For the sake of fair comparison, *adjusted for inflation* the 2005 & 2006 versions of this thing were $110 USD with ~100 less pieces, while the 2010 one would be $131 with ~240 more pieces.
Jang, I have a question, you say you get all your sets from Amazon or from stores but I can never find some of these sets and this weekend I looked for the newer Halo sets you have done reviews on and at Target, Wal-Mart, nor ToysRus had any of the newest halo sets so what state are you in cause I'm in Missouri?
Actually fun fact, the original design for the clone turbo tank dates all the way back to the Empire Strikes back. When the prequels came along, George Lucas decided to finally use the model and also make it 10x bigger.
I like the fact that this set along with the figures gives off vibes from this one legends comic (still cannon in my eyes) where Order 66 happened, the clones killed Luminara and and attempted to blow up Quin in that tank. the comic focuses on Quinn as he survives being Hunted down by the clones and their crazy commander
Oh yes, good to know someone still remembers the old clone wars comics. That one was called "The hidden enemy". I always loved the comics focusing on Quinn and that one was no exception.

This set does look good, but it does have its flaws: the tires should be black to be more accurate to the actual thing, and it does need a couple more clone trooper minifigures. It is a CLONE Turbo Tank after all. I don't like the stud shooter on the walker, but that's just my personal opinion.
Actually, the clone turbo tank had concept art before the AT-AT and they almost had the juggernaut in the empire strikes back on hoth instead of the latter.
I feel like Lego are starting to decrease in creativity and value. While their prices have increased, the sets haven't really justified the price increase. The previous Clone Turbo Tank had a lot more space and creativity within its design, while this one seems to lack these features. To be honest, I don't think Lego are creating a good impression for their sets in recent months. But hey, just my opinion here.
1) Licensing fees are not solely responsible. More & more LEGO City sets have outrageous prices, no license fees involved. 2) Making products customers want is hardly "selling out." It's making products customers want.
+JANGBRiCKS I would agree. Lego is definitely increasing the price range more than it needs to be. As for products sold, the focal point of success should be customer satisfaction, not the quantity of items sold. I do understand what the other person was saying though, have a nice day!
henry pendle I have done. Im not a great fan on the Call Of Duty line, but I definitely like the Halo line. Sure, the parts quality isn't as good, neither is the growing incidences where parts are missing. But, for what they lack in frustration, Mega Bloks gains the superiority in detail and the capturing of the looks of both Vehicles and Figures.
For people complaining about size, the thing still holds 12 troopers. 3 in the front, 2 on top, 1 in the back, and with very slight modification( moving two tiles over) the main cabin holds 6. You can probably jerryrig even more in there if you wanted.
I want an Official UCS Juggernaut. Who's with me? Personally, my favorite incarnation was the 2005/06 version because of how many minifigs it came with. I felt like that one had more playablility.
I love that they added a Quinlan Vos minifig. He never appears in Episode III on Kashyyyk but in the underrated comic series Star Wars: Republic, he appears and actually survived Order 66. I am so glad that Lego took some inspiration from the Legends continuity for this set.
The design was not an “early prototype” of the AT-AT, since the first rendition of the AT-AT set was released in the early 2000’s, and the rear command center doesn’t swivel on a neck. The other, older, version of this set, my personal favorite, the Clone Wars version, has the same dark gray area, used to store a gun rack. Also the scaling of this set doesn’t portray the scale of the actual vehicle, while the Clone Wars version is larger and scales okay, not the best, but it’s hard to make a 1-1 replica in LEGO, especially if you look at the actual schematics of the vehicle, which fit at least 20 troops and personnel, and that manned turret on the top really grinds my gears because it just makes the size comparison even more noticeable, and that’s already talking about the lookout post.
This is a good set. We get two clone vehicles instead of 1 droid one too. It's great if you're building MOC's because it's a big vehicle and a common small vehicle.
Jang, your reviews are just perfect! I watch them for the quality, your voice and your way of reviewing in general. I will definetly be getting this set for christmas!
Clint Eastwood no, because we have so many yodas, would rather have quinlan than yoda, or they could take out the droids, add yoda and another standerd kashyyyk trooper
I would presume that the AtAt resembles the tank because as the empire came out of the republic, so did a few of their weapons and vehicles, the AtAt is simply an upgraded(depending on your view) Clone Turbo Tank.
+Cubes4u Ehhh too much of an extreme stretch IMO. This has the AT-AT body _backwards_ . That'd never happen in real world design evolution, plus walkers wouldn't use the same design as wheeled vehicles as their core physical factors are so extremely different. I can't help but see this as exactly what it is, real-world designers pushing hard to recycle old concepts for what eventually became iconic objects, simply to do so..
