- How to protect your plants from sun burn and prevent this from happening in the future.
I had some trouble locating the Surround WP without paying a huge amount for shipping and finally found it at WILCO Feed in my local small town for under $50 for a 50pound bag.

Helpful information, thanks!

The sun is brutal , thanks for sharing YAH bless !
I'm fearing this year is going to be a bust...but fingers crossed!
Thanks for this -- really useful info in these increasingly brutal summers. We really are having to adapt to a new climate these days.
Glad it was helpful!
In truth we should be considering mid day shade portable canopies
I'd like to see that in action. Where I am, just having shade mid-day would mean putting something up and taking down/moving which can be time intensive. Also my gardens are spread out all over the yard, I'd have to have 30 of these portable canopies...and what about trees? Love to see it in action on a medium scale....
@@OldSchoolPrepper I've been thinking on a system of fixed awning that can be moved. This is going to be an increasing issue. Ones that shield huge rain would be good.
Trees are beyond my capacity!
I need to do this. Got several with leaves that look like that.
Yep, I'm having the same issue with my bush beans. I just surrounded them with garden stakes with some of the cheap weed control cloth attached to shade them from the sun. Just hope no issues with wind to blow it all away.
that sounds like a great idea.. let me know how it goes
Oh yes. Half of my garden is burnt. It has definitely been a difficult growing season this year.
Have you tried clay yet?
I'm dealing with some now.
I think everyone is! for sure it's been super hot this year...you all are in heat too right?
@@OldSchoolPrepper 100 today & tomorrow. 98 / 99 for the following five days
Surprisingly, in TX, it has only been in the lower to med 90s which is practically freezing this time of year but we were looking at various plants with burned leaves. Even leaves under huge trees and vines growing on trunks. Makes no sense.
do you think the UV/UVB is worse in your area? they do wax and wane....bad news for the trees and your skin.
@@OldSchoolPrepper no clue
Calcium
can you extrapolate on your statement?
@@OldSchoolPrepper ha... I would add calcium to your soil around the base of the plants. That might (probably) stop all of that in it's tracks. I just sprinkle a little around the bases and water. Probably see a difference inside of 48-72 hours with prepared calcium fertilizer... Maybe longer if you go with eggshells. Some people use human calcium supplement pills and break the capsules or grind the pill and use that...
