I dont think cruz is out of his prime at all. He literally looked as good as ever, and I would actually, boldly, say that version of cruz is one of the best I've ever seen. Waht makes you say he is out of his prime?
That's an interesting take, I'm nowhere near a Cruz fan but Cruz had 2 or 3 title defenses at chito's age while chito may or may not get a belt ever. To say his style is low level just sounds crazy lol
The one problem I see for Vera is the way he fights he won't win by decision. It's finish or bust. He doesn't throw volume & tends to let the other guy lead the dance.
Yeah, against guys like TJ, Yan, or Sterling who are active all five rounds, it may be tough to beat them. But Chito seems big for the weight and has a lot of power for the weight too. And he doesn't take a lot of damage.
Cruz has literally replaced his youthfulness with pure hard work and refining his movement and signature style. A master of the sport for real. Shows how good chito is because Dom looked as good as ever
As good as Dom is he has a glaring hole. His defense relies on him ducking or dodging to an obvious side. At some point in a 5 round fight someone will time a hit that he moves into. Henry did it and now Chito
Don't get too cocky too Soon . Chito isn't even a Champion Yet or even fighting for the Title and Dom was Last WEC Champion+ the first UFC Bantamweight champion. Chito was getting beat handedly before the KO. It was a great KO, but if Dom was low level, he would have ran through Cruz, which he definitely didn’t. Props to chito but don’t throw shade at a vet who paved the way for every bantamweight today.
Marlon Vera is 29 and at his prime. He says that Cruz is "low level" but he is nowhere on the level that Cruz was at 29. He would not have touched a 29 year old Cruz. He seems to slow for the top 5. I think Sandhagen would piece him apart.

Struggling to understand if anyone actually watched the video? He says his style is low level meaning how he executes his techniques are fundamentally flawed. That’s always been true of Cruz and what has made his style so unique. Throws looping punches, constantly breaks his base, etc. but he’s made it uniquely his own and taken it to the top.
Guys. Give chito his credit, he's alot smarter than he looks. Dom is still Dom, chito has an incredible ability to adjust on the fly. He figured out his timing. Dom might be 37 but has way less miles on him than most his age, shit happens in the fight game.
Cruz has probably one of the highest fight IQs I've ever seen, he was using all his years of experience and strategy and yet still lost, really impressive
His fight IQ isn’t that great if he doesn’t know how to understand that his opponent was setting up that high kick from southpaw after the first round. Any time Chito switched to southpaw he was making Dom lean and circle out. If he had high fight IQ he would’ve made the adjustments after being dropped in the first round and not allowed himself to get dropped another 3 times before being KO’d😂😂😂
@@dare_he_is you could say the same thing about chito being taken down and being hit 2-1. So calm down bro. Stop trying to be contrary just to make yourself feel better. Chito has a monster chin and Dominick Cruz doesn't that was the story of the fight

