regarding why Lexus is going sporty in all their models... IMO the number of entry level geriatrics/older folk buying cars now grew up with more exciting cars in the market than those that grew up in the 50s, the market for 100% plush cars needs to change... think about it, 1950s a 20 year old was drooling over 57 bel aires, not the most powerful or nimble vehicle but they were hot at the time, corvettes were barely faster but were lighter and lower... In the 90s they were in their 50s and buying luxury cars, remembering floaty sweet rides... in 1970, a 20 year old was drooling over the big blocks and big engine in small car craze. Lexus is still catering to the same age group... But it's more appealing to the younger crowd 5) My last rant.. 0-60 times: Comparing this car to mustangs and AWD cars is kind of a joke, fast FWD cars lose out to fast RWD cars, which lose out to AWD cars (all given same power) it all depends on traction, grip, etc... The RC F would grease the tires in first gear even if hitting at 20 MPH, AWD would not... RC F stoplight race would depend on driver.. I did not try this aspect with traction control on, that may make a difference All told I'm actually amazed at the entry level V8 price, the Supra was higher than this price back in the 90s and it's a LOT more car (maybe not as easily modified to go in a straight line, but handles WAY better on corners/braking and everything else)
Ron doron very very good review i can see your not bias to any brand and that is what i like to see unlike a few others i have seen bashing other car companies so one can sell more and also to give a one sided view towards their favorite brand...keep up the good work
That spindle grill is growing on me. I have to say I am impressed with what Lexus is putting out lately, I'm a BMW loyal, but I can appreciate a great car and Lexus is making a convincing argument to be better than the M4.
I love all cars no hate it’s not like sports to me but Lexus is so reliable pretty and comfy it’s worth every penny I’ve owened 4 so far including rc f well worth it m4 is def hot tho no dought
Looks phenomenal too all in all great car and great review. Reliability is something we don't consider enough and I expect this to be pretty bullet proof
great video! good job! finally a good overall unbiased critique. the car looks absolutely fantastic and i couldnt agree more on the V8 as a first choice.
Love my 2011 BMW 550i X-Drive M-Sport, but I also love the Lexus brand. Why did I decide on a BMW over a Lexus? I simply prefer the styling and the handling of a BMW. I know Lexus is the most reliable brand on the market today and I would definitely consider one down the road, but for now I love BMW and I've only had to change out spark plugs. I've had 0 electrical problems even though the car is 4 years old now, so as far as I am concerned this car is no lemon. Either way, Lexus is really stepping up their game and I like their bold new styling and performance :)
I bought a 2015 rc f in Dec I adore her no regrets she is stunningly gorgeous and fast and amazing in every way worth every penny I will never trade her 4 anything perfect car
Saw one of these yesterday in traffic (Torrance CA, May 8, 2015) before i even had heard of this model. Without a doubt I was impressed. It kind of looked like an Is - Ls love child. Looked good in dark metallic red.
I'm really happy that Lexus has taken this direction because now I can finally own a car like this. Before all your really had was the German brands, and I just don't trust them on reliability..
The grill , The roof , The rear spoiler , And every other single bit of the beauty is perfect , it looks amazing, i sadly cant afford one but if i did , i wouldnt Even think about getting some other car , after all you can stand out with thsi but with german crap you will just blend in . Just my opinion.
6:56 : Eco is a very useful feature when you do long distances. This allows the car to consume around 25 mpg to 28.4, what is ridculously low for a V8 car. It helps the engine to stay on the Atkinson cycle longer in a wider range of situations. When you go to a "normal" trip, where consumption is an issue, this is a great tool.
Current IS-F owner here. I love my car, but unless within the next couple of years that I plan to keep the it there is a new IS-F or the GS-F turns out to be a total beast, my next car will probably be an F80 M3.
This car may be a bit busy in the looks department, but you don't have to worry about this car when the warranty runs out. When the warranty runs out on a BMW or Merc, run, and I mean RUN! I would only lease a German car opposed to owning. This is where Lexus wins me over every time.
I was a huge fan of the way Lexus used to look.. Throughout the 90's they looked absolutely awesome, truly visionary designs that have aged gracefully and still look great today!!.. 2000's Lexus were a bit blander, but the IS and LS still looked good.. But this newest direction... I, I just don't know..
I agree. Original LS still the best looking Lexus hands down. They got the look right coming out the gate in 1990. I've owned both an LS400 (1990) and an LS430 (2002 ultra version), and while the 430 ultra had some really cool interior amenities (features just now being made available in other luxury cars), the exterior was Buick-ugly. The 450 is a slight improvement, but I still like the look of the LS400 the best. When I used to drive my maroon 1990 with (upgraded) low-profile wheels around in the early 2000's, people could not believe it was a 1990 vehicle.
