I’m glad you showed us both of those rulers. See you on the next one and thank you.
You are so welcome!
Just got my block lock and did not realize I should turn it and then pull it down to do the second trim. Thank you for showing me that awesome possum.
I'm happy to demo it for you.
That’s a really helpful demo! I’ve always wondered what was faster. I have both. I have only used the Bloc-Loc which I love, but want to give the Clearly Trimmer a try. I get confused on how to position the Bloc-Loc if I haven’t used it in a while. I do a few to “warm” up and repeat to myself “logo up, seam down” for the first cut. Seems to help. The Clearly Trimmer is appealing since it’s positioned and there’s no turning, just trimming. As you said, it will come down to personal preference. Also, you do a great job with your videos. People shouldn’t be nitpicking on them. Please keep them coming! 🙂
Thank you so much for your kindness. Yep I had to warm up too for those first couple and I decided to leave that part in for the realness of it all.
All good! Thanks for the demo.
Thank you
Thanks for the demo! I've only used Bloc-Loc. Now I need to try the other one. I must admit, you are the BEST enabler, Lol. Question, if you could only go to one quilt show, which one would you choose? I'm curious to know which one you liked the most out of the ones you have attended.
Houston, Paducah, Quiltcon But remember there are so many others that I have not gone too yet.
Having a set of block loc for the finished size is the real way to go!
I think you might be right
I liked that you did a comparison. I'm leaning towards the bloc lock as the part that makes me nervous about the other one is those grooves to trim the dog ears. I'm left handed . When I cut an L I cut too far and so usually have a nick in my fabric. Do you know what I mean?
Black loc is my preference
I’m less worried about time length, and more worried about a neatly finished square. Sadly my 1/2 sq triangles tend to be sloppy. I have the Bloc loc and still struggle.
Well keep at it. I think the block loc is best for accuracy since it's pressed first.
Love this! I've been using bloc loc for years too but my clearly perfects arrived just 2 days ago and now I don't have to time it!!! Only diff is if you are pressing open you have to press twice with bloc loc
Awww I didn't think about that. Pressing open takes a lot of time.
@MACoutureCrafting I know, right! I've been "againt" pressing open but I tried it on a recent project and it DID turn out cleaner overall. Still not loving matching pressed open seams as much as nested. I guess there's occasions for either way- never a 100% answer on pressing!
Good comparison. Personal preference😊
Right on!
Ok now I realize that the Bloc-loc is almost like a rotating mat, but it looks much easier to just sort of flip the whole thing with the bloc-loc. I don’t know what size the squares are supposed to finish at and which ruler is more accurate.
I think the best one for accuracy is the bloc loc because pressing can distort the fabric and you still have to press after the Slotted trimmer? Maybe?
I love the bloc loc.
Me too.
Which do you think produces a more accurate HST? I'm a newbie and am struggling with accuracy. 😊
I think the bloc loc because it happens after pressing.
That was a fun experiment.
I had fun trying it.
That really was helpful!!!!
I'm glad.
I have the clearly slotted trimmer. It took some getting used to with all the lines. I like that can trim without moving the trimmer around. But, I have run into challenges when pressing the HST open and distorting the size.
I can see that happening. Thanks for sharing
I use the first one I pull out of my ruler drawer even though I like block lock a bit better because I'm less likely to produce a crooked cut with that one.
I knew people were going to have their preferences.
I love the comparison! I always wonder which way is faster with a lot of the various tools. So it was really fun to watch. I own a bunch of Bloc Locs and don’t actually have the slotted trimmer. It looks like a nice tool as well!
I love my bloc locs thanks for watching
I enjoy watching and listening to you while I sew or longarm! It’s like having a friend chatting with you while you are stitching. And encouraging me to buy things I really shouldn’t! But I love it! If I end up making an iron case like the one Tula showed, I’ll make 2 and send you one! @@MACoutureCrafting
Thanks for the demo as I’m not familiar with either.
You are more than welcome
I don’t have either ruler since I have yet to tackle HSTs, relative newbie here. Darn, I was hoping there would be a clear winner!
Lol. If I were just starting out and I wasn't pressing seams open I'd start with the bloc loc.
Half square triangles are amazing
@@MACoutureCrafting Thank you for the recommendation.
what is that little ironing board???
There is a video showing you where to grab it. You have to scroll my channel in the notions section. They are 20 dollars. I can't remember just yet.
I prefer the slotted trimmer. 😊
Fair enough! I get it. I'm so happy to have people who have their preferences.
Wait but is one significantly cheaper than the other? I just bought this bloc lock but it was mind boggling how expensive it was! If the other one is cheaper I may return it
I forgot to mention that they are about the same
There is sound but no video for me!
I hope I fixed that
For me the Slotted Trimmer is faster, only 2 cuts and trim the dog ears. Bloc Loc takes 4 cuts.
I could see that
I have both, too.I have been using the clearly trimmer for my current quilt. 365 hst. I like this one better as long as you line it up right. I think the rotation with the bloc loc was not up my alley.
I completely understand
There is not
any picture/video, just sound!
thanks for watching out for me
The difference is how good you press. If you use the slotted trimmer then stretch the block on the bias ironing it’s no longer the right size. Ask me how I know this and the problems it causes…SMH
Lol Yep been there. The bloc loc will get you to your final block clean. I knew this would cause a debate.
That cuttingmat makes it difficult to see your rulers.
I probably should have zoomed in a bit