@@thetruthseeker8142 no he’s not at all, Chito kind of diminished his own win by saying that. Doms a great fighter but his style is figured out by now and it’s too late to change it. Chito has one of the best chins in MMA. Tough af and super calculated. He just stalks his opponent, takes mental images of the habits and mistakes they make, and capitalizes at the right moment. Awesome to see how far he's come from his first fight in the UFC. 5 round Chito is a problem for anyone at 135.
Also avoiding shots way more than I originally thought. You see his face after is completely clean after these recent fights, and if you rewatch them, you see he’s blocking close shots and rolling with the punches that get through, taking the power away from them.
I see a lot of BS comments. Think the most important thing that’s being missed is how much Chito talks about gratitude & how it’s not about being the champion but being grateful for the journey & the opportunity to live out his dreams. That’s a special message. Awesome journey to see Chito on. Can’t wait to see where he goes
Fr nothing wrong with a man whose confident in his ability and performance. So what the guy steps on some toes with his comments? The way is see it is that as long as Vera keeps winning and knocking people out, he can talk all he wants.
Saying his style isn't good for MMA is such a brain-dead comment. Cruz is a legend with wins over Munhoz, Faber x2, Dillashaw, Benavidez x2 & Demetrious Johnson.
It worked at the time but the skill ceiling of bantamweight has raised. Notice you referenced a lot of old-school fights relatively speaking. Sure chito's comment is harsh but he's not mincing word
@@abacaxi6929 Lol, Cruz is 37 years old with numerous injuries. It's the other way around. He lost his speed and chin to some extent. It has nothing to do with Old school, it has to do with old age. The new fighters are also coached by Old school coaches only.
“i think the way dominic fights is very low level” then you should be embarrassed for fighting him. but you love fighting guys who were former champs when you watched the sport as a kid and fighters who should’ve retired 5-10 years ago
You guys don’t seem to understand the dom was looking less and less dangerous as the fight went on even if he won both of the rounds. Dom has great movement but it comes at a cost. Dom was constantly moving when he didn’t need to and used a lot of energy meanwhile chito was stalking his prey with precision and power.
He makes good points about this footwork only hands low style. You rarely see guys knocking out their opponents with this much movement. Chito has the patience to really sit down on and time his punches so much better than guys focused on moving all over the place. Styles truly make fights.
Dominick out worked him but did shit damage. Started to gas by the third, and in the 4th round he slipped the same way twice, the first time Vera was going to throw a cross but then pulled it. Next time he jabbed head kicked.
@@cyberedwing he's out of prime. His speed's not there as much as it used to be and his chin isn't quite there anymore. To say he's not in his prime is delusional.
It didnt even have to be a hard kick, as you saw it landed on the foot. Dom quite literally lost because of the very thing that was winning him the fight, the footwork is golden besides the occasional rhythm step on the exit. The head movement is useful for avoiding straight and loopy punches, unfortunately the shin to foot with a kick creates a larger danger zone with a lot less effort.
First he disrespected Frankie Edgar by flipping him off during their fight, & now he is talking shit about Dom after their fight & Cruz was winning! If he keeps this attitude he can guarantee he will get his ass handed to him when he gets up to the top 5 of the division! And he should! 🤨
I love the way Chito fights. No wasted movement, no wasted energy, everything he throws means something. 8n other words, he fights like it is a FIGHT. He also has an amazing ability to stand in front of volume strikers and not take damage. His boxing guard is elite. BUT this style may get him on the wrong side of decisions against guys at the very top of the division.
thats how it was looking like when Dom was in rhythm but Vera anticipated him ducking his head and caught him with a flush head kick. I was rooting for Dom but I knew it was only a matter of time before Vera landed flush, he was dropping Dom with shots that didn't appear as powerful as they were.
Everyone saying Dom was piecing chito up, please put your glasses on and look at chitos face. He literally took no fucking damage, all that output from Dom and had zero damage behind it.
@PJ Rivera He was getting touched, but I really don’t think he was getting pieced up. His defense is solid, parried a lot of shots and the shots that landed really didn’t do any damage. I dunno, Cruz looked good but it was obvious he wasn’t going to hurt Chito
ANYONE who actually fights or spars knows that headlock Chito through was Calculated and planned from the beginning. He was never “losing” this fight, he was stalking, and waiting for the perfect set up. Look at Edgar, Font, now Cruiz- Chito fights SLOW. And his defence is INSANE. He takes no damage despite being “out struck ”, and all his opponents like they took hammer shots to the face. In his eyes he’s not wrong for saying Don’s style is levels lower, because he clearly showed how he was able to exploit. I genuinely don’t believe that Chito EVER felt threatened. And guys, face it MMA is changing too. We’re watching our favourite fighters be replaced but that’s the game
