Lyrics:
Sometimes I feel like I don't know
Sometimes I feel like checking out.
I wanna get it wrong
Can't always be strong
And love, it won't be long.
Oh, sugar, don't you cry.
Oh, child, wipe the tears from your eyes.
You know I need you to be strong
And the day it is dark, as the night is long.
Feel like trash, you make me feel clean.
I'm in the black, can't see or be seen.
Baby, baby, baby, light my way.
Alright now, baby, baby, baby, light my way.
You bury your treasure where it can't be found
But your love is a secret that's been passed around.
There is a silence that comes to a house
Where no-one can sleep.
I guess it's the price of love; I know it's not cheap.
Oh, come on, baby, baby, baby, light my way.
Oh, come on, baby, baby, baby, light my way
Baby, baby, baby, light my way.
I remember when we could sleep on stones.
Now we lie together in whispers and moans.
When I was all messed up and I heard opera in my head
Your love was a light bulb hanging over my bed.
Baby, baby, baby, light my way.
Oh, come on, baby, baby, baby, light my way. Видеоклипы
I just bought a 93 camry and a cassette of Achtung Baby was still in the stereo. This is easily the best song on the album.
I named my daughter Alayna Violet after this song. it is still my #1 favorite song of U2's ever....so many memories with it. Last week, at almost 5 years old, I had her listen to the song on AB, she had quite a smile on her face....i think it was pride....she's already a U2 fan. Hearing her sing "Ultraviolet liiiiiight!" is priceless!!!
It's such a happy good vibe song no wonder she had a smile on her face lol. It's refreshing to hear you're getting her into some real music before she starts listening to niki Minaj and the likes :(
Cool awesome song
+Patrick Freeland Beautiful name for your little girl!! :))
+Maggie Reilley thank you!
💟😘
I lost my mother around the time Achtung Baby was released and the line in this song “There is a silence that comes to the house where no one can sleep” could not have been more true, as our home was no longer filled with the sound of her voice and laughter...only memories. This song helped me through one of the toughest times of my life and I can’t thank you enough. A true classic,
Stay strong. Regards from Brazil. ❤️🙏
I'm pretty sure that Bono refers to his mother when he sings "When I was all messed up, and I had opera in my head (reference to his father) / Your love was a lightbulb hanging over my bed"
Bless your family.
I fee exactly the same when I lost my daddy. I can’t thank enough
Toughest times ..? What do you mean for ?
This song is absolutely fantastic.
Ultraviolet is probably one of the most underated U2 songs ever !!
This has got to be the most hair standing on end performance U2 have ever done! They must have sat back, looked at this and thought "f@#k that was good!" The lightning and stage crew need medals.
Ridiculously good ! I must have watched this a hundred times and it’s still 🔥
Bono's vocal here is ridiculously good!
If you mean ridiculously...I agree!
He is a shadow of his former self
we all get old... @@hosoiarchives4858
@@hosoiarchives4858 I mean, he's got older. That's how life works unfortunately.
He sings this better here than he ever did in the 90s.
I just appreciate what we can still get
This version kick ass.
The clarity and tone of his voice for a live performance is quite extraordinary.
Achtung Baby best album ever! ❤️ U2 forever
You can't be more right!!! 👏 👏 👏
certainly their best
U2 Achtung Baby and David Gray's White Ladder albums were both the only two albums of perfection that I can think of.
100% ❤❤
Their last GREAT album
This song never gets old
Absolutely timeless.
And never will
It's unbelievable how The Edge has the most powerful riffs but the most gentle and clear voice. I think we can consider him the Sound Maker of U2, as long as Bono is the Soul Maker. Without Larry and Adam, however, they would never have been playing for so many years. Fantastic Band.
I mean, how on earth do people write stuff like this. It's absolutely ridiculous how well these lyrics flow.
When covid-19 is done I’m going to see U2, no matter where they perform.
Buy two tickets please because I'm going to 😂
Daniel V deal! 🤣
Make it 3
Make it 4😂😂😂😂
Me too that’s five please! 😂
Words cannot describe what this song means to me!
I think it's the best song U2 ever done!
And I have loads of favorite songs by U2 🤷🏻♂️
This band just amazes me
it´s really hard to choose a favorite song among the many great song this band wrote. But I tend to agree with you.
I swear the Edge's guitar tone on this song is out of this world
Baby Baby Baby... ♥️🇧🇷
Comme dans beaucoup de morceaux quand the edge est a l"'oeuvre 'c"est magnifique !!
When Bono shouts out "Ultraviolet" it gives off a shock wave of sound and emotion. Awesome version...
Toute la jeunesse et l'insouciance de nos 20 ans, j'ai la chance de connaitre et de savourer leurs musiques !! AB est l'album le plus abouti !!

Mark Dorchester Sooooooo True! :)
The Joshua Tree is better than Achtung Baby
I have to go old school...best Album...U2 War
I thought Zooropa was their worst. I must agree, Achtung Baby is the best in my opinion, as well.
The Edge's guitar riffs make this song as powerful and unique as it is. Memories.