JANGBRiCKS ok, thanks for enlightening me on this point, I thought it would've been a stretch but possible, then again what you say is probably correct as with so many vehicles and machines it can be difficult for designers to come up with completely original concepts
I think the major point of all the similarities between the original trilogy and prequels was to keep fans interested by creating visual links and hints between the different eras. Instead of criticizing lucasarts on mechanical viability, I think their main objective was to make all the vehicles familiar to those of us who were raised on the old trilogy. (jedi ships were all triangular and had tie fighter-ish panels, v-wing ships sounded like tie fighters, etc, etc). I think these similarities are quite deliberate as opposed to laziness as you imply. I think it's fair to say that the creative team at Lucasarts had the budget and talent to come up with new designs, but the only way to bridge the generations was to deliberately have design tributes in everything to make us older folks smile a bit. I think they very much intended us to wonder if the clone tank was a pre-cursor to the AT-AT before it was a walking vehicle, like a modular design. It would be fair to imagine that in wartime they would re-use a lot of existing designs and materials in new designs to save on production cost and time. You could argue that the fusilage shape was battle proven in the tank and was used on the future AT-AT design. That's me just thinking as a an old veteran lol. nonetheless, it's fun to imagine. My $.02
Great set, but this looks a bit too much like a midi scale Turbo Tank... Just like the recent AAT, MTT and other sets, it has been over minimized and is not anywhere near to proper minifigure scale unlike the previous versions that did a better job with that. It is true with regards to "quality over quantity" with most things but when quantity plays a role in the quality it self, that's a different story. Just like one can't drive to work on a Hot Wheels Ford, others can't create more-or-less minifigure scale battles films or animations with this model. If I was someone who never owned any of the previous versions, I would be disappointed if I had to buy this one, especially for the amount of plastic we get in that price. Great review Jang! Enjoyed every moment!
As an owner of 8098, I don't want to say that the old one is better in any means (lack of troop transport space, for example). But to me personally, the 2016 version is way smaller (which does make it fit better on display, I'll give it that) which makes it an unnecessary purchase for me. The set itself is both fine and amazing, just feels unnecessary if you already have either the 2012 or even the 2005 version. That, and I'm quite a picky collector, buying only specific sets which speak to me. Still going to hunt that Luminara figure though! She looks awesome!
Bob Simpson In the case of the X-Wings, since both are still available, the choice you have is based on one factor: do you want to have one based of one particular individual (in this case Poe's) which stands out, or do you want to have a more uniformed version of the ship (AKA the Resistance)? I admit that neither do the trick for me, but if the choice was given to me, that would be the decisive factor to take into account.
I have the 2010 version and I really like it (I just modified it so it's even better now) and I think it's by default better than the 2005 version, but I actually really like the look of this version (2016), I'm definitely going to get one when they start appearing in stores around here. Best version thus far IMO
I agree... I just love the 2010 version because its so bland, there are not many colors on it which I think fits the tank itself. That's just my opinion but the new one is pretty cool!
I've been tempted to get this since it's down to $80 bucks where I live, but I honestly like the 2010 one best. It looks the most solid. Also this was originally designed for Empire Strikes Back, hence the AT-AT appearance. It never showed but in-canon they were at the Battle of Hoth.
Hey Jang the suspension for the wheels of the Clone Turbo Tank reminds me of those low rider cars to some extent & the off road vehicles that use suspension to get over various terrain.
TBH, I can't like this Turbo Tank, mainly b/c I own the 2010 one myself. While Luminara Unduli is great, the previous ones had much more. The 2005 one had Mace Windu, Clone Commander, and a aerial trooper for the 1st time, plus Mace lit up.. The 2010, or the best one, had Aayla Secura and Cad Bane. The stud shooters do really ruin the look, while both 2005 and 2010 ones look realistic. This one is quite small, and the tower is ridiculous.
+Skelanaizer Skelanaizer It's not just size my friend. The old variants have been more realistic as well. And yes, it still had many features that appealed to kids. Heh, I bought the 2010 one when I was 9.
the Juggernaut was a precursor to the All Terrain Armored Transport but i don't know about you personally i think it is more lethal and does not have an easy to exploit weakness.
Tbh, I don't like it as much as I thought I would. It looks amazing and detailed in the outside, but the inside left me wishing for more. The lack of space for figures and exposed technic beams are a downside for me. But overall, it seems pretty cool. Thanks Jang!
