Enjoying this series. Thanks for sharing. Dave
Great looking building. Can't wait to see the final installment for this project.
Very cool. Nice job
So that is how you bevel edges evenly! One of those DUH moments! Thanks Ron. Keep up the good work.
Glad I could help. 👍🏻
That turned out great, looks awesome on the layout. Cannot wait to see the next video on this. Thanks for sharing. Ken
Thanks, Ken. Part 3 should be out in 2 weeks.
Thank you for sharing this build and all things model Railroading videos on such a great layout
Thank you.
Looks great Ron! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the details inside.
Yes, I'm excited about that part.
Excellent tips and advise. Thanks Ron! The building is outstanding!
Thanks. 👍🏻
great looking build Ron, older structures like this gives me a fine appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into the design and construction of buildings from an earlier era. A lot more visually interesting than structures built today. Your techniques look fantastic and I will be excited to see the model completed, Cheers Rob
Hey Ron,
Enjoy watching the video of this scratchbuilding project. It gives me some confidence to try on myself. I model HO scale and do mostly southen railroads: Central of Georgia, Southern, ACL, Seaboard, and Gulf Mobile and Ohio roads. Thanks for the tip on canopy gun. I had trouble with CA glue doing just what mentioned in the video.
Hi, Nate. Yes, the canopy glue is fantastic for a number of things, including window glazing.
That is a good looking little building nice to see how you can really change the look of something with out doing major construction just adding small but important detail.
Hi Trenton. Yes, just a few added parts and/or details can really change the look of a sturcture kit and make it look unique.
Looks great Ron, looking foward to see it all come together....thanks for sharing....Jack
Thanks, Jack, and thanks for watching.
Thank You! Incredible sight.
Excellent how-to video as always! Nice to see you back-in-action!
Thanks.
Nice job! Kit bashing is one of my favorite things to do.
Yes, it is a favorite of mine too.
Looking good Ron, can't wait to see video #3
Thanks for watching, Charles.
Looking good, Ron! Real nice to see videos from you again, too! Roy
Hi, Roy. Thanks.
Wow...excellent job, Ron.
Thanks.
Looks great Ron very nice job
Thank you.
Sweet!
Very nice Ron
Thanks Marcel.
Nice build there. Like the process for brick mortar. Still haven’t found a way I like to do it in HO scale. I did the kitbash and made a fire station.
That's cool. Do you have photos posted somewhere?
Question: Do you have or can you create a video that lists all the tools you use? That would be extremely helpful. Great information here and on several other vids have been watching and saving. Thanks.
Looks good.
Always good to see another RTNT video, thanks for the inspiration guy
Thanks for watching.
@@RonsTrainsNThings all good Ron, if you ever have the chance to provide feedback on videos I would appreciate the effort (A new train room with my son: - I have poor filming skills, a cheap ZTE phone, free editing software while discovering the hobby; could it be worse? Your videos have always inspired me mate, thanks as always, Regan, BMS.
You sir are a true master.
Wow. Thanks for that kind word.
@@RonsTrainsNThings absolutely no problem. Got to give credit where it is due. I hope to someday be there. I basically just started this journey with my son Ben. I love that we share a bond in trains and that were very excited about starting.
Nice, by the way if you sand the corners slightly over angle you will not have outside gaps. 45.5 or 46 will make the outside corner tight. Use the internal bracing and it will be a sold gap free corner. Tell next week. Thanks
That is a good tip. I just wasn't aggressive enough this time around.
Nice video and à Nice building
Thanks.
Sweet! 😎
lt's looking sharp Ron! You see a lot of that style of building with carport in quite a few small Texas towns.
Hi, Yes, I lived in North Texas for 6 years and remember seeing several businesses similar to this style, especially in smaller towns. Are you a Texas resident?
Oh yeah....born and raised on the high plains of Texas. From what l understand, a lot of that type of building were built as car dealerships back then. They sold the cars plus all the services after sale including oil and gas. Under the "carport" was where the gas pumps were located.
good tutorial.
Thank you.
Do you think there is a difference between the MEK you buy in a pint jar under a brand name in a hobby store vs the MEK you can buy in a quart can in a hardware store?
I’d really benefit from a video on how to modify (cut) a preassembled structure and make it a semi-background structure. Thanks.
Now...that’s a good looking little building. I would have liked seeing a close up of the finished brick walls with their mortar lines. Maybe next time. Bye for now.
I will definitely show some close ups in the next video when the weathering is done.
How much time did it take you to make the building?
The basic structure is a kit, so it only took an hour or so to assemble. The "car port" was scratch built, so I spent around 4 hours on it (ish...it was 2 years ago so hard to remember exactly). Painting, weathering and details probably another couple.hours spread.outbover a few evenings.
I am from Bowie county. TX
Cool!
Did I miss what “MEK” glue is?
MEK is methyl ethyl ketone, a solvent that makes a great cement for styrene. You can get it by the quart at .most hardware stores.
Nice shirt!!
Thanks. This is probably my favorite AML shirt, but it sure is bright on camera.
I just discovered your channel about 2 weeks ago. I find it a bit odd that with all the help you have with production etc. You don't have your projects grouped into playlists. I start watching a project and then it skips to another and another etc. I like the channel but I get tired of clicking all over trying to find the next in the series.
I think you will find most of my projects are in dedicated playlists. This particular project I realized now did not get one, partially because I got carried off by another project and have not finished it.
