Ben Affleck proved that he can be both Superman and Batman a great actor!George Reeves had a sad fate, rest his soul
Ben Affleck and Diane Lane starred together in Hollywoodland (2006). Affleck played George Reeves, one of the earliest actors to portray Superman, and Lane played Reeves' lover. In other words, Affleck went from playing Superman to Batman, while Lane went from playing Superman's girlfriend to playing his mother in Bvs.
The real reason they fought in BVS. Batman slept with Superman's mom 😅
2006 was the year of underrated throwback-style noires...this, All The King's Men and The Black Dahlia. All underrated gems.
Apparently, also broke back. "Brokeback Mountain".
Black dahlia was soo boring. And they could have at least put some truth into it. Everyone locally knows who did it.
@@johnb.8687 Who did it?
Plus nacho libre
But... Brick came out in '05
Easily one of the most underrated movies of the last 20 years. It should be seen more.
Just realized Ben Affleck played both superman and Batman
hell even daredevil
He banged Superman's mom as Superman
he's a dude playing another dude disguised as another dude
And he was great in both roles
Wonder what that means?😂
this movie is amazing from start to finish the entire cast and crew were great. ben or brody should have won best actor or something.
I liked Brody's acting the most. Such a talented actor!
unknowntuber unknowntuber I remember seeing this as a (way too young) man and I still thought this was amazing
It really is I still thing Eddie mannix killed him so sad they all used him and threw him away
This mystery will never be solved. 60 years later and still no answers and many unanswered questions.
This movie was so underrated. Nicely acted and lit. And (SPOILER)
the ending
with Adrien Brody and his son was touching in such a subtle way.
🎉
RIP George Reeves (January 5, 1914 - June 16, 1959), aged 45
And
RIP Bob Hoskins (October 26, 1942 - April 29, 2014), aged 71
You both will be remembered as legends.
Great movie! Way under rated!!
I love it 🤟. Ben is awesome as George Reeves , it was a sad 😞 ending of a great man...
I would like them to do an actual movie on the life Of George Reeves - this movie was "okay" but it's not exactly a Biographical depiction of George's life, it just touches on highlights here and there -
I think that’s why this film did not do better. The trailer implies this is based on Reeves’ life and it really is not. It’s half about his mysterious death and half about this detective.
1:36 Favorite Ben Affleck scene.
Here's some advice to George Reeves from Jack Larson:
"You are blessed in life if you can give people pleasure and happiness, you don't really know the value of what you're doing. So, you had better do your best with whatever is at hand. You never know what will outlive you."
I definitely wanna watch this movie
Never knew about this, till JUST NOW.
How have I never heard of this movie? It has Batman as Superman, and Martha.
and the detective from Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Warner Brothers would not let them use the name Superman in the title. Got lost.
give the movie a chance. it's ChinaTown meets Ray Donovan.
George reeves downfall was Lemmon. If he would of stayed with Toni he would of had it made. Eddie Mannix died 4 years after George did. All he had to do was wait a little longer....
Ben played daredevil, Superman and then Batman and he was great in all of those and still is
Superman, Daredevil and Batman .... this guy
Ben did great in all of them
Great movie 👌👍
64 years and this crime has never been solved! If this was a murder, then whoever did it is probably laughing that he or she got away with it.
Please make a movie about Christoper Reeve!!!
1:17 Roger: hey Eddie!
This is actually a pretty decent movie
Diane Lane was fucking hot in this movie.
She was hot in a lot of movies.
Gonna tell the kids this was the Snyder Cut.
This movie makes The Aviator combined with LA Confidential
So Bruce wayne dated Marta Kent, no wonder why he didn't kill Superman when he said,"Save Marta" 😆😆😆
Ben was great in this!
Yes he was!
Ben Affleck is a great actor!
No idea this movie even existed. Seems good
Damn, Ben played great character:
Superman
Daredevil
Batman
Ironically my 3 main cosplays are.
Batman
Captain America
Daredevil
I’ve always wanted to cosplay Superman.
@@jameshaggerty8348 It would be way more efficient to just cosplay Ben Affleck ;)
I feel bad for George reeves, this man clearly had internal struggles and he was crying out for help, so this just proves even Superman needs a savior, a friend, or a lot of people in his life who care about him to help him.
George Reeves /clark kent/superman Ben Affleck vs. Bruce Wayne/batman Ben Affleck
Why has it taken me 18 years to even hear about this movie. Is this available on stream?
bruce wayne and the pianist
2006 was Superman’s year if you think about it, smallville, justice league unlimited, superman returns, Hollywood land, now obviously I know that this movie isn’t about Superman but George reeves the actor who played as him
Why did you say that name? ! ! !