Thank you so much for the review. My son has been a fan of the TurboTank since the last version released. As a minor comment, I think the dorsally mounted weapon would better be called a "pintle-mounted" whatever rather than turret.
dear Jang, i know that im just one comment among many but can i tell you something that really gets on my nerves: the prices for the Lego in the us compared to hear in the uk. for example, i really wanted to get this set, because it looks awesome, but i am surprised how much it costs. 110 dollars doesn't equal 100 pounds. it is more like 75 pounds. but some how lego still makes us pay that much. i understand that there is a more competitive market in the us, but that is such a big difference.
+JANGBRiCKS thank you for reviewing this set!! and i've been thinking after i watch this...why don't you make a mad max car??? custom mad max car used from the set drag race from speed champions??
Hi Jang, as always great review! I honestly think this new version is excellent & I really really want to get it! However my one gripe with this set is the lack of clones! So far the Turbo tank is the second largest set of the year but only has two clones, I mean they give us two more droids, I don't understand why they wont give us more clones. Its also annoying that they've bee doing this since 2013 with only small amounts of clones!
Nostalgia notwithstanding, one thing ye olde tank(namely the ROTS one) has over this, IMO, is the figure focus. Getting new Jedi characters is nice and all, but I feel like there's something to be said for the original's staggering amount of just plain clones(counting the jet trooper, commander and BARC speeder guy). There was something cool about just having something of an army already there for you in the one set, IMO.
@@Faylayx I like this way more than the previous versions. Better detail, more features, better minifigs, more display value, even though I have a brain. I wouldn't be typing this if I didn't have one.
I love AT-RTs and this one is great, I just wish they would use the creature foot that was used for the old dinosaurs as well as the old Wheelbike vs Boga set, as the AT-RT has a 3-toed foot. The size is accurate though. I love Gree and the other figs are pretty great too.
I already have the 2010 one but I will get this set as well even though it's too small for its price... At least I will get Quinlan Vos, Aayla will finally have her master in my collection! Now all we need is a Tholme figure and everything would be okay, although that will probably never happen haha.
I think the wheels from the 2010 set should have stayed but there are some better features on this set. The one thing Lego NEEDS to get down is that bulky under carriage. They've never captured how big it really is down there. I guess they skip on it for the suspension but you could easily fix that with the proper details IMO.
I don't understand why the missiles have to be so long. It'd be cool if only the front of the missile was laser colored, and the rest was black or gray.
+Narwhocalypse If they're too short, kiddos could swallow them. The main reason they stopped making them in the 70s - remember Boba Fett with the rocket shooting backpack?
Jang, nice review again. Q: do you own all the SW minifigs from the 1st set up to now and if so, do you have them in a display? Can't really wait for your new SW reviews. Thanks and have a great day.
It looks interesting, and there are plenty of parts that would be awesome for the earlier models. That being said, we could really use a side by side comparison of each of the vehicles to better understand the differences. As is, it is painfully obvious that the 2010 version is the better deal.
The biggest Problem I have with this big star wars sets is, that they were built with lots of grey plates and pieces and the surface have to many studs. Lego should use More colours like metallic silver and add some flat tiles or big plates with less studs. That would look much better.
Well, I'm going to have to take off all the tan and replace it with gray, + make the driver's controls more realistic + make it so two people can be in the back driver's seats. Change out the back gun with a better, more cooler version. Add more red. take off the flick missile things on the sides + the turning gun things behind them. For the top, take off the turret and make the observation tower like the first turbo tank's tower or just take it off. AT-RT's gun don't work. going to have to make my own gun. good for kids, but not for teens. minifigures are grate.
+PURGE JMI you're right, that was rude of me, I'm sorry for saying that. I do think that it is great that you plan on modifying the set to make be your own.
For the sake of fair comparison, *adjusted for inflation* the 2005 & 2006 versions of this thing were $110 USD with ~100 less pieces, while the 2010 one would be $131 with ~240 more pieces.

MADVIKING19 What did you search cause I'm having trouble on that and how much is the duel warthog?
That thing is awesome!
but the 2010 is bigger and fits the at wacer

+JANGBRiCKS Well, will you do build a Star Wars World?
could you do quake beast from bionicle next?
please answer me please
I love your videos jang
Really wish I got this before it retired.
You can still get it for a pretty reasonable price on Bricklink.
I got it 110€ from Finland
They should have sold battle packs with two of those small walkers and a wee command post with 5 clones in it
Anybody else ready for a UCS Turbo Tank?
Yes
+Jacob Brown artifix creation has the closest thing to that until lego officially does one.