I actually had Chito 2-1 up 1&3 Dom was just bum rushing in the first and didn’t land anything but a few kicks but he was sat down and put in a sub attempt he had to scramble out of
I’m glad there are some people who watch and actually understand what’s going on. It’s silly seeing all this “Cruz was piecing him up”. In reality Vera was never in danger and dropped Cruz every single round except I believe the second.
I find Chito to be a little bit disrespectful at times, and maybe a little confused. Dom looked pretty good tonight and was winning the fight. When Chito touched him, it hurt - but this didn’t look like a guy running through a low level fighter.
@jay f guess you should pay attention to the official scorecards that had Dom up 29-28 going into the 4th. Helps to pay attention to things like official scorecards when calling other people confused.
Yea all for clicks and views. Chito is right tho with the way fighters are fighting now dom's style no longer works as well as it used to especially with the lack of power compared to chito's insane power
If Merab Dvalishvili wins his fight against Jose Aldo I could see that as a possible title eliminator bout, or running it back with O’Malley if he beats Petr Yan. Lots of interesting movements in the 135 division
Much as I dislike OMophead O'Malley he probably can win against Vera with his volume and long reach ... if his legs hold up and Vera has good kicks ... so ...hmmm maybe Vera is the one to bet on .... lol . That is why we watch .
How many rounds did it take every other bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight Cruz ever fought? (Henry didn't KO Dom). Vera earned the right to brag.
Chito said himself in multiple interviews “it’s a five round fight there’s no need to rush” don’t forget he dropped that low level with a fucking jab lol go cry
Had a chance to get tons of fans on board after that finish, probably left with less, show respect to a legend Izzy bowed down to Anderson and we hear Cruz is fighting at a low level? Damn
Yeah I’m glad Aldo schooled him in all areas just to let him know he can’t just keep fighting guys out of there prime like a bully a win../.I hate his style and I can’t wait for any of the top 3 to rag doll him
I respect what he said. Marlon’s defense and overall IQ in there is out of this world and I wouldn’t be surprised if he really did feel like he was dealing with someone a few tiers below him.
Chito got touched quite a bit that whenever he reaches this same stage in life as Dom did, his chin will do the same. I was rooting for Chito, but it sucks to see Dom loose that way, especially if you’ve seen him since the WEC days.
2 года назад+1
Don’t worry, Cruz striking isn’t nearly powerful enough to degrade the chin even a little. Chito also bounced all strikes off his elbows/fists
For people going on about "Low Level" is at 5:08 Chito is talking about the stance of D.Cruz and not disrespecting him in any way. just watch the whole video first!
Dom 10 years ago beats this guy. Same thing with Frankie Edgar. He's lucky they were older, slower and didn't have a strong chin anymore. Yan and Aljo will beat him so he wont be champion anytime soon. Perillo can drill 1 or 2 techniques over and over again to try to give him weapons to win against those guys i.e. left hook & head kick in this fight. (that's what Perillo does for all his fighters "better to have one strong weapon than many weaker ones strategy") But it wont work.
Calling Cruz low-level doesn't say a lot about himself than. Dom was piecing him up & rarely getting hit despite the knockdowns. Disappointed in that statement by Chito.
@@afkaustin not probably, he def lost the first two. Doesn't help he got taken down twice. What hurt Cruz in the third on was his loss of speed - slowed down significantly.
Dom wasnt beating chito handedly at all, 95% of the shots from Dom were blocked while Chito dropped him in most rounds. It was clear as day the fight was getting away from Dom from round 3 onwards.
Chito deserves a #1 contender fight he should fight the winner of O’Malley and yan tbh O’Malley hasn’t done shit in the top 10 he drops the ball when pressure is on
Dom has just been around too long, coaches know where to catch him now. It might look random, but he has his go to reactions and Chito was ready. Dom is still the best Bantamweight ever, but I'm excited to see Chito fight winner of O'Malley and Yan
Everyone saying he was losing… please do not form your opinions from Bisping and Cormier. Dom was more active which is a plus but damage trumps all. If Dom kept that pace and striking and didn’t get knocked down as much sure he’d be winning. Every strike was damaging. But Chito is right unfortunately Doms style is outdated and easy to counter.
It's probably due to the fact his tenure of being at being a high level for so long. Yes he's had many years off due to injuries and has been exposed by the likes of Cody, Cejudo and especially Vera now. But I mean the only other person who was dominant and consider a GOAT of BW in the UFC was Renan Barao and he fell off HARD after TJ destroyed him. TJ can't really be in GOAT contention either due to him getting busted using EPO.

