I was pleasantly surprised to discover this fragrance. It reminds me of Chanel's now discontinued masterpiece Coromandel EDT.

I wear this perfume for two years now. I can’t stop thinking of it, like I can’t get enough of it. So rich and smooth at the same time. I can’t believe that it is not that popular. Thank you for your review. I love it!

Thank you James, I am glad i add value to your time mate :). I would honestly suggest that you get a sample of Shanghai tang and then decide if you want to sell the Coromandel. Hopefully you will like Shanghai tang more as it is slightly more interesting. have a great weekend :).
I would definitely open your Chanel Coromandel and enjoy it. It is a beautiful fragrance, that I find to be far superior then the Shanghai Tang ,Oriental Pearl which smells like synthetic vanilla, that gives me a head ache and lacks depth and lays flat on the skin, never unfolding in Top, Middle and Base notes. I returned my bottle and was horribly disappointed with this perfume.
I just received my 2nd hand Shanghai Tang “Oriental Pearl.” I also have Coromandel and now I have an itch to layer them. OP is very Patchouli forward (which I wished Coromandel had a bit more of.) My OP may have some age and I wonder if it’s amplified the patch. How is your bottle for this note?

Hi AC, great review as always, but it should be Oriental Pearl by Shanghai Tang. Shanghai Tang is the name of the brand/company and Oriental Pearl is the name of the scent.
Thanks Jakub, I obviously made a serious blunder LOLZ but I assure you I haven't got the scent wrong. By the way, who would want to name their fragrance company Shanghai Tang, don't you think Oriental Pearl is a better name for a Company that makes fragrances :).
@@ACSmellsGood O yes, Shanghai Tang sounds great for a scent name, and Oriental Pearls for the brand ;-) As my journey started from Carlos Benaim's masterpiece creation - Polo Classic, I have started from collecting RL scents, and later other Carlos Benaim's creations (when I understood that the brand is not as important, as the perfumer behind it). For this reason Shanghai Tang is on my radar for long time (he created all 8 scents from Silk Road collection). It is really hard to get them, only Notino has some in Poland, but regular prices are quite high. I've bought the Jade Dragon for a very reasonable price few years ago and I was still hunting for the other 2 from man's line. But it looks that now I have to expand my searching also for woman's 5 ;-) btw, man's line has also gorgeous bottles :-)

Did not realize Benaim was behind the Polo Classic and you are absolutely right, the perfumer is everything, brand comes second, specially in todays age when the brands put profit margins first and hence the perfumers are given a slice of the proposed budget for creation of a fragrance.
@@ACSmellsGood If you are asking about Shanghai Tang, than I've tried and have only Jade Dragon, this is not a groundbreaking scent, quite simple but very nice IMO. I found that it works perfectly in hot and humid environment, so I'm using it as my tropical signature scent. If you are asking about other Carlos Benaim's creations, than Polo and ICON are my top 2. I like also Dunhill Century, but I haven't own a bottle yet, so I didn't test it properly. I like Quorum but it can be too harsh for most of other people today. I've started to like Polo Supreme Cashmere after some time, I had a sample before and I didn't like it, but when I bought a bottle I found it quite interesting and it is still growing, I will try it more in springtime. I like Polo Blue, especially EDP, Polo Sport vintage. Other two scents from RL Supreme line are very good but not mind blowing (oud is made by Carlos). I heard that original Herrera for man is very good tobacco scent, but I have current version and it is a bit disappointing and I haven't try the vintage one. The CK scents by Carlos except of Eternity and Euphoria weren't very good ones (or maybe I haven't try them enough, as I hadn't own most of them). I still haven't try many of the others, as they are hard to find (like Herrera Aqua, Halston Man or Armani White) or very expensive like those made for niche brands like Diana Vreeland or Frederic Malle or for exclusive lines by RL and YSL. Very interesting bottle design. The house (from a fashion perspective) always seem a bit kitschy to me but its good to know they have an interesting perfume.
Yeah, I can see where you are coming from but this fragrance is a fragrance I can vouch for, both from a scent and quality perspective.

Never did tried the EDT version, only the powerful EDP new concentration of Coromandel. Great suggestion, thank you, I did not knew this brand. Have you tried Chyprissime by Mugler ? Reminds me somewhat of Coromandel as well...Cheers

Bobby, you got me thinking as well :) here are some equally good if not better patchoulis ; Dior Patchouli Imperial, Sammarco Bond T, Oriental Pearl, and Guerlain heritage vintage ( the best IMHO).