+Braxton Bynote true
Hmm... What if they did that instead of both this year?
yes,iam ready to see the amazing details
This set does look good, but it does have its flaws: the tires should be black to be more accurate to the actual thing, and it does need a couple more clone trooper minifigures. It is a CLONE Turbo Tank after all. I don't like the stud shooter on the walker, but that's just my personal opinion.
I love the AT-RT walker. Good video Jang!
Remember when this showed up in Rogue One?
Actually, the clone turbo tank had concept art before the AT-AT and they almost had the juggernaut in the empire strikes back on hoth instead of the latter.
The Clone Turbo Tank _is_ the early concept that eventually led to AT-AT, that's what I was referencing.
for being a *CLONE* turbo tank i'm disappointed at the lack of clones.
Maximilien Caporossi your referring to the 2010 version. But at the time, clone troopers were all over the place, compare to now.
I feel like Lego are starting to decrease in creativity and value. While their prices have increased, the sets haven't really justified the price increase. probably makes people buy the cheaper ones then
Yes I think the price is apauling it's really a rip off its quite sad
When will Lego learn that we don't always want stud shooters everywhere! They're fine when used in moderation
Idk...
Because kids do like them
I found this set at a comic book shop for 65 bucks and picked it up! Can't wait to build it :)
We need a USC Clone turbo tank with real suspension, full steering and more interior space.
For people complaining about size, the thing still holds 12 troopers. 3 in the front, 2 on top, 1 in the back, and with very slight modification( moving two tiles over) the main cabin holds 6. You can probably jerryrig even more in there if you wanted.
And probably one in the crate storage compartment.
I'm loving the Quinlon Voss minifig.
episode 3 was my favorite SW prequel hands down. But that kashyk clone trooper, man, I've been waiting for to do some moc-ing with
What am I doing with the figure?
I can't believe I never noticed how similar this is to an AT-AT... makes sense now that i think of it.
Psychopathogen WOW! Never noticed it
When I saw that coffee mug, that just made me happy
This is my second favorite prequel set (my favorite is “palpatine’s arrest”)
Are you going to make a comparison video of the lego turbo tanks?
I want an Official UCS Juggernaut. Who's with me?
Personally, my favorite incarnation was the 2005/06 version because of how many minifigs it came with. I felt like that one had more playablility.

I honestly think they should start doing the Angry Clone Face™ in Medium Flesh, as Temuera Morrison is Māori.
Thank you, I always thought something was off.
Do you feel they included enough minifigures in this for a $110 set? I would have liked to see another 41st elite scout and maybe an AT-RT driver.
I don't think the choice of mini figures were very good either. They should have added a couple of wookies and take out Quinlan Vos and put in yoda

First time noticing that this is an AT-AT on wheels...
Nah mat8 an atat is this on legs
Looks cool. Will buy . Great video Jang.
I love this set
Probably for me, as a big episode 3 fan is the walker and the mini figures...It just seems the tank is basically the one from the clone wars set
Can you compare it to the older turbo tank sets?
I still love the 2005 more
Nothing will beat the 2010 turbo tank
I've been tempted to get this since it's down to $80 bucks where I live, but I honestly like the 2010 one best. It looks the most solid.

+Skelanaizer Skelanaizer It's not just size my friend. The old variants have been more realistic as well. And yes, it still had many features that appealed to kids. Heh, I bought the 2010 one when I was 9.
Brick Gamer
Exactly. It was the best of both worlds while this is a pure playset with very little display value.
Me and my brother are making a massive kashyyyk MOC and the manoeuvrability in the wheels will be perfect for traversing the terrain
Alexander Sinkins I’m making a Jedi vs sith moc lol
I got that for Christmas and man it is tiny ,but good for making mocs.
the Juggernaut was a precursor to the All Terrain Armored Transport but i don't know about you personally i think it is more lethal and does not have an easy to exploit weakness.
i love these large vehicles. stuff the characters, i love my 2010 turbo tank, 2012 atat, and 2013 atte. its like a simple version of airfix.
I love the 2012 atat
Thank you for the review!
Tbh, I don't like it as much as I thought I would. It looks amazing and detailed in the outside, but the inside left me wishing for more. The lack of space for figures and exposed technic beams are a downside for me. But overall, it seems pretty cool. Thanks Jang!
Totally agree man. Totally
110 dollars doesn't equal 100 pounds. it is more like 75 pounds. but some how lego still makes us pay that much. i understand that there is a more competitive market in the us, but that is such a big difference.
love the figures, only thing that bugs me is the eye area on the clone trooper's helmet is waaaaaay above where his actual eyes are, lol.
