  • While I was out in Virginia, Andrew introduced me to the Commonwealth Coach and Trolley Museum (where he now volunteers). Part of his volunteer work includes driving the many busses at the museum, but before we got to the busses, we decided to take this old tow truck for a drive. This was Andrew's first time behind the wheel of a real truck in quite some time, and considering that it was stuck in high range for the first half of the video, I think he did a fantastic job. There's multiple camera angles here, including inside shots from both the inside and outside of the truck. Hope you enjoy!

Andrew's work with the museum is a great use for his CDL, as well as keeping his skills up.

Old school!! Cool! But ya gotta love when you're moving something old and someone in a little Jeep has to stop right in the middle of the road and stare. :-P I just had to move a 1973 Shasta RV (40+feet) and a Dodge Neon just has to stop in the middle of the road and stare!!! D'oh!! MOVE!!! Anyway, a little Turtle Wax and this baby's ready to do some towin'!!

The way hes grinding it and thunking it its not gonna last its a simple 8 speed andrew lol and the burning smell was fried clutch
Diesels are easy to learn with a standard transmission due to the insane torque it has unless your stuck in high range and dumping the clutch out u almost cant stall em. Tw dumping the clutch on big vehies can snap the drive shaft right off at the u joints saw it happen 2 times at swift driving class

My dad is a commercial truck driver. I won't be able to get a video of him driving though since I rarely see him while he is working and his truck doesn't have two seats. I also don't think his company would appreciate me tagging along.

JoshCraver9000 In a car, it's pretty easy, but in a truck or vehicle with more or 6 gears it could take a while to learn.

He's got all the excuses in the world! The trans is bad, and the engine has oil pressure problems. That trans isn't grinding itself! What is it with these people, and the fact that driving this machinery improperly is okay? They shouldn't be anywhere near a classic truck or bus with a manual transmission!