At least this tells us why Affleck hates playing superhero roles
Wow I didn't know that Ben Affleck played both Batman and Superman.
Now They Should Make A True Story Movie About Christopher Reeve Next Dose Any Body Agree With Me
Who could play him?
@@GESSO217 well of course, none other than brandon routh
Why was Johnny Stompanto's body in the morgue when George Reeves was? Stompanto died April 4 1958 and Reeves on June 16 1959. He must of been pretty RIPE by 1959! Ok, I get-it, it's a movie thing.
Affleck=superman= batman=son of martha
1:50 thats affleck's bruce wayne look
MARTHAA !!!
why does this start with the 25th Hour Opening theme?
Every hero has their struggles, whether it be fiction or real life
I think in honor of George Reeves I will ask an artist to draw a picture of the George Reeves Superman movies into a scene for my book. And I'm thinking about putting a small little message in the column saying. For George Reeves.
Bruce Wayne and Martha Kent
Varun Hans also Jack Driscoll and Mario
What's the old bodybuilder's name? Какое имя у старого культуриста?
😀😀😀😀😀
Do y'all think he was murdered
I do
It's Hollyweird. Nuff said.
Yes.
yes. some guy named gino who worked for the italian mafia probably killed george reeves. but gino is probably dead so no justice for george.
Oh how will I laugh if Bruce Wayne falls for Martha Kent..
Luca Munro lol xD
Lmffaaoo
So, thats why "Martha" word worked during Batman vs. Superman battle
+Aleksandar Vil Yep!
Imagine Clark Kent/Supermanş (Henry Cavill) face if he watch this! LOL
What was the deal with the cards throughout the movie. The ones covering the bullet holes and the one he holds up at the very end?
Yeah, that creeped me out 2! 😟
that explains why Superman fights Batman
didn’t know Luca Changretta was a detective
Basicly american Matt Smith was George Reeves
I felt this movie was poorly done. I felt the movie didn't accurately portray the actual story. There was more than 1 detective investigating. Also from Faster Than A Speeding Bullet (the book) and many other sources, George and his mother was estranged. His mother lied to him about his real birth date, and who his biological father was. The movie portrayed his mother to be nice a bit eccentric. Despite the problems I am not 100% sure, George's mother was supporting him financially.
A lot of unsolved hubbub but the one positive thing in the movie is the ending where there are 3 possible scenarios as to what actually happened that night.
I do not feel either Toni Mannix or Leonore Lemmon murdered or in Toni's case, had anything to do with the murder,,,and I do mean murder: I don't believe it was suiciide.
The reports state the police were not called for about 45 minutes. I feel there may have been more than one person in George's bedroom that night. There is no way in or out of that bedroom except the staircase in front of the house aka the doorway if you will...since that is the case that was the only way anyone could get in or out. Or from what it looked like that is what it seemed aka Hollywoodland...If that is the case whoever was in the bedroom had only one way in and one way out. (Speculation on my part) Since that is the case, I feel whoever did this and feel it was more than one person, they had to come down that staircase. The murderers confronted the guests at gunpoint and threatened them. Why else could there have been a 45 minute wait to call the police?
It is speculated that for some reason Leonore did it but by accident, but then there is the fact that people state she was downstairs with the guests. Leonore was quoted as saying George opened a drawer where the gun was hidden. Took it out, and was going to shoot himself. If she was downstairs saying this then obviously she wasn't upstairs. But what would prompt her to say this if it actually happened? It doesn't seem as if Leonore was upstairs as George said he was going to go upstairs to sleep. If Leonore went upstairs as well, why would all those people stay in the house, as the two were the hosts?
But regardless that rules out Leonore had murdered George.
I feel Eddie set it up...he purchased the house Leonore and George were in for Toni. Toni gifted the house to George. George dumped Toni, and Leonore moved in. The 2 were supposedly engaged and planning to wed in 3 days supposedly. It doesn't seem likely Leonore would want her future husband dead?
If this was set up with Eddie, I do not believe Toni knew...simply because of the argument the 2 had (aka Hollywoodland) and the rumors that Toni threatened to start
There is a saying Love is blind. Toni was an astute socialite before marrying Eddie. She was a professional dancer and one of the Ziegfield Follies dancers. I am not sure if it was one dancer or all but it was known that the legs of the dancer(s) were insured for one million dollars.
Leonore was also an astute socialite and a member of The Cafe Society. I think it is an injustice to Leonore to have the public believe she was a golddigger after George's money.
Toni was well liked by the other performers in The Adventures of Superman. Both were active participants in helping out charities. Toni was good friends with Phyliss Coates, as in one of the books Toni would treat Phylis to have massages by professional masseurs. I know Jack Larson and she had a good repoire.