Andrew Arms My favorite LS was the '94 thru '97 model. It somehow managed to look both understated, and imposingly handsome at the same time!! Damn fine automobile! You're right about the 2002 model year though, the ES models were somewhat ugly in those years as well (2000-2003). Still not sure about this new styling direction, it might grow on us, but I dunno. What do you think?
bliglum "It somehow managed to look both understated..." This point is why I believe they've taken a radical direction in styling. While the vehicle may have aged a little more gracefully (which is great for long-term ownership), at the end of the day it's all about sales. Lexus is trying to be, if not appear, cutting edge. Unfortunately, pursuing this can lead to obsolete designs. But as far as Lexus is concerned...that's okay because it just means you have to come back a the dealership to buy another one every 3-6 years, which is the average length of ownership in the US.
As a former BMW and now Lexus owner, what most people seem to forget is that "reliability" shouldn't be the initial selling point if you're leasing the vehicle or planning to get rid of it before the warranty expires. I can say from my experience is that my BMW's did have more issues and my M3 seemed to have issues every other week AFTER its second year (which means I still had 2 years of warranty remaining). To me, Lexus' now are just are fun to drive and with little to none of the German engineering headache. What I tell everyone is this "if you've always wanted a BMW, lease (DO NOT BUY) it for 2 years and let it be someone else headache when you return it." "if you want a Lexus; lease, buy, or buy one used because chances are it will last you 10-15 years". I'm from LA and I know more people that have there 99-00 Lexus models and are still driving them 180k strong and not really so with the BMW's of the same years and later.
I know people may cross shop between this and the C63 Coupe or M4 but IMO this really caters to a different personality. C63 is more purist taste, with less flashiness inside and out and more of that "American Muscle" style feel from a luxury sedan. The M4 seems more appealing if you're more about handling and that classic luxury feel with a bit of pep in the throttle. However, I feel Lexus is gunning more towards the youthful, tech-oriented consumers in much of their newer cars. The RC-F may not be the best option for motor heads but I think it's a great value for those looking for a well-rounded luxury sport coupe without breaking the bank on a 6-series or SL550. Personally, I'm a huge C63 fan boy but I think I'd be happier with an RC-F over the long run.. especially when I calculate resell value and maintenance costs.
Made the ISF even better. Fucking love this car, how it looks, how it sounds, the inside of it, the speed, and oh, its a Lexus. Dragging Ass with Class.
Gorgeous Car. Thank you for the great review. i do love this one a lot more than the New IS. so much nicer looking. HOPE they offer in this Car REAL LEATHER Seats. the reson i didn't buy the IS is because it only comes with Newlux seats (vinyl.. so cheap IMO).
I spent 11k maintenance cost on my 2011 3 series before getting rid of it last year and got a is350. Never buying another German car. Love the bimmer when it worked. Key is when it worked ...
Pedro Pedrosoy That is more reliable and will keep it's value longer than ANY German car... and your point is? Going with Lexus is actually the intelligent choice.
Wow this car looks great I'm stuck between this and an m5 however I'm wondering if the c63 amg gets a re-design for 2015 since the c class was re styled
I would agree that if you plan on owning a car long term the Lexus might be better, my lexus never goes wrong in any way. In the short term, I think the bmw is hard to beat. I think the ATS-V might be the only car to compete with the m3 dynamically.
we just lost our 1995 SC400 due to a 21 year old girl making an illegal left turn in front of my other half at 40. she was hit at 40 MPH in her passenger door.... we went with a 2015 CT200h F Sport!!! love it! waiting on Insurance to pay us...
Rockwood Joe Agreed but remember back then I think the Supra was in the mid 40K range so I would imagine it could be between 50K and 60k now. Hope I am wrong cause it is better looking than this car and this RC looks good to me.
ewt415 the RC f gives you a lot more for the money..lol by the time you option out the cayman to RC f level you looking at over 100k lol. Those who want a big v8 legendary reliability luxury and comfort the rc f would be the better bet.
Caesar Cornelius And that makes the Cayman a poor man's car, how? If anything, that makes the Cayman even LESS of a poor man's car than the RCF because it costs so much more.
ewt415 again a base cayman is cheaper but lacks tech and options vs a rcf so if your talking a pure driving experience than yes the cayman is better. A 335is is considered a poor mans M3 so in that context the wording is fine. Someone who is looking for an m4 rcf rs5 or c63 isn't looking for a cayman anyway. I would rather have a fully loaded v8 rcf or c63 over a cayman any day.
R u serious this lexus is better than all it's German rivals no way Lexus came a long way and the rc f is great but the BMW m4 is way better than the rc f
This guy knows how to give a great car review!
I agree on some posters about the reliability of a BMW, I never missed a periodic maintenance service, I owned one for 10 years. Look no further, get a lexus, all your misery would be a distant memory.
If you don't like this car you can get the ISF
@@bcuz8998 ISF is very very rare
5:48 Lexus has hands down the nicest interior I have ever seen in my life
What a great car! Epic! I just love the look of the RCF. Lexus will definitely have great brand traction with this car.

