- This is a brief video showing how I eventually sourced and replaced the internal pop shield foam in my Beyerdynamic M88-TG microphone. Part number 936122 is what's required, you cannot get it directly from Beyerdynamic and it is not listed as a part on their official website, you can only to order it through a Beyerdynamic music dealer. Oh, and don't mistakenly order the PS 88 pop shield either! That's an external popshield foam, not the one that goes inside the top basket that perishes over time.
After replacing the internal pop shield, I used the same M88-TG to record the audio for this video. Phew - it worked!
Hi . Thanks for the video, did you happen to make a template or still have the plastic bag it came in for a measurement reference. I think any quality foam can work . Thanks
I don’t have the bag I’m afraid. I guess that you may be able to make a template by estimating the scale? The part isn’t very expensive really if you want to get an original replacement. With hindsight, I suspect the foam may have been glued to the ring of the microphone before placing the cage over the top? If you do it this way with foam you’ve cut yourself, I guess you could trim the arms of the foam star to fit perfectly? Good luck!
@@raygodwin68 hey . Thanks . I’ll do my best . I have the older m88n (c) ..I’m the type of guy who vacuums up screw too. ! , it Can’t be rocket science . But at least you showed the pattern ! Thanks!
Any luck with foam for the lower grill? I need to replace that. Thanks.
Let me see if i can source it for you...
@@raygodwin68 thank you 🙏
Vacuum cleaning the white mesh on top of the diapragm is dangerous! The diaphragm is fragile on the M88: without outer protection foam, even a base drum can break ist.