Chitos style isn’t meant to be champion. He won’t ever be champion and he knows that his style of starting slow is bad. He even said that his coaches told him he needs to start winning the early rounds but he just can’t bring it out of himself because that’s his style. Hence why he lost against Aldo. Someone who’s past his prime and still high level, who he couldn’t KO.
I think he lost to Aldo because it’s pretty hard to beat Aldo when he is fresh and explosive. Even Petr Yan had some problems with Aldo, even before Aldo’s boxing improvements.
Chito is willing to sacrifice rounds, even with a style that's not good match up for him, where Dom just keeps moving, relies on volume and outworks you to a decision. If you were to actually slow down the sequences where it LOOKS like Dom is landing, 90% of the time, his punches were parried or just out of range; Chito's lack of damage shown on his face isn't an accident.
Chito looks good man. So patient in the ring. Dropped Dom three times. And set that kick up perfectly. Dom has a bad habit of dipping his head out to the right. Great read.

I was watching the fight and could see from the first round exactly how it was going to go. Dom is a legend and he was landing shots… the problem is that’s not how your going to beat chito he’s made of bricks and is a hunter and when he connects it’s over. You have to take him down and take your chances in the clinch. Staying on the feet will give him time to study you and eventually KO you. He’s my favorite fighter since the song fight that I believe he won. He will be champion and is the most cerebral fighter in the division.
Huhhhh??? Dom is just old and his chin deteriorated. Too slow for his own style for me but don’t say that it’s low IQ. He’s taken the least amount of damage in the ufc…why would u say that chito🙄🙄🙄
Hot take Cruz’s movement is terrible and what made him lose. He literally swayed into the headkick from doing his usual movement to the left or right that at this point is just predictable. There’s a reason why he got dropped so much and that’s it. His footwork is credited so much yet I think it’s his biggest downfall
@@RoyalRoo it was predictable because he's slowed down due to age. It's obvious that a heck kick is open when a fighter sways the way he does, but that's always been the case, his wrestling background and sharp angles have discouraged kicks and have acted like faints in the past. The style isn't the problem, I swear MMA fans have the shortest memory. Sure this style can't work for the larger weight classes, but it definitely is viable for smaller guys.
People saying Dom “pieced chito up for 3 rounds” is hilarious. He has no visible damage at all. Running and throwing punches like Juliana Peña is not high level striking 💀
@@skindred1888 🤦🏿♂️he was winning on the scorecard but make no mistake he was never winning the technical battle he got dropped every single time chito caught him moving laterally with his head dipped and subsequently ko’d. This guy is a hard worker and it shows. Not the biggest fan of the shade he puts on his opponents after beating them but, this is the fight game, being nice isn't a virtue in this sport. Think he should get a title fight or an title eliminator fight. Don't want to see him fight Aldo again, Aldo has his number technically and think we would get the same outcome. Would like to see him fight Yan, Sterling or even O'Malley again.

