One of my favorite things about the Wick franchise is that John has to reload his gun. In every other movie the protagonist just gets unlimited ammo. You can literally count the # of times he fires before needing to reload.

    • @samuelvincent557
      @samuelvincent557 Месяц назад +4

Same here. I, also, love the attention to detail in the fights. In the Red Circle, the man he stabs under the chin and maintains eye contact with as he dies wasn't just him being sadistic or a badass. That man was still alive, and he didn't take his eyes off of him until he was sure he wasn't a threat or going to be able to raise the alarm.
When he was staring at Yosef, he didn't kill him immediately, because he had a man at his feet still alive, and if he moved his gun off of him to shoot Yosef he could interfere or fight back. The fact that he stared Yosef down while doing so was just as much tactical as vengeful. He had Yosef frozen in fear, and if he looked away at all, Yosef could grab for his gun again.

Lots of love stories are violent (see Romeo and Juliet) but this is one of the most loving and most violent. That dog crawling to John with his last energy is the saddest thing I've ever seen. And makes you root for John no matter what he does. John is an agent of order in a world full of violent, greedy criminals. He is respectful and professional, the local police officer respects him. But one chaotic brat sets John off in an entirely new direction. It's interesting watching the differences in how men and women react to this movie. Winston's comment about John getting dragged back in is quite prophetic, and likely it's because Winston knows about Wick's other entanglements.

The fact that this movie is LOOSELY based off an actual event makes me love this movie even more, look up the Marcus Luttrell 911 call. He was a Navy Seal who lost his entire squad in the movie (Lone survivor), after he got out he got a dog named DASY (named after each friend he lost, and some punks killed his dog. He grabs his pistols and goes in a high speed chase

The actor Keanu Reeves is mostly using jujitsu (though he incorporates other martial arts), but later chapters reveal that the character John Wick is descended from the Ruska Roma {Russian gypsies) and uses the Russian martial art of sambo (an abbreviation of "SAMozashchita Bez Oruzhiya" which means "self defense without weapons in Russian) as the core of his hand to hand fighting style. It adds to the characterization and makes the fight choreography more unique.

John like most highly trained close quarter combat specialist prefer to use the Mozambique drill it involves to shots to chest and one to head to minimize the risk of passing an enemy that can shot or injure you as you pass. This is very effective to eliminate a target and move on focused on next targets without dividing your attention or focus on downed targets.

12:43 That's one of the most basic throws in judo, but until someone trains enough to develop enough "fast twitch" muscle fibers in muscle groups that are normally made up predominantly of "slow twitch" fibers and the has developed their skill level enough to make it about balance and momentum rather than just using their largest muscles to help lift a heavy weight, it looks slow and cumbersome. This shows that Keanu Reeves really put in the weeks/months of conditioning to develop the necessary muscles and has practiced enough built muscle memory to become technically proficient.

If it’s not been mentioned before when John was in the club shooting at the glass wall, that can be a tricky shot. Shooting at glass can cause the trajectory of the bullet to change enough to cause a miss. The thicker the glass the more resistance to the shot. Divider walls are usually thicker so for best results you need to shoot twice. But with the target moving John wasn’t able to shoot where the glass was gone.

Thank you ( Spasiba Basho) for your reaction to this action-packed movie. I do have one piece of information for you. In the final scene of the John v Viggo fight, when John stabs Viggo... notice how fast Viggo dies. Would you happen to know why? What happens when he plunges the dagger blade (approximately 6 to 8 inches long) into Viggo's left collar? This side is closest to the Aorta, which is probably not much more than 5 inches in... at that angle of attack. The tip of the blade punctures or severs the Aorta, causing Viggo to bleed internally. The blood then pools on top of Viggo's diaphragm making breathing virtually impossible. Thus Viggo dies of blood loss and suffocation, at virtually, the same time.

I wouldn't classify John Wick as a serial killer. Maybe a contract killer, albeit an exceptionally good one. The loads of people he kills are directly related to a blood feud started by someone else.

The dog was in a kill shelter as they are known in America, the dog he took was set to be put down . So he saved 2 lives at the end both his and the dogs as he now has something to live for once again.

I've always thought the way he took out Iosef was anticlimactic cause it seemed like John had plenty of opportunities. So when he finally did so unceremoniously it just seemed wrong. Like it was a rewrite to lengthen the film.

So happy you two did this ,could i possibly get you to react to a song by my favorite artist, Tom Macdonald, a completely independent artist ,who in 7 years went from recording his first music video by a light plugged in to his neighbors house because he couldn't afford his electric bill to being worth 30 million without a label and receiving 33 number 1 billboard awards and 20 top ten,if this intriguing, check his latest song ,You missed, out and if you enjoyed it welcome to the Hangovergang family thats what his fan base is called, I really hope to see your reaction

Great movie, wasn't it? From the very first moment you sympathize with John, and you're on his side - and you keep cheering for him, even as he brutally massacres dozens of people. And at the end, you just think "Well, that was fair. They deserved that." Brilliant. :D

41:16 The reason why he let himself get stabbed is because there is already a hole in that spot from when John got shot point-blank in the Red Circle Club, that spot is already badly damaged from the gun so a knife isn't going to change it that much plus stomach injuries take awhile to because fatal.

5:34 Bran Flakes are actually great for dog's digestive health. They also help lower blood pressure and cholesterol while increasing their pet's energy levels.
14:30 If I’m not mistaken, governments and The High Table (who controls the criminal underworld) has some sort of agreement. As long as The High Table/Assassins business doesn’t affect civilians, they’re free to operate as they please.
22:51 That’s correct! John didn’t want to kill him in that moment but instead wanted him to know that he was being hunted, strike fear in him.
26:33 Yes. Marcus never intended to kill John which is why he asked if the contract was exclusive. He knew that if the contract was open, he didn’t have to kill John. ANYONE could kill John which would be the perfect opportunity to protect him.
    36:05 Funeral arrangements
43:19 He didn’t. It was a dog shelter and the dog that he took was scheduled to be put down.
Fun fact: Keanu actually trained for 4000 hours for John Wick. Here’s one of the clips of him training.

I do believe that was the first time I ever heard Millie swear!..lol..John Wick is Total Bada$$…and they couldn’t have done better than having Keanu for the role, the series is awesome and Keanu is really well trained in firearms in real life, he even came up with that little “Flick” of the wrist while ejecting a spent magazine from a gun, it blew the directors mind when he saw it, and he loved it!

Now you need to do a reaction to Nobody, a 2021 movie from the same creator as John Wick. It incorporates many of the same ideas, but with different variations and ended up being an even better movie.
Bullet Train (2022) is a great action/comedy I'd recommend with a cast full of famous people.