What anyone felt or thought about Leonore Lemmon I haven't the slightest, though I believe Jack Larson did not care for Leonore..
This is a factual real life mystery story that will never be resolved.
Eloise Ockert... But why the 2 bullet 🕳 in the floor where Mr Reeves was sitting on the edge of the bed where allegedly shot himself. The party downstairs only heard a single gunshot so they say. Was there someone else in the room with him ? Was the killer if there was another person present Clever enough to discharge 2 rounds in the floor to the throw investigators off. Or was Mr Reeves so wasted that he let off 2 rounds in the floor before turning the Gun on himself. Was there a struggle with him and someone from the social gathering downstairs the whole thing is a Tragic and Sad mystery that leaves you puzzled 😕 But it’s definitely only 2 reasons for his unfortunate and untimely death... Either Mr Reeves was upset about not getting the Acting Gigs he really desired or it had something to with the Affair. Me personally I believe that there was Foul Play involved or at least that’s what I want to believe. In 1959 the 🌎 didn’t have the resources for people who have suicidal thoughts that we today so a suicide you can’t completely rule out either.
Toni was having an affair with Eddie in the 30s. He and his wife Berniece were Catholic and didn't believe in divorce however Betty filed in late 1937 citing physical abuse and adultery. Making it clear that Eddie was alone in those beliefs. It was never finalized because she died in a car accident in Nov 1937.
Toni moved in with Eddie that same year but they didn't get married until 1951, the same year she started a side relationship with Reeves before he became Superman. Reeves had divorced his wife of 10 years in 1950 so there may be some overlap between those. Reeves broke up with Toni in 1959 and was scheduled to marry Leonore but was killed (yup I think so) 3 days prior to the wedding.
Is it possible that Toni told Eddie she wanted a divorce to stop Reeves from marrying Leonore? We know he didn't like divorces but 2 dead wives in freak accidents would have looks pretty suspicious. Eddie was in a wheelchair in 59 from heart attacks so he couldn't have done it himself. He had connections and dirt on tons of people. Apparently Toni never recovered from Reeves's death and made shrines to him while still married to Eddie before he died.
@@SunZu007 I've heard that supposedly they fire warning shots to see if they can actually do it. This was the excuse the police gave us when a friend died allegedly by suicide upstairs by himself but there were 2 shots additional shots that no one heard. House full of people... sounds like a struggle to me but we have no proof. I can't believe how similar this is! Either that is something that happens in suicides or this is the story people tell when they hear a gun fight going on upstairs.
@@ateam404 much more common in stabbing suicides, they call them "hesitation wounds" where the individual builds up to the idea of fully stabbing him or herself. Never heard of them in shooting suicides.
Now he is Batman
Batman Mario bros pianista y martha
Auto Focus flick is better
ben affleck got role superman before batman
Wait. This isn’t Justice League.
Oh so thats why bruce wanted to save martha in BvS! Its his girlfriend 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Super man: You cheated on my dad..
Martha: but he was super man
Batman: No I'm Batman
Superman: shut the hell up
Batman: Hey at least I didn't kill anyone
Superman: I had to! You knew I had to!
Batman: it's not my fault Martha was hot back then
THEN HERE COMES..
BATMAN V SUPERMAN Martha gets kidnapped
Superman: SHES MINES
Batman: SHES WITH BATMAN!!
Bob Hoskins (RIP) looks like a perfect Lex Luther
Mystery solved why Batman and Superman fight.
BATMAN SLEPT WITH SUPERMAN'S MOM
Chinatown Part 2..
Quote: batman slept with superman's mum..
The Illuminati strikes again.
He made a better superman then batman in my opinion
greatest hollywood unsolved miystery? - where is the black Dahlia?
Ben plays a superhero and commits suicide..hmm
He had hope y was to be married soon. The key word is:" hope". Like Rob Pilatus of milli vanilli who was found dead in Germany on promotional day. M. U. R. D. E. R. E. D..
Ben Affleck looks.... odd.... like plastic surgery odd....
He might be wearing prosthetics.
He was wearing a prosthetic nose, his hairline was given the altered appearance of a widows peek, and he wore blue eye-contacts. He went to great lengths to capture Reeves' physical appearance, voice tone, and various mannerisms as close as possible.
@@mattb6369 his hair looked similar to that of Bruce Wayne in BvS with the widows peak and all
This trailer just ruined the movie
Ben affleck played as daredevil, Superman and then Batman.
I have an opinion that a hitman killed George reeves, I don’t think reeves committed suicide.