I think the best thing about u2 is they just lift album songs to another level live!!
One of my most favorite songs..........it's just so epic. The feeling the band captured on this track is just masterful.
Essa música é uma das minhas preferidas!!
EPIC it is !
I love u2....because sori...lula bono not 😢
Joshua tree & Achtung baby are one of the best albums in rock history
yes
@Eduardo Smit YES, very overlooked album. It's solid all the way through.
Don't you mean two???
sulzer73 totally agree.., and what’s amazing is that both albums are polar opposites of each other and are GREAT! how many bands have made a great record then completely reinvented themselves and put out another great record!?! Only U2
@Eduardo Smit Bono actually thinks the album is weak but not the individual songs.
They are the most unique rock band with the best lyrical content. Plus the edges approach to guitar in a rock band was completely different making them even more unique. Best band there ever was is and will be.
100% TRUTH!!!!!!
Melhor banda do mundo!!
Imagine having that much God given talent, finding it early, and the world finds you…hard to believe it gets much better for a mortal….brilliant
One of the best songs written ❤
Just to share and educate the listeners, Ultra Violet was Bono's song written as a homage to his dad. The lyric "Baby, baby, baby, light my way" and "opera in my head" is referring to Bono hearing his dad singing opera in the home as this was his dad's profession. Also, Bono (whose real name is Paul Hewson), didn't have a good relationship with his dad, but was inspired by his father's profession as he was growing up. Thus there was turmoil in the household during Bono's formative years, but he did love his father very much. In the later years after his dad passed away from cancer, Bono reflected back and missed him. His song is for his dad, actually.
Woow, didn't know that! And here I was thinking "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own", was expressly for him, as he stated since Vertigo Tour. I always cry with 'Sometimes', even my dad is still alive, but some of us relate to that kind of relationship at some point.
Whaaat where did you hear this ?? The only song Bono
Wotofo about his dad was Kite around the time his father was dying !
@@michaelmarchei8539 I have one of the biography books written about U2 & BONO and in the book he explained about his dad and about ULTRA VIOLET that he wrote.
This is a complete lie. Educate listeners 😂😂😂.
I will never ever ever get tired of watching this 🇮🇪
same hahah
People can criticise U2 but their durability and worldwide acclaim speak for themselves. Their music connects with people in their souls..........and you feel you've travelled years of your life with them.
How true and well said Nick 👍cheers wherever you may be, 🇦🇺mick

Don't worry about those p*ssies who are tone deaf... U2 STOPS THE TRAFFIC!!! Best band ever... PERIOD.
The best, this song helped me through the worst days of my life .I lost my wife as this song came out helped me get through my dark times.
Me 2 bro. Right on.
I also lost my wife. We attended a U2 concert in 1987 and their last song was Light my Way. I remember how we were both in awe of U2 and this song and felt those goosebumps. It made my hair on the back of my neck stand on end. I would give anything to feel those feelings again. U2 was the best band ever. My condolences for your loss.
Bono's Voice is just awesome in this present Version !

+Caius I feel it is the best album from U2!
+Caius Yes, it was such a huge creative leap in 1991. When I first heard Zoo Station, I was blown away by the transformation. Definitely one of the best albums of the 90's!!

The Edge’s voice has an amazing tone to it. So underrated.
This song is great, but this video is on another level. They've truly mastered the stadium act.

I don’t know where I’ve been for 66 years but it sure wasn’t appreciating Edge’s masterful playing and Bono’s writing. But I’m enjoying going through all the music I’ve missed these days.
Enjoy 😊
You are in for a real ride. I’ve been on it for 35 years and still obsessed with the greatness.
Put it to rest, we all know it now- this is the best U2 song.
This performance of Ultra Violet made me finally see the greatness of this song. Over the last 25 years, I have always "kind of liked" this song. This specific performance somehow deconstructs the song just enough to allow the listener to really understand the arrangement and to hear the melodic change-ups better than the album version ever did. The Edge's guitar playing and, more important, background vocals ring through more clearly with this mix and prove they're the engine behind the song; both seemed under-mixed on the album version. Because of this performance, Ultra Violet is now one of my favorite U2 songs. I wish I could get this concert on CD....
i would add the bass and drums too, all together makes for a perfect version of this song.
This song is one of my favourites from Acthon Baby .. great lyrics and catchy guitar riff .. great album ..loads of gems in there
thats awesome. Bonos voice was a bit under the weather for this particular night unfortunately because this was the show they decided to release way ahead of time and also live stream on youtube. It didnt do justice to what his voice can do.
I think that is trademark U2, experiencing the songs differently from the album when they are played live. But I especially have that with songs from AB, like this Ultra Violet for example: so much deeper than the album version. I've had the same with Mysterious Ways, One, Until the End of the World (all three have a different vibe and extended solos live) but especially Love is Blindness from the Sydney live show... that was pure magic. In the same context I also really loved the live versions of Gone, Last Night on Earth, Dirty Day, and Please; they reinvented these under-appreciated songs and me likey. Somewhere halfway through the 360 tour they replaced Ultra Violet by Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me, and that also sounded so f*cking awesome. And getting this show on CD isn't really that difficult. If you have the DVD you just convert the audio file to flac or wave files and burn them to a disc.
The arrangement was always there ! I feel Enos production actually takes it to another level ! This is the best live version by a Country Mile but the album version is magical....
My fav U2 song forever.

