We towed our small sailboat from Washington State to San Carlos last fall and spent the winter living on our little boat - smack dab in the middle of that marina. It was our first time in San Carlos and we absolutely loved it. Sailing out from the marina onto the Sea of Cortez in brilliant sunshine and consistent wind was a sailor's dream. Hi, David! Another brilliant video, one more of your absolute best, and amazing drone work! What a stunning place with absolute jaw-dropping beauty that's almost like being in a dream! San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico, is a captivating coastal retreat renowned for its splendid beaches, crystalline waters, and abundant marine life along the Sea of Cortez. Nestled within the rugged landscapes of the Baja California Peninsula, it entices visitors with a blend of water sports, including snorkeling, scuba diving, and fishing, as well as opportunities to explore the surrounding natural reserves and enjoy a relaxed community atmosphere. Thanks, David Ostrowski!
The painting of that actress that you saw and you said that reminded you of Elizabeth Taylor , is really a mexican actress of the same era as Elizabeth called Maria Felix and she was born in Alamos Sonora in 1914. A lot of people think that only the caribbean waters of Cancun and Tulum are cool but thats is completely bollocks!
Beautiful landscape by the sea is my idea of a vacation. San Carlos seems a very relaxing place. I'm sure that many boat owners are from the Arizona and California area, using San Carlos as their getaway spot.
Indeed, there are a lot of snow birds from Utha and Colorado too. Even from Canada and Alaska. But most part of them are from Arizona and Cali. When the summer comes most of them leave. But some Arizona gringos use to really hot weater stay as some times in summer reaches above 100 F... But they can handle it pretty well. Best time of the year to visit from ending September to November for sure.... nice weater and warm water. It's great in winter and spring for outdoor activities, but can't swim during those days. Do not come in summer at least you want to live the desert experience!
@@janjosephdauphiniii7457 Thanks for your comment. San Carlos looks like a place that I would enjoy even in the summer. But I also live in the dry heat in the California Mojave Desert, where it can get to about 115F degrees. I never knew about San Carlos until this video.
You did exactly what I would have wanted to do as a visitor to San Carlos. It’s more fun to go where you want and do what you want, with no tours or time schedules (or crowds). (Or water parks, ugh!) Beautiful turquoise water and amazing landscapes! Very much enjoyed the drone shots. Since you asked, it’s pronounced TOO-sahn, Arizona. 😄 Loved the close-ups of the gorgeous flowers. As always, your humor was fantastic! One of my favorite videos of yours! Excellent work, David! 😄💕
Thanks hun it's one of my personal favorites too! I used to few new editing techniques I was trying out. I did the flower close ups just for you you know! Thanks for the Tucson pronunciation, you know when you say a word and realise you've never had a reason to say it. Now I'm thinking about it, I have a vague memory of hearing it somewhere!
Thanks again for your videos, David! Your shots are magnificent and do justice to the place. Sorry you had to wander around under the relentless sun. Looking forward to the Guaymas video. I hope you're feeling better from the fall.
Gracias amigo! Actually the walk in the sun was ok, I think I turned into a robot. I was actually running at one point lol. The Guaymas video is much less intense mainly because I could barely walk jaja
Sure you'll love it Fred! There's so much more to do and see that I could ever include in only one video. I've got another video from Hermosillo waiting to be edited!

@@davidostrowski679 Yes, it’s super hot there! BTW: The Mexican Starlet image is of María Félix, a Mexican movie star from the 40’s & 50’s. Our version of Elizabeth Taylor. Her birthplace is Alamos, Sonora. She was muy Chingona!
Thanks for visiting and Showing San Carlos. Is such a small place but full of beautiful places. Is literatelly the Desert along with the Sea. You have all kinds of cactus and desert on your back and right infront of you the beautiful beach. By El Delfinario, also the Jungle by the Manga, El Caracol with white sand like the caribean. Piedras pintas with beautiful and colorful little rocks every where. And many more things. Also the Mural is not Elizabeth Tailor. I know you didn'd said it was you said it reminds you, but she is Maria Felix Mexican Icon Del Cine Dorado. Mexican actress. Thanks again. Hope you come back soon.