The beginning of the videos really got me interested to watch the rest. The car just came out of no where, awesome vid
Really good review, enjoyed it all.
Ron doron very very good review i can see your not bias to any brand and that is what i like to see unlike a few others i have seen bashing other car companies so one can sell more and also to give a one sided view towards their favorite brand...keep up the good work

I love my RC F ! extremely rigid and awesome stopping power ! 0-60 in 4.4 seconds cant wait to take it on the track
you are lucky, if you have this car
Nice one, I got the IS350F and now I know I must have the RCF
Filmed this car yesterday! It is even nicer in person!
For Amputees only. That was uncalled for!!!
Life went on
I mean it's true
Glad they have released a performance coupe. Awesome car all round!
Awesome review, and I would choose this Lexus overall just to see how it stands up against the established competition.
Nice review Ron!!!! As always!!! Keep up the good work!

This car looks so badass!
This stunning Lexus RCF makes the M4 look like a 5 dollar hooker😛
i like it alot, but i would prefer the m4 over this, the M4 is a beauty in it self, and very elegant.
Thoroughly impressed! I think it's about time to trade in my G37S for one of these
Wow this thing is gorgeous!!!!!!! Lexus is going big! Now toyota needs new designers and some excitement
Lexus wins again.
Great choice very good review for once no evident bias against non German cars. Looks awesome too
I bought a 2015 rc f in Dec I adore her no regrets she is stunningly gorgeous and fast and amazing in every way worth every penny I will never trade her 4 anything perfect car
sat in one yesterday. hate the body, but absolutely love the interior. back seats need to go
I think they should of made the window trim black or black chrome... that subtle change would make a huge difference in looks.
Saw one of these yesterday in traffic (Torrance CA, May 8, 2015) before i even had heard of this model. Without a doubt I was impressed. It kind of looked like an Is - Ls love child. Looked good in dark metallic red.
+smithraymond09029 Same here. I saw one parked in white in Manhattan. It looks damn good took a few pics. its a great design.
nice review...Ron
Wicked Car..love it in the white!
Beautiful car in and out! Great job lexus
I'm really happy that Lexus has taken this direction because now I can finally own a car like this. Before all your really had was the German brands, and I just don't trust them on reliability..
RS5 for me based on sound and looks alone. But still love all the competition in this class. Great cars.
Beautiful car!!
"my sources tell me that they are not going to do that" JAJAJAJJAJAA
they just did
great reviews bro!
those seats look sick!
My second time watching this vid, damn how fast 11 min goes by when watching a good review! :)
The grill ,
The roof ,
The rear spoiler ,
And every other single bit of the beauty is perfect , it looks amazing, i sadly cant afford one but if i did , i wouldnt Even think about getting some other car , after all you can stand out with thsi but with german crap you will just blend in .

For around 70k I can get a c7 vette lt3 pack. But still the RCF is a great machine
This would be a great addition to my 2013 IS-F.
This is the only Lexus I would consider buying.
+ECDT1089 LFA all day bra...
Awesome car, Awesome review! Keep it up! Greeting from The Netherlands
Sweet whip...
Beautiful, but I think it goes faster than 170 mph. The older ISF goes 175 mph. I also think it 0 to 60 mph should be better.
ISF was electronically limited to 270kph or 170mph. RCF is probably limited, just the same..
That's why it has a secret 6th mode ;)
Current IS-F owner here. I love my car, but unless within the next couple of years that I plan to keep the it there is a new IS-F or the GS-F turns out to be a total beast, my next car will probably be an F80 M3.
imo this looks beautiful
looks beautiful.
Great Review! Great car too!
I like the looks but that's just my opinion.
i like it too
Very stylish!
It needs some refinement. There are too many lines. The LFA is still the most beautiful Lexus because it looks aggressive but not complicated
chris bona People need to see it in person, it's actually a really good looking car
im in love with the coco
The Cts V 2016 will smoke all the competition.
wow... this car looks great and sounds amazing! Blue one please! hehe
This car may be a bit busy in the looks department, but you don't have to worry about this car when the warranty runs out. When the warranty runs out on a BMW or Merc, run, and I mean RUN! I would only lease a German car opposed to owning. This is where Lexus wins me over every time.
I need this in my life OMG
Great review, great car... I hope I have the money to get behind one too.
the era of lexus has begun
Great presenter, very detailed-orientated. Subscribed!
hmmmm that lexus is sooooooooooooo sexyyyyyayayyayyy i love lexus best car brand ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed

JRGUSC Very true. Lexus was becoming the geriatrics choice! They were taking the place of old Cadillac. I guess it called for drastic measures.