It's not a bad take, it's not even particulary disrespectful. Dom's self-created style has intentionally abandoned much of the fundamentals because it works specifically for him.
Quite disrespectful but it’s okay chito if your man enough to fight at Cruz’s age you’ll see how it is when a younger in prime fighter finishes you. Be real his style is what made him a legend he’s still fast just his reaction time has slowed down and that’s the only reason he’s been getting caught he’s getting older and chito so will you .
How is it disrespectful. He's right. Other than the faints and weird footwork, Cruz isn't special. He won a lot a decade ago because the sport was still in its youth. Cruz coming up now wouldn't be top 10
I agree with what he's saying, nothing Dom does (outside of his footwork) is insanely technical or advanced, I realized while watching this fight actually that Dom is a master gameplanner... The way he came out ultra aggressive knowing that Chito starts slow, his ability to hide and keep his legs safe, the way he countered the teeps up the middle with takedowns... They aren't amazing displays of technicality or high IQ on the fly adjustments, they're simply answers for what Chito brings When you break down what Dom does on the feet it is very basic, blitzing 1,2s.. follows up with kicks, the strikes aren't thrown with amazing technique or power, he simply does what he needs to do to win
I wasn’t surprised at all with the outcome. After watching the first round I knew Cruz was going to get caught. Jumping around and dipping like that with your hands down is borderline stupid with a killer like Vera in the octagon

Doms style of heavily leaning to the side always left his head wide open. The game just evolved enough for him to not get away with it anymore
Or the fact that he’s 37 may have something to do with it lol
The style relies on speed and cardio. He not as fast as he once was.
Guys. Give chito his credit, he's alot smarter than he looks. Dom is still Dom, chito has an incredible ability to adjust on the fly. He figured out his timing. Dom might be 37 but has way less miles on him than most his age, shit happens in the fight game.
People keep saying his age but I agree with you, it’s the sport that’s aged
Cruz needs to retire.. stop making excuses

The funny part is that Dom even stated he knew that would be Vera's strategy, to absorb his shots and wear him down, yet he played right into it.
Agree, people aren’t talking about how Cruz’s style uses tons of energy

GREAT HEADKICK THO
Dominick out worked him but did shit damage. Started to gas by the third, and in the 4th round he slipped the same way twice, the first time Vera was going to throw a cross but then pulled it. Next time he jabbed head kicked.

Gonna eat humble pie soon when you fight top fighters in prime. Let's see where you'll be at when you reach Dom's age.

