Just purchased my first Duro, and found your video...4 years later and subscribed to your channel. It's great to see young people with a passion for watches. Love your style!
Just picked up one of these as an everyday watch, and am surprised at how much I like it - the design and construction are both top-quality, to the point where it's just enjoyable to look at it on my wrist. (Incidentally, I understand that the movement is a Miyota quartz that has been modified by Casio in some unspecified way.) I would fairly describe the Duro as "the Submariner for the rest of us."
Thanks for the great review, I've been wearing my Duro daily for approximately four months and is been performing flawlessly, my SKX007 has take a back seat to this watch for a while. Cheers!
I think I've probably seen all the reviews for this watch, and this is certainly one of the best. They've recently announced that they'll no longer be using the marlin symbol, so I took the opportunity to purchase my second Duro.
Casio understands what most people need and can afford. I bought one of these and i wish i could also buy the mdv102, but these days it's impossible to find one at a decent price
Outstanding review! Always impressed with the thoroughness of your product reviews in many ways your articulate manner reminds of J Anthony's watch videos, which I enjoy as well. Keep up the great work! Also love that Casio Duro, don't really need another watch but it just seems like a great value for the money and I have a love for diver style watches.
+John Franco Thanks so much! Your comment made my day! And it was really the sheer value that attracted me to the Duro in the first place, so I totally understand, it's almost irresistible!
I'm expecting delivery of this watch in a few days and after considerable research prior to making the purchase, I have to say yours is my favorite review. I sold my exotic chronographs years ago in a moment of what I thought was maturity and was then content with budget watches. These were noteworthy primarily for their myriad shortcomings and being unrepairable when they finally failed, so just using the phone for a few years was the better option. Getting back into the old passion quickly is easy to justify with so small an expenditure and this watch shows a level of ethics and respect for their customers on the part of Casio that is far from universal, as of course you know. I sense from your tone that you also appreciate this as a social and philosophical gesture from that company. BTW, you can have many indices or one index! :-)
I was a Casio dealer back in 1979 and they only had a handful of watch models. They were all digital watches, which was the next big thing at the time. Casio watches sold like hotcakes.
Great review, I've had my Duro for a few years, and recently took it for a new battery fitting,,, the guy wanted a lot more than the cost of a new watch just to replace the battery, !! So I bought a battery, and a case back removal tool, from Amazon , and I'm happy again,,, I've just found your channel and subbed,, ps,, I wanted something just slightly smaller, so I've ordered an Invicta 29178 based on your Invicta review,,, pps, I've had my Duro on a lovely Zuludiver rubber deployant strap since I got it,,
Great review! As a diver, I really appreciated that you addressed what the unidirectional bezel is for. I’ve owned many great and not so great dive watches over the years, and as the time went on, I became all about simple design and functionality. After all, at the end of the day, it’s a tool that you need to rely on for your own safety. But it does look really good! Lol, of what use is a fancy looking and expensive bulletproof vest if it doesn’t stop bullets? Just got this one yesterday, and immediately fell in love with it. It’s definitely a keeper! Btw, I know a lot of people crap on the strap, but it’s fine to me. It’s almost identical to G Shocks imho. Fits securely and has enough length to fit over a wetsuit. Doesn’t seem like it will start breaking any time soon, even with regular salt water exposure.
BojaNoci totally agree with all that ( especially as a diver myself)! The strap isnt too bad I agree, but a natural rubber strap makes a world of difference on the wrist. Cheers!
I`m gettin mine in 2 days... can`t wait really! will try it with the rubber strap first... but I really like the look of it with a NATO. Great review man! Thank you!
Super tuff timepiece.I've worn mine for almost 3 years and its spot on still as the day it came out of the package.I did notice that the second hand markers on the watch face are not matching up with where the second hand lands, its worse after the 12 till 6 for some reason but, still keeps good time.It has a definite place in my affordability.
Panzer Faust quartz watches in general have trouble with the second hand lining up with the markers some can do it but on this price range I would not have expected it to line up! Still a nice watch!
A year ago, I dropped my prized blue Casio Dive from a 10 story, 120 foot tall buisiness tower. Just for kicks. It has never felt so alive! Ticks as well as the day that I got it!!
Im about to leave for my military training and have been trying my best to find a budget friendly watch that can handle the abuse of what I intended on putting it through, hopefully this thing in tough enough for the job, we will definitely see.
Very good video. Specially when it's the opinion of someone who actually used it for diving. It would've been great if you could have taken some pictures while underwater. The marlin at the front and the back are why I bought it, a very nice detail. Regards
+G VS Thank you! I totally agree about the marlin. The thumbnail picture for this video is actually a picture when I went diving with this watch. You can just barely see the NATO strap on my left wrist by that mound of coral :) But yeah, I wish I had a better picture of the watch underwater!
G VS I would love to do that! It'll just depend on what I can get a hold of and when. I do own a few other Casios, but unfortunately no G's or Edifices. That's definitely on the higher end of my to review list though :)