This is nice, but I'm waiting for the Toyota FT-1 which will make every other car owner envious
This is what the BRZ should've been, I love cars with smooth panels and sharp edges!
Made the ISF even better. Fucking love this car, how it looks, how it sounds, the inside of it, the speed, and oh, its a Lexus. Dragging Ass with Class.
This looks great - but the original ZZ3x SC was so much better looking.
Those look cool.. I wish I could afford one.
Gorgeous Car.
Thank you for the great review.
i do love this one a lot more than the New IS. so much nicer looking.
HOPE they offer in this Car REAL LEATHER Seats.
the reson i didn't buy the IS is because it only comes with Newlux seats (vinyl.. so cheap IMO).

rcf is such a sexy looking car. love it.

Awesome car! :)
You prefer this over an Audi RS5?? Jajaja estas loco man!!
0-60 4.4 sec?? Rs5 3.9 :D y se maneja mejor ya que es AWD. German Engineering my friend!! If I spend 65k in car deff wouldnt be in a toyota lol
jrarael90 The RS5 is rated at 4.5 seconds to 60mph and its $72,000.
If you add the options to this car would be close as the audi in price, and icheck motortrend for the 0-60
Well, pretty obvious your ignorance. E imagino que no escribes bien ni en tu propio idioma :)
jrarael90 el RS5 es el auto más aburrido en esta clase.
Holy shit they filmed this in my hometown!
wow! awesome car!!
Can the traction control go fully off on the RCF?
Whats wrong with eco mode?
How come most car interior still lag in vision. Especially the radio area.
we just lost our 1995 SC400 due to a 21 year old girl making an illegal left turn in front of my other half at 40. she was hit at 40 MPH in her passenger door.... we went with a 2015 CT200h F Sport!!! love it!

Will the RC-F platform be reworked later into a Supra? Please Toyota!
I think this will be the engine.
Phantom096 Whatever power plant the Supra uses, it needs to be cheaper than a $60k vehicle. $40k is more palatable to the working man.
Rockwood Joe Agreed but remember back then I think the Supra was in the mid 40K range so I would imagine it could be between 50K and 60k now. Hope I am wrong cause it is better looking than this car and this RC looks good to me.
***** I take it people call U Captain Obvious a lot huh!
***** Yes the FT-1 is the new Supra! Thanks
How about rc350 , will u make a video for it
It's needs a set of wider tired to make it look a little more aggressive from the side profile .
He shouldn't have said "secret 6th mode""
Now I can't get it out of my head!!!!
how easy is it to join the FBI?
The front seat looks soooo good. Back seats WHY?
So the GT86 and Tc are not coupes?
Glad they didn't go turbo, every v8 lexus has ever made has been bulletproof past 300, 400k
Ugly taken into a whole new level
Hear that German badge snobs? It's the sound of your overrated underreliable Teutonic POS being dumped on their butts by Lexus.
Pedro Pedrosoy Cayman isn't a real Porsche is a poor man's 911, and the Cayman has less power than the RC F
Caesar Cornelius So someone who spends $70,000 on a Cayman is buying a "poor man's" car, but someone who spend $70,000 on an RC-F is not? Logic.
ewt415 the RC f gives you a lot more for the money..lol by the time you option out the cayman to RC f level you looking at over 100k lol.
I would rather have a fully loaded v8 rcf or c63 over a cayman any day.
where's the rev limiter at?
2.52 "ass shot"....... I like this guy.
Why is the car not all wheel drive ???
Impressive car, but I'm more impressed by Ron's calves.
R u serious this lexus is better than all it's German rivals no way Lexus came a long way and the rc f is great but the BMW m4 is way better than the rc f
It's debatable.
I would put both on a tie. Though RC-F will outlast M4 and its V8 can produce up to north of 500hp reliably.
Kenneth Martin Negative Kenneth...
M4 is def better ...
Both car are great. But I definitely go with the lexus
RC-F this time. It looks way better and really stands out.
Yes please
