- As promised, here is the first of three 're-makes' of videos I have previously posted, but this time, using my new Roland drums. I guarantee that the end will cause you great amusement........... :-)
Every Little Thing She Does was one of my very first videos on RUclips, posted back in 2007! Great fun, huge amounts of energy by Mr. Copeland, and with his usual technical flair, fluency and speed. There is a lot going on, and it is a tough one to cover.
For those of you who might want to berate me for not playing this accurately enough, please watch my original video, which is far closer to the original than this 2011 video. The purpose of today's video is simply to show how I play it 'for fun' on my Roland, and it is NOT a 'note for note' attempt, ok? Certainly, if it were not for the very funny event near the end, I would not have posted this particular take - there are too many errors and the timing is not great: I fully realise that. But frankly, I don't care - I like this vid 'cos of the end, so it gets posted ;-)
I'm sorry you cannot see my bass drum pedal. I tried to get an angle where you could see all the toms and cymbals (I did several other songs the same afternoon), but it is not easy. Anyway, this angle gives you a better idea of the set up of the new drum kit, I think.
I have tried to get as many of the hi hat bits and bobs going on, but I missed a lot of 'em! Stewart's bass drum pattern in the chorus', and especially the outro, as I pointed out in 2007, is fiendishly random and at odds with what you would expect, and so I am well wide of the mark here. I will admit that the intricate nature of the hi hat work in this, at this speed, with the occasional slightly open sound in the verses, I find much harder to do on the Roland than I do with acoustic cymbals. Still getting used to it? Or is it really more difficult to do? Not sure yet!
Whatever you all think of the technical merits of this 2nd cover, I reckon I deserve a prize for the incident at the end! Don't think I missed a single beat!
I am finally working out the best way to create these videos with my V-drums. Unfortunately it is a lot more involved, and means me messing around with iMovie and an audio interface and scrubbing the camcorder sound and synching audio and visual and basically, disappearing up my own backside! Still, the end result is much better sound quality, non? If you listen on good headphones, you can even hear that the drums are panned!!!!
More coming very soon, including a 'tour' of the new drum kit, for all you drum geeks out there!
If you have not seen it, have a look at my Christmas Gorilla video too!!
:-)
One of my all time favorite songs, love to watch musicians really get into the song they are playing, really gets me into it as well. Awesome job!
Thank you so much, that's a wonderful thing to say 😊
Alex, it is your ability to laugh at yourself which raises you above many individuals ! Don't ever let that change, sir !
BTW Without the video no-one would ever know that a stick was dropped ! In fact (if anything) it provides a beautiful segue from the crescendo and tom work into the hi-hat piece. Fantastic save, my man ! Out of the chaos something artistic became manifest !
Dude, I've been following your videos for over 10 years, and it still excites me to watch you work.
Thank you very much. I spent 20 minutes and 8 videos trying to find someone who did “the fill” correctly. Yours is the closest
This.
Excellent drumming ,you not only play drums but yo feel the music !!
That's a great compliment, thank you so much!
Yes doesn’t he…
I really enjoyed watching you play. Awesome
That's very kind of you!
Hello Jouxplan! YOU YOU feel it totaly , true musician 👍🏾 great drumsound
Wow, thank you so, so much!
love it! facial expressions come as an extra fun factor!!! Great work Jouxplan!!!!!
Ha! Ha! Yes, that seems to be what people love whe they watch me play live :) I like to think of it as pasion - some call it gurning! Thank you
@@jouxplan It's totally gurning.
To this day, still my favorite and most enjoyable drum cover to watch!
Wow, that is high praise indeed! I am humbled :)
It’s not acoustic
Lovely! Love this song and the "build-up". Well done mr drummer! 🥁
This is one of my favorites videos in RUclips! I always see it again and again!... Congratulations, Jouxplan!
I'm a (severely) amateur drummer and we've been working through this song. I have never seen it covered perfectly. Congrats. The drummer for the police was very unorthodox and hard to predict. Requires 100% of my concentration to nail it........even then i'm not beat for beat but close enough that it passes.