Your Mexico videos are always outstanding, David, and this one is no exception. Some really beautiful shots! I have never been to Sonora, though I have been very close to it on the US side of the border.
Thanks Neil! Even though I'm not really a beach fan, these places really do allow me to do more in terms of videography! Sonora is really tough! Especially at this time of year, 42c today in Hermosillo and I was filming up a hill! Dead!
Not sure if you are the first vlogger to shoot at the mirador but you killed it with those shots. Looked like a commercial for a place somewhere else. The desert-mountain shots were also nice.
Wowsers what a lovely place, cracking drone shots too. Living on the outskirts of a tourist area myself and being from a big tourist area in the UK, I have to confess I'm not one for tours. I am much more into getting off the beaten track or just wondering around seeing where tacks take me!
You and me both hun! I forget did you tell me where you're from in UK? My Nan lived I'm Bridport so we used to go that beach that was in Broadchurch as kids!
@@davidostrowski679 I am from Cornwall originally, Mullion down on the Lizard so quite a touristy place. Now living in Fethiye Turkey another tourist place LOL!!! But I try and avoid the tourist spots :D My Mum used to run a pub in Bridport a few years back - it was called the Hope and Anchor :)
Well done, David! This is our first look at one of your videos and we are impressed with your enthusiasm, knowledge and endurance, especially on this trek of San Carlos. As one of your ex-pat retirees who make San Carlos their part time home, we thought you'd like to know that we are one of many Canadians in San Carlos who likely at this point outnumber ex-pats from the USA. And yes, we too have a boat but we're not the rich and famous types that you alluded to. San Carlos is a place where everyone can enjoy some form of watercraft and a home. We look forward to your upcoming adventures.
Trek is certainly the right word! (Kind of a theme with many of my videos!). Great to hear from you! Re Canadian point you're definitely not the only Canadian to highlight that you outnumber people from the US! Hoping you return to San Carlos when I'm next in the Americas!
@@davidostrowski679 I live in Yuma Arizona. It’s right on the border of California and Arizona but also Baja California and Sonora. I spend more time in Baja California than Sonora but I go often to both.

The fact that you walked your way through sancarlos all the way to the top of the mirador 😱lol I am super impressed. This is such an amazing video, definitely captures the beauty of sancarlos my favorite place in Sonora 🥰🥰🥰✨
I would say gorgeous, stark and other planety like you say David, grandiose setting of the desert kind, excellent video David. The place is developed but not developed enough which makes it pleasant. Those boats, for the most part, belong to expats, as you say from California and Arizona and l would add a sprinkling of Canadians.. Most of those of those folks are back in the US and will come back in the Autum and Winter. On the other your tan shines through the video.
Haha it was impossible to pick up lol! Thankfully the taco had all the meaty bits of manta ray, not the jelly bits! And thanks man, Hermosillo after this one probably didn't do me any favors but hopefully I'll be better soon!
Unfortunately David missed the best view in San Carlos…same bay as Playa Algadones…the Catch 22 Beach! The same beach where the movie was filmed. The best beach in Mexico! And you filmed the Sea of Cortez! The Baja is just directly West. Glad you were able to enjoy San Carlos! We have had a home here for 18 years. We are from Tucson, AZ. FYI I had to chuckle…the ‘c’ in Tucson is silent.
I didn't miss it, my battery died and I went to Algodones after filming, why do you think I said I didn't get home until 9pm lol. I know that was the Sea of Cortez, I was purposely exaggerating to highlight to vast expanse of oceans. Why has no one understood this haha, I even said Sea of Cortez purposely in the intro!