Those aren't applied indices, the whole dial is stamped out in one operation. Everything else is silkscreened on. Also this has a Miyota 2115 movement.
Excellent review. I really like my Casio Duro Dive Watch. I actually prefer the Casio Duro over my Citizen ProMaster EcoZilla dive watch. I have the Blue Shark NATO 22mm watch band on my Duro. I got the British khaki color. It looks amazing on my Casio Duro. I paid $32 for it. Blue Shark NATO watch bands are the best.
Great Video! Trying to find out, if i should buy this watch... Wanted a clean design analog CASIO with a touch of elegance, spot on accurate hands and not too expensive. My only contra is the size. My wrist is 7.5'' and i prefer watches not bigger than 40mm. Do you think it's worth a try? Greetings from Germany.
Great review! It looks like superb value. Big Casio watches sometimes wear smaller than they really are, due to clever lug design; my Edifice is like that. It can't avoid a degree of homage-ish imitation due to the fact that it and the Rolex Sub are both designed to do a job: a usefully "grippy" bezel will almost certainly have to look like that, and the markings on any useful bezel are what such markings must be, and one set of functional crown guards must look very similar to most other functional crown guards. This determination of form by function may go a long way to explaining why most dive watches look very similar to one another.
I have a Duro that I use on weekend sailing trips. The watch has proven to be very durable. I need a daily beater and I was considering picking up another Duro and modding it. Is it possible to change to a sapphire crystal and a Batman bezel?
Excellent informative review 👍 had mine on a NATO for swimmimg but changed it out for a Colareb leather for everyday use, spot on review, real good watch especially for the price.
The Young Watchery The only thing the Duro needs is a rechargeable cell or am i just itching to get a Citizen Eco promaster Diver to put on a Nato and wear inbetween times? probably a bit of both lol or am i just working my way up to that Sinn 104 in the future? that too 😆.
The Young Watchery Thanks definitely my grail watch love the looks and quality seems spot on, getting a Citizen Eco promaster for nearly half the list price so a no brainer and next watch in a few years will be that Sinn 104, great new watch channel hope it goes from strength to strength.
A really good review of a cracking watch, I got one of these a couple of months ago, I have a fairly large wrist and this suits it perfectly, a large, clear face, but very slim. It looks way more expensive than it is. It would be only improved by putting lume on it on a par with Seiko. In reality it's much more a tool watch than any mechanical watch.
thanks. Another thing, I know it states measurements but I have a G-shock DW6900BB-1. Now that looks bigger that the Casio, but says its smaller....can you tell me how the sizes compare?
+Timmer Klotz I'm unfortunately not familiar with that particular model. But G Shocks tend to be on the larger side. So if you have no issues with that, the Duro is probably a safe bet .
Sonho adiado.
+Watch Rob Yes! 4 dives with the Duro so far, and countless hours of swimming and snorkeling in the ocean :) A true diver's diver, and something that you don't have to worry about, which is nice when you're in the ocean and you have more important things to think about!
The Young Watchery got some good content here just find your niche, hey this is the only video I’ve seen so I guess I jumped the gun a bit. Keep it up. p.s it is some strong shit mate
Sorry there brother, I'm going to have to correct you on the weight. The case alone is 75 grams - with the band it's suplied with it's 93 grams. Also, people need to stop reviewing this watch as some monstrously large 44mm watch. This is not even remotely a large watch! I bought this thinking it was going to be on the large side, but it's not at all. Unless the majority of people reviewing this are pygmies, this is a small watch. This watch would be perfect at 46mm and around 10.5mm thick
why is u copying urban gentry . Cringing. Even the intro is the same and “watch check” you can be inspired by him and his Chanel but please. Please find ur own video style... CRiiInNNggGiNnnGggG
Lol I can’t stand that pansy ass sellout wannabe aristocrat. If you’ve watched all my videos you’ll have seen that I threw shade at him multiple times lol. Every watch channel does a watch check. If u have a better term in all ears. And how tf is the intro the same lol?
The Young Watchery the content is good it’s just very similar to urban gentry. All I’m sayin. I’ve watched a few. But it’s almost like you’re mocking him in all the videos.
Affordable yes, perfection no way, The lume and date window are terrible on this watch. At the very least Casio could have used a movement with a larger date wheel instead of the one they chose.
The size of the date wheel is fine in my opinion. In fact I hate divers that have an overpowering date window because it distracts from the legibility. Also it’s as perfect as a 40$ diver can get period. I’ll stretch that to 100$ too.
Kid, stop saying "of course" and "obviously" so much; count the number of times you do it. Very annoying, and it detracts significantly from an otherwise decent presentation. I am doubtful however that Casio was making phones in the 1940's as you said it was.
D H Of course, you're totally right. Obviously though you didn't watch the video/ pay attention because I said they were founded in 1946 and they produced phones in different sentences. Obviously, that doesn't mean they are connected of course. It obviously only means that A.) They were founded in 1946. And B.) At some point CASIO produced phones. And hell maybe they did make phones in the 40s. Have a nice day good sir.
The indices are actually not applied. Casio cleverly pressed them through the back of the dial to make them look applied. Good review!
I observed two battery changes and I can attest to this.