If it was very low level then he wouldn’t have become champion twice
Not true. It was ahead of its time when he was champion. But in TODAYS game, it is not nearly as effective as it was. Fighters evolve over time, Dom hasnt.
@@Juk3n he's 37 ..
@@colenicholson9486 Style is style, sure, age plays into it, but 27 year old Dom would have lost this fight too. And 27 year old Dom would get absolutely ran through by, Aljo, Yan, Sandhagen etc.
Common commenting that Dom Cruz is out of his prime. Is bull. This was Cruz best performance. He was mean, attacking, hitting hard. This was Cruz best fight. If he fought this way in his other fights he would've had a deferent outcome.
I’m not saying they’re casuals but at least someone knows what’s up
Oh...oh this dude my new favourite. This my dude right here.
this man is real,,,FAN FROM FINLAND..
Dom wasn’t hitting 90% of those shots clean, and Dom knows that, but Dom’s so fast and high volume that he fooled the judges, the casuals, and the twitter thumbs up until the KO. Chito’s defense is insane.
Was fun teaching my casual friends what "pillow hands" means. Thanks Dom.
Dom’s style was winning him until he got a KO.
Congratulations on the win but put some respect on Dom’s name. I’d still give Dom a chance to be champ than him.
Dom looked like a feisty cat trying to attack chito. Chito was in zero danger ever. Looked like a father playing with his son. Pillow hands vs Bricks
@@stapes7344 up until that KO, I had Dom 3-0
@@Itskfx how explain Cruz didn't land anything and got dropped 4 times
@@Itskfx Like I said. Dom looked like chitos son trying to take on daddy. Chito was just patiently waiting for his child to make a mistake. Dom got dominated
WHo cares. Only thing that matters he got KTFO.
This is a perfect example of what honesty is. Just straight forward, doesn’t try to be nice or mean just says what’s on his mind. People complaining want him to sugar coat how he feels but I prefer people to be real and with no filter.
And im supposed to like this guy over omalley?
I was watching the fight and could see from the first round exactly how it was going to go. Dom is a legend and he was landing shots… the problem is that’s not how your going to beat chito he’s made of bricks and is a hunter and when he connects it’s over. You have to take him down and take your chances in the clinch. Staying on the feet will give him time to study you and eventually KO you. He’s my favorite fighter since the song fight that I believe he won. He will be champion and is the most cerebral fighter in the division.
Jose V. Vera ....
Thoughts?
Great take.
Huhhhh??? A second ago in that face to face sit down with dom you praised his style and even after the fight u said, “I’m a low kicker, but it was very hard to low kick him” and now in the back u do a 360 and call his fighting style “low level” bruh. Dom is just old and his chin deteriorated. Too slow for his own style for me but don’t say that it’s low IQ. He’s taken the least amount of damage in the ufc…why would u say that chito🙄🙄🙄
Hispanics amiright
@@johndelgado8709 ur pressed cuz a Chico railed ur perra😭
Aldo walked Chito
All facts in that press conference stand up dude
Congrats from Mexico...🇲🇽
what he means is Cruz striking is really low level for mma and I completely agree that lateral movement and over dipping got him caught twice now
Hot take Cruz’s movement is terrible and what made him lose.
@@Delaney_don1 When they aren't 40. That's the problem. The style still works extremely well, just not when you're 40.
@@joshuabryant9845 bang on, as i said in my previous comment, slowness from age is what stopped it from working.
People saying Dom “pieced chito up for 3 rounds” is hilarious. He has no visible damage at all. Running and throwing punches like Juliana Peña is not high level striking 💀
“Dominick cruz was winning” but he was also dropped each round up until getting knocked out
Yeah I keep seeing that also. Casuals are the worst.
@@Brandon-tk2rw getting a knockdown doesnt automatically mean you win the round dumbass, by the ufc scoring system cruz was winning that fight
@@Brandon-tk2rw the judges casuals aswell ?
@@Brandon-tk2rw The comments on this one are extra frustrating lol. People can’t just give Chito his credit and move along
@@skindred1888 🤦🏿♂️he was winning on the scorecard but make no mistake he was never winning the technical battle he got dropped every single time chito caught him moving laterally with his head dipped and subsequently ko’d. Dom was just buying time until the rounds were over he was never truly “winning” why do you think he shot for takedown every time the 1 minute bell went off? He knew that ko shot was imminent the less time he spent with chito in front of him the better
You are on the ball Marlon, good to hear and see someone leading by example.
Trashy example.
Chito’s one of my favourite fights but this is a bad take. Cruz is old and damaged. He is a 2 time champ who beat some of the best in his prime.
yeah how u gonna talk shit to a former champ who is clearly out of his prime, took the fight for you because u wanted it and it was a competitive fight at that...
He’ll get it soon
How is it disrespectful. He's right. Other than the faints and weird footwork, Cruz isn't special. He won a lot a decade ago because the sport was still in its youth. Cruz coming up now wouldn't be top 10
Chill out if that fight had gone the distance you would loose

Congrats to Vera, well deserved win and respectful dude. Overall great fight, Cruz and vera showed up fasho.
Chito is full of it.. I want O'Malley to get that rematch and humble him..
As usual Chito acts like a clown after doing one thing right, congrats Shitto
hes pretty disrespectful , win or lose to every one he fights.
They aren't amazing displays of technicality or high IQ on the fly adjustments, they're simply answers for what Chito brings
When you break down what Dom does on the feet it is very basic, blitzing 1,2s.. follows up with kicks, the strikes aren't thrown with amazing technique or power, he simply does what he needs to do to win
It’s the angles he comes out with that separates Cruz from the pack. Nobody else has those, extremely unorthodox. Your analysis I disagree with
Casual af
I wasn’t surprised at all with the outcome. After watching the first round I knew Cruz was going to get caught. Jumping around and dipping like that with your hands down is borderline stupid with a killer like Vera in the octagon
That shirt says it all! Even before he said anything!
Chito has a lot of nerve to say dom fights at low level. He's old and has already been champion lmfao.