Thanks for the video
I think this is probably the most accurate drum cover of this song on youtube, I wish non-musicians could see how much truly goes into something that sounds so effortless.
You are very kind, thank you! :)
Great stick and strokes Bro... I love the Police and Stewart Copeland is one of my favorite drummers...
Thank you so much :) Yep, Copeland and the Police were epic and unique!
I’ve seen this video a bunch of times and enjoy it always. Great song and great drum set 👍
You play with *joy*! And skill, too, of course. A great pleasure to watch. Thanks, Jouxplan....
That's extremely kind of you, thank you! 😊
I know this is an old video now, but i just want to say that it makes me feel the joy that you clearly feel.. It just makes me feel good.. Thank you
jouxplan, as usual you are awesome. I come back to watch your performance alot, so you are indeed my favorite re-run! Cheers, Mark
Excelente hombre!!!!!!... Una versión muy buena del maestro Copeland.
@FunkMasterGodOfRock2 Dude! That's a lovely comment! I thank you :-) I am indeed having a lot of fun playing this. Many thanks, both from me, and my drum kit!
I've watched this a hundred times over the years since you posted. Still amazing every time. You are the best!!
Wow! Thank you so much! Now I know why this video gets so many views :)
kkkk.Sensational. It gave a real show in choreography and drums .. The most fun time was when the stick fell. Top.... Congratulations.. One more like and one more written ..
Wow, friend, I love watching you drum. I have been playing and I look so, SOOOO serious when I play. You are a lesson to the joy of the craft. Good job from Memphis, Tennessee

That was both cool to watch and funny as well mate. Love your passion and you sure can play👊
Well done. So into what you're doing
THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!
Thank you! Yes, I love these drums, though there are plenty of people who hate v-drums on sight :-) I find them very versatile and it is great to be able to change the sound so much, depending on what I am playing.
That is very high praise, and I am so glad I did not ruin your favourite song for you! Cheers!
The recovery - definitely my best one of all time. Still makes me laugh now when I watch it :-) I really don't know how I got away with it!
great excellent, cogratulations guy.
The best cover for every little thing...Love it!!
Nice and tight playing
Steward Copeland would be happy with his performance. plus he's having fun with it and loves playing. once again great job.
Brilliant!!!! That's what the world needs...less self conscious and overly serious drummers... Also love how you have a rock guitarist lead break face when playing... Oh..and you done a good job of the cover as well.. OxO
I so enjoy watching you play
Very inspiring and really funny at 3´50. Enjoyed it very much.
Regards, Robert
Wow! great job! can clearly tell you're having fun!!
great. I play in a tribute band to the police, and your videos have been very useful to me, because you play very closer to the originals. Thanks !!!
Muy bien interpretado , con bastante feeling y muy buena salida al perder la baqueta, la verdad no se notó en el sonido
That was great. The show must go on. Fav police song
This has got to be one of the greatest rock songs ever written! So uplifting! And those drums lines?...Oh, my! You play with such feel and nuance! Really awesome! You made my day!
I love how much fun you have playing!!
Ha! Ha! Thank you so much!
That was brilliant! Even dropping thd drumstick you kept it all together lol. Legendary drumming, mate.
Congratulations! Very good job!
Didn't expect the funky (and still perfect) groove at the end. I am subscribed!.
Awesome Amazing mate greetings from Brooklyn New York 🇺🇸🇪🇺🇬🇧
I love the sound of the whole kit!
Yo that set looks dope yo, especially the hi-hat that actually moves! Dope drumming btw!
Sweet, the Professor & the Roller Skater, got to be the finest rock drummers ever.
Every little thing that Stewart did was magic an you just nailed it my friend
That is very, very kind of you :)
@n8gr81 Ha! Ha! Ha! I'm glad you clarified that! Many thanks!
