Giant spider crab or Macrocheira kaempferi lives in the oceans around Japan. The animal is known for its huge leg span. The big boys among them is about 18 ft from claw.
Spider crabs have a tough shell. The hard shell protect it from predators. The shell is made of dead cells. So, it does not grow. That's why the crabs need to shed it from time to time to accommodate its growing body.