This is possibly their best song ever the way it was played at 360. Was an ungrinded diamond for 18 years but finally they discovered it. It is so complete; powerful and melodic at the same time.
But the best version is no doubt Sheffield Aug 20, 2009!
Any link for that performance?
Johan Sandberg a diamond indeed!
Johan Sandberg zoo tour was better
I was a late admirer to Achtung Baby, but this live performance from the 360 tour sold me on this song from this album... mesmerizing
For their ups and downs (in terms of selling albums/CDs/digital, which is, unfortunately, how the industry rates band), U2 has always been an amazing live band. Was lucky to see the ZooTV tour, when Achtung Baby was the new album. For a stadium show, they made it feel intimate. Love the 360tour DVD!
U2s Best Song
No
this song somehow embodies the 90s and all my life experiences during that time
at Montreal when they did Ultraviolet i was floating somewhere in the sky.... great unforgeteable moment
One of the best U2 songs ever!!!!
This song helped me rise from a pretty dark time in my life. My wife was the light bulb hanging over my head. That light/love I could count on.

This is the absolute best version of Ultraviolet (Light My Way) in terms of both presentation and performance. Arguably the best song on Achtung Baby. From Larry's matter-of-fact demeanor, to Adam's devilish smirk and great smile, to The Edge's ever-present technical mastery of the guitar, to Bono's command and control of the way he has to use his voice to sing now, these Lads never-ever cease to amaze.
one of the Best songs by U2, great synchronization of intrumentals and vocals.
my number 1 of all U2's greats...and this version is the best.
45 and .... After much consideration, how could you rank your favorite U2 songs it's impossible... The whole achtung record is desert island for moi. But this song and wild horses always stood out. Thank you Bono you.got me through so many anxious times, something about this songs soothes me so much, its so beautiful it hurts. A man of such dignity and humanity!! I saw the popmart tour in 97 still remember every second, check the videos from Kyiv. 🖤
One of my favs and this live version captures the Flood / Eno recording spirit !
I hope i get to see U2 play this song Live in my life someday 🎉
Thirty five years of songs and still at the top. Ultra Violet this time, Every Breaking Wave on the last Tour ... Always pure moments dancing with Angels. Thx Boys !
One of their best songs in my opinion. I rank it right after Where the Streets Have No Name, With or Without You & Pride

When this came out I was 20 years old, and the lyrics were difficult for me to understand,. They sounded bitter and peculiar. Today I have passed 50 years and the lyrics goes straight into me, like a dagger. Now I've lived for a while, and know EXACTLY what it's talking about.

U2 are without the best live band ever . I saw them in Cork Ireland when I lived there. Took me to another world. If you get the chance go and see them. Memories that'll last a lifetime...
@Al Catraz, agreed. I saw them in Cardiff in 2005 and still rate it the best live show ever (and I’ve seen the stones, The Who and some other greats).
This is the moment where U2 perfected this song. I've heard the progression of the live versions throughout the years. And since Achtung Baby, this song has evolved to it's most perfect state. From the subtle guitars riffs to the alternate lyrics and melodies....but nothings says ultra violet ray like ultra violet eh ah oh oh....ultra violet eh eh!
Also noticing a variation in the rhythm section.....much more emotion there as well
One of their best songs.
U2 = THE BIGGER BAND FOR ALL TIMES (for me) [they play and perform lke in studio or radio song, amazing !!!]
I was there that day in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl. All I can say Wow what an awesome experience!💫 That was my daughter's first ever concert too, nothing but the best band will do, Viva U2!🙌✌
This is one of my favorite songs, there’s a lot of meaning in it. A proper community is one that lifts others when they are down, inspires them to do better, maybe express their heart to give salt to a harsh world. And then in time they will provide inspiration to the ones that provided them, but now are drained, like the convections of a boiling pot. We burst through only for a moment, to fall down and over and over the eternal motions continue. All I know in this world no one does it alone concepts of god, and our fellow man’s nurture help us all through.
Brilliant version of a brilliant song!
I feel like trash….you make me feel clean…..perfect
Mindblowing appearance full of passion and deep feelings that brings you teardrops of joy and emotion...Bono is the Zeus of singing and songwriting.

Easily U2’s most underrated song. It’s evolution from ZooTV to 360 is nothing short of amazing.
In my mind is the thing: "Never have kids". Then I realized I knew the love of my life and she want kids... So, if that happens and is a girl obviously that little baby gets called "Vayolet", is like sound in spanish Ultraviolet. This song is so powerful and so strong. I'm peruvian and never went a U2 concert for economic reasons but the things were improving and that make me happy. U2 always was in the most difficult moments in my life, so the name worth all off.