Outstanding. Amazing , this experience was phenomenal. These mountains like you said are stunning , dramatic and overlook this Bay. A great place to shoot movies like maybe a pirates of the carribbean. Pirates of the Pacific. Did I just give them the next idea for a movie. Pirates...Of the Pacific
Hey thanks, DJI Mavic Mini 2, it's the only one I've ever used. Basic and simple to use if you're a beginner but also very fragile and prone to technical issues. I had one shoot 600m into the air by itself and crash on a building and another went out of control after the gimbal froze and it spiraled into a fountain
I did high school in guaymas and always what made me hallucinate that towns are or were those crazy mountains that look small but they divide a lor different sights
That beach in front of El Mar restaurant is never crowded. They have a wedding or 2 every weekend. Some with spectacular fireworks. The snorkeling is great. I saw a local diver come in with a bag full of octopuses (octopi?) for local restaurants. The best place in town for breakfast is Turquesa across the street from Charly's Rock but still a good view of the bay. Tetikawa is the name of the beautiful twin peaks in the background. The giant sea birds are pelicans. There are two types of very large cactus, organ pipe with many arms and saguaro is the taller one.
So funny 😂 you commented on the dinosaur birds. They are pelicans ! Thanks so much for the tour and the drone shots. It looks like Phoenix or Tucson- pronounced To sahn) with a beach.

Amazing! I knew you'd know these things amigo
Y LE PINTARON MUY FEA SU NARIZ
@@roadnland1801 Wow! Well, give it a chance if you can. You will be just fine in any time of the year.
Thanks for the video. Love San Carlos and Guaymas it equals family for me.
Bonitos lugares por mi pais, bienvenidos todos los turistas solo limpiemos las playas en conjunto
Nice! Been planning on visiting there (Guaymas and Hermosillo) in the next couple of months. Looks like fun.
Sure you'll love it Fred! There's so much more to do and see that I could ever include in only one video. I've got another video from Hermosillo waiting to be edited!
It is! If you can rent a house in Marina Real, beautiful private beach.
This is the most informative video i have seen on San Carlos!! Amazing
You just shared a wonderful experience in this video. It's certainly a small beautiful place. We are honored living here. Thanks David. 💞
Thanks Aisha! Glad you enjoyed! Definitely a crazy day lol
A Pterodactyle LOL! Great video! You always travel to unique places and I love discovering them! Thank you for taking us along! ☺️
Saludos desde Hermosillo Sonora, loved your video. You’re so funny! I’m happy people see the beauty of our beautiful San Carlos.
What areas would you consider safe areas for Mexican American women to go to?
A hidden gem!!
100%!
Aquí vamos!! Siguiéndote David!!!! Mucha suerte!!!
That was an awesome travel in san carlos, i really enjoy this vídeo like you david and thanks for show us good places of san carlos, have a nice day ✌🏻
Glad you enjoyed Carlos!
Hi David. I’ve been there..Twice. I did like it a lot. Sonora is wonderful. Great people..Peaceful and beautiful views. I love your videos. Enjoy your trip. Safe travels. Love and light
I liked it more than I expected! Great place!
Is it safe? The town and traveling from Guadalajara?
I felt perfectly safe but I always feel it's more down to our own behavior. I thought it was quite quiet! I could be wrong but I think Tufesa buses has a route from Guadalajara up to Obregón or Guaymas, might have to check the website!
Omg this place San Carlos is sooo besitiful love love the video best views ever my friend you are awesome 👏 great work .
One of my favourites of this year!
Wow great city in Mexico, been in Mexico too a couple of years ago❤️
Absolutely fabulous thanks so much..keep well
you're welcome Maryjoan!
Amazing!!
WAO ONE OF YOUR BEST VIDEOS EVER!!!!
Thanks! It was a tough one!
OMG!!!!! I can’t believe you are staying in Ciudad Obregón! My family is from there. (I’m from San Francisco living in LA) No one in the states knows where that is ..lol. They have the best tácitos!!!! San Carlos is beautiful!!! Thank you for showinff our beautiful state :-)
You're welcome Mennette! I actually left Obregón a few weeks ago, but I was based there for 4 weeks. Muy loco jaja
Thanks! This is one my personal favorites in terms of drone shots and editing!
GRACIAS DAVID POR 🙏🏻 COMPARTIR TAN VALIOSO Y BONITO VIDEO GRACIAS GRACIAS GRACIAS SALUDOS A TODOS ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great video. Can't wait to go in Dec. The food looks awesome.