The 2010 one is cheap on eBay right now, 1100 pieces, more interior space, and a command post plus walker
Thanks so much for these reviews!!! Before I decide I want to buy a set I watch your reviews a lot
The wheels look too toy-like for what's supposed to be a military vehicle
+A Rather Interesting Human You do have a point there.
+JANGBRiCKS so cool is,cool I can use this for my lego war
+JANGBRiCKS thank you for reviewing this set!! and i've been thinking after i watch this...why don't you make a mad max car??? custom mad max car used from the set drag race from speed champions??
I agree, the tires need to be more knobby and larger!
Should I get this for Christmas? I want to get this with a republic gunship and kashyyk battle pack but I want to know if it's good enough?
I think its good get it! *DEW IT*
This is pretty cool dew it
All the sets you listed have been retired
It's basically both of those in one so get the TANK 😁
@@notanundesirable He is probably gonna get me off bricklink, Amazon, or eBay.
awesome first look Jang. thanks.
can you do a comparison of the 3 generations of turbo tanks/juggernauts that Lego has released?
wide elastics on the wheels for traction. the motorized version looked interesting, except for the space taken up inside.
This set looks like it might be worth picking up with the fortrex and Bionicle 2016 sets for me.
I am getting this set. It looks so cool.
It's funny how people "hate" the prequels, but when it comes to a vehicle like this, it seems so great!
When you reviewed the 2006 turbo tank I was expecting to see the 2011 one as well before you did the comparison. Are you going to get the 2011 one?
can you do the A-wing + Vader tie next?
The 2010 one was so much better honestly
Well not everyone has nostalgia for the 2010 one.
@@just--facts but everyone has a brain
@@Faylayx I like this way more than the previous versions. Better detail, more features, better minifigs, more display value, even though I have a brain. I wouldn't be typing this if I didn't have one.
It was still on a shelf, I got a good discount on it
I love AT-RTs and this one is great, I just wish they would use the creature foot that was used for the old dinosaurs as well as the old Wheelbike vs Boga set, as the AT-RT has a 3-toed foot. The size is accurate though. I love Gree and the other figs are pretty great too.
LOL. Love the mug
Yesssss no more clone wars faces!
Well... #CLONEWARSSAVED
My last Lego set was the previous version of this and I got it back in middle school , but now the inner kid me wants this set!!!
I have never gotten a previous clone turbo tank and I like this new version best
this is my favourite set
Hey JANG does the build for the clone turbo tank feel the same as the previous versions of this set?
i hope they will release a clone trooper battlepack in phase 2! in the future
Well there first battlepack was with phase 2 clones and last year and the year before they had phase 2 clone battle packs
I really want them to do more clone wars stuff like a UT-AT or another corporate alliance tank or a crab droid set.
Can you do a comparison with the other two tanks?
Only 4 mini figs for that huge tank is disapointing
everyone hates the clone wars minifigures but I love them
I already have the 2010 one but I will get this set as well even though it's too small for its price...
I kinda want it for the parts... not for the set itself.
Can't wait to get this set this summer!!!!
the juggernaut tank was actually in the EU in the 90s before it was in the movies
Jang, please answer! What should I buy? Shuttle Tydirium or this set? Thanks!
Cody Kamino My opinion would be the Turbo Tank. There is a lot more value.
Skaidaren // WasItSky especially with uliminaria and gree
The Tydirium, however, is much more iconic and it looks phenomenal - looks-wise, it's basically a UCS set in playset-disguise.
I think it's supposed to look like an ATAT. Many republic designs evolved into the empire designs.
Ahh was waiting for this, I have the 2nd Version of the Turbo tank - Lego definitely going action features over design and detail IMO.
I really want a new ATTE and a New Republic Gunship soon I will buy this though
I will probably mod this so it works with the drop ship
The biggest Problem I have with this big star wars sets is, that they were built with lots of grey plates and pieces and the surface have to many studs. Lego should use More colours like metallic silver and add some flat tiles or big plates with less studs. That would look much better.
There should be a Lego Rudegoldberg Machine set. It would be cool with all the pieces they have.
Grates are good for cheese, not for opinions.
That's all you got to say, not "those are good ideas" or something nice, no. not you. Y would you? lol, Grammar Nazi.
+PURGE JMI you're right, that was rude of me, I'm sorry for saying that. I do think that it is great that you plan on modifying the set to make be your own.
ty
Don't mean to be rude but if you are going to change the whole thing, why buy it