I think I've probably seen all the reviews for this watch, and this is certainly one of the best. They've recently announced that they'll no longer be using the marlin symbol, so I took the opportunity to purchase my second Duro.
They still use the Marlin on the US models.
I bought this same watch in 1995.
Never changed batteries, no complain. Happy to buy it again, becuase mine was stolen.
Casio understands what most people need and can afford. I bought one of these and i wish i could also buy the mdv102, but these days it's impossible to find one at a decent price
So young but so smart wow you’re a stud bro keep up the good work
Purchased a duro today based mostly on the reviews I’ve seen.
I'm impressed by the quality of your review, keep up the good work young man

Great watch and also great presentation... thumbs up👍👍👍
Excellent review young man! You have a future in this!
You did a great job reviewing this. Plus your intro music had me dancing. Haha

It is nice and clean without a bubble magnifier
+Alex Cooper Totally agree! I'm not a huge fan of cyclopses either. Thanks for watching!
Great review😉
Got 3 of them they are great. A little big though. 42mm would have been better.
Bit of a shame you stopped doing videos years ago 😔

Hay how you doing over there???
Im about to leave for my military training and have been trying my best to find a budget friendly watch that can handle the abuse of what I intended on putting it through, hopefully this thing in tough enough for the job, we will definitely see.
As someone who served, i can advise you to buy a G-9000 Mudman or even a smaller DW-5600 with bull bars. Water or mud won't be an issue at all.
Did you have to do a battery change in the three years? If yes, did you test for water resistance after that? Thanks.
Great review down to earth 🤙 the only thing is we use air in our tanks for diving not O2
Great review! U cant beat that watch at that price point. I have to get one
Very good video. Specially when it's the opinion of someone who actually used it for diving. It would've been great if you could have taken some pictures while underwater. The marlin at the front and the back are why I bought it, a very nice detail.

Just came across this review. Well done.
David Hill thanks!!
Thanks for the review, can you please also review the Casio MTP-S120L ? Thanks
The silver dial version looks good too.
Thank you for your comment! I'm not familiar with that version, I'll have to check it out!

i think it's worth a try yes. for 7.5" wrists it should look and feel pretty on point
Good review! Keep it up!
If they would make a smaller version, I'd buy one, for now I'll stick with my Seiko 4205 and 2 SKX013s. My wrist is only 6 3/4.
Awesome I bought this Watch yesterday & 3 Blue Shark NATO straps, ( in shipping, haven't received straps yet ) Awesome Video Dude, Thanks
+Rodney Crider nice! Enjoy it

Great daily piece. Only lack is the lume.
a bezel is used to track bottom time that is all
Very good review.
Trex100 thanks!
Nice review; do you know how to replace the battery? Take out the back plate?
You need a case back remover. I’d recommend getting one on amazon or just taking it to a jeweler. It’s a screw in case back
Excellent informative review 👍 had mine on a NATO for swimmimg but changed it out for a Colareb leather for everyday use, spot on review, real good watch especially for the price.

Hey man great review, does it fit big on wrist? Hard to tell in a video ha
+Timmer Klotz No, thankfully due to the compact lugs and position of the lug holes, it wears definitely on the smaller side for a 44mm.
thanks. Another thing, I know it states measurements but I have a G-shock DW6900BB-1. Now that looks bigger that the Casio, but says its smaller....can you tell me how the sizes compare?

Great show bro peace
would it be too big for 6.5 wrist? thanks
Great review and yes, Casio needs to make a smaller version.
wonderful review thankyou YW 11/17/2018 very informative
Love your channel!
Seriously, awesome review of a very cool watch #
+Aron Dunlap Thanks! Glad you like it too!
Casio could discontinue this duro and the price will raise like crazy 😂
can you open the back case? i would like to see the movement
+lee choon cheong haha no
16 cm wrists?
What material is the bezel???
NURCHAN PUT THE KAMCHA IN MY BORSHE the bezel itself is steel, but the bezel insert is aluminum.
I love mine

Hey that's great. I just ordered one for vacation. Also got a Seiko SKX on the way as a back up just in case
i love my skx and my turtle, but i wont wear it to work (electrician) the duro is the answer for me
i dont give a shit for obama though
Sir you have a gave away watch because I'm no mo watch anymore
why Bill Gates chose Casio Duro?
How old is this kid?
F1 F I don’t know lost track a couple years ago sorry wish I could help.
The bezel has nothing to do with air.
You remind me of a mini Bill Gates. Thanks for watch review 👍
Who also wears a Casio Duro.
Why are you insulting him?

+Wimble Don haha, to each his own. Thanks for watching!
buy yourself an MTD-1053D
That’s not just some little fish, that’s a marlin bruh, it signifies dive worthiness!
Are you serious? That marlin engraving is badass! So is the one on the watch face!