It is the happy ending. I live here and could not be happier!!!!
Brilliant! Happy for you! I'd love to come back for longer one day!
@@davidostrowski679 you always have a place to stay!!!
I live about 40 minutes from Sonora (and go often) but have yet to visit San Carlos. Definitely on my list now.
Awesome, are you in Arizona or Cali? I'm jealous that you're so close to such an awesome part of the world!
@@davidostrowski679 I live in Yuma Arizona. It’s right on the border of California and Arizona but also Baja California and Sonora. I spend more time in Baja California than Sonora but I go often to both.
What do you do for a living there
Sonora my home town, I’m just 3hrs away from San Carlos
Amazing! I want to go here now, it is gorgeous!
Dude, im big fan of u haha, i live actually in Ciudad Obregón, and i love how u document this beautiful place, I hope u enjoy your stay!
I will go ...
Wow I luv this place. David is pretty good too. Hope he is well these days.
A motorbike out into the mountains makes my day, everyday.
Chemtrails in a deserted place like this! We are fu…!
Enjoy! San Carlos is great. I'll definitely return
No clue why but that bird part had me cracking up😂
I love your videos.
Thanks Anita!
Anyone know if the local campgrounds are still open? I heard not so many options. Cheers
You need a Hat Broo! Nice video :D Welcome to México
jaja I'm surviving... so far jaja
😂😂😂😂 oh my God you said Niños mucho Problema 😂😂😂😂😂 Nice 👍 video my friend!!!!!
Jaja niños are often the enemy when filming. Muy curioso lol
@@davidostrowski679 😂😂😂😂😂!!! I understand!!!!
Do you know the location name where the wedding was being held? My son is looking for a location in San Carlos for his weddinf
Hey Claudia! I found it! Here's the Google maps location - Salón Duo Marinaterra
maps.app.goo.gl/YqGRNU92BeszzqCK6
You can even see that wedding area on the beach if you turn on satellite mode!
Hope your son has a great wedding!
Im from cd. Obregon, grew up in Tucson, saved up, just bought some land in san carlos. cant wait to start building
The picture on the wall is no other than the ever so beautiful #MariaFelix 💎🦎📸🎞📽
The fact that you walked your way through sancarlos all the way to the top of the mirador 😱lol I am super impressed. This is such an amazing video, definitely captures the beauty of sancarlos my favorite place in Sonora 🥰🥰🥰✨
Thanks Heidy! It's definitely one of my favourites of the year so far 😃
Que buen video!
I love your Mexico videos, as a Mexican you’ve shown me places I haven’t been.
I guess the whole coming back for the winter thing is now an issue unless they have residency. I was lucky I got the 180 days when I entered!
THanks. Gave me a really good view of the town. Oh, and it's 2 sawn. (Tucson). lol
16:10 and when rains comes, just a few is needed to pait all the landscape to a light green-brown color.
Hola David, hadn’t seen your videos in about a year, nice to run into you here in RUclips again !!
Welcome back! You have a lot to catch up on! This is my final series of videos (well, Serbia after Mexico). I'm then moving in to different things
Another taco that I haven't eaten, yet. Brilliant!!! Hope you've recuperated from the fall.
You are def in love with Mexico amigo 👍👍🤛🤛
Outstanding. Amazing , this experience was phenomenal. These mountains like you said are stunning , dramatic and overlook this Bay. A great place to shoot movies like maybe a pirates of the carribbean.
Pirates of the Pacific.
Did I just give them the next idea for a movie. Pirates...Of the Pacific
Thanks! Mask of Zorro and Catch 22 were filmed there I believe
Have fun and be safe my friend!
Great content on San Carlos. Had no idea of this place! Please tell me what model drone do you use/recommend?
Hey thanks, DJI Mavic Mini 2, it's the only one I've ever used. Basic and simple to use if you're a beginner but also very fragile and prone to technical issues. I had one shoot 600m into the air by itself and crash on a building and another went out of control after the gimbal froze and it spiraled into a fountain
Thanks, they have a Mini 3 Pro out now that looks good. A little spendy if your not a pro.