I have to say that when I look back at the vids I did back in 2007/2008, I am amazed at how much better a drummer I have become. Doing all these videos over the years and getting the incredible feedback from all of you has really made me strive to do things I never ever thought I would be able to do. It's been a lot of fun and it just shows how we never ever stop learning, even when you are as old a git as I am :-)
The way you transport the notes from your head to your body is incredible.
Amazing cover! Love how much passion you have for it. You have my subscription sir.
Awesome Alex, Happy to see your still rockin in the new year
Woowww, I always have found this song the best of the Police!!!! 1981...Fantastic to get a spirtit of the drumming Yeah!!!

It shows that you enjoy playing! Great job!
Wow! Absolutely fantastic! You lost a stick but you carried right on. Great cover and performance. There is some 'Keith Moon" in you.
Well done mate well played. You aced it loved it
great ,awesome you was into it emotional and laughed .i really enjoyed it
Awesome!!!!!! I Love to watch and hear your Playing exactly every Beat!!!
I'm great fan of you...!!!! :-)
I'm so glad you kept the stick drop in and decided against another take. So many videos on RUclips are flawless due to an unknown amount of takes to get it spot on and this standard is unattainable for budding musicians. Your video shows that it happens to even the best (and you are definitely in that league for me).
We are only human, keep loving what you are doing!
that was amazing!!!
I can only imagine the high you got when you played that, it emanated through the web, i just had to watch that again. Superlative!
Ha! Ha! Thank you so much!
Simply superb!
Impresionante, símplemente perfecto. Felicidades y gracias :)
Impressive, just perfect. Congratulations and thank you :)
Spent a good part of today watch all your stuff again!
That's amazing and very humbling! I can't bear to watch any of my older videos - it amazes me how much I have improved during my 12 year RUclips career!!
Lol I haven't watched this in years! I forgot about the stick drop at the end, nice recovery my man, and freakin awesome cover!
Ha! Ha! Thank you so much, can't believe you came back to after so many years :)
they (the drums) really responsive with fantastic sound.this is really really good
Great work, I like the tones you've used on the snare and cymbals!
Nice work, and good job on balancing between the song and the drums.
Good job man! Excelent articulation and feel!
Perfect, i enjoy it alot, most importent, i felt it! Thank you
my man jouxplan slaying it again
"I remember saying, 'Okay put up Sting's original demo and I'll show you how crummy it is.' So Sting stood over me and waved me through all the changes. I did just one take, and that became the record. Then Andy did the same thing on the guitar. We just faced the music, bit the bullet, and used Sting's arrangements and demo. Damn."[6]
- Stewart Copeland, Revolver, 2000
Great job! Best cover I've seen!
Beautiful cover!
drops the stick and keeps going, not missing a beat, fantastic. well done man,
I was amazed when I watched it back. Don't know how I kept going. Thank you :)
Thank you so much!
I have been neglecting Police covers for a long time now. I will be trying some more again soon :-)
Realmente extraordinario, una de mis canciones favoritas.
Man you are awesome
Man, thank you!
Nice save! :D Awesome cover, as always, Mr. Jouxplan!
@krisfrench Ah! Ha! Another vote for the V-drums! Thank you!
I think over 90% of you are in favour of the v-drums. Most noticeably, it is the die-hard Genesis fans who tend to be against them. I can understand why. Anyway, for the time being I am afraid I will be sticking to the Roland kit :-)
Glad you enjoyed this video!
Oh my god you are amazing😰😰😰
You dropped your stick, but you still kept going! That was good!!!
@ShaBiCaoNiMa Hello again, and as ever, thank you! Glad you enjoyed this one!
Enjoyed this, as always. The stick flub reminded me of Nick Mason's in "One of These Days" in the Live at Pompeii recording. Both of you had graceful recoveries. :-D
Very very gooooood!!!!!!!! Thank you for this!!!!!
Dope! Right on point, loved it!
I enjoy it same as you, very fun! Keep going
Big Thank you !!!! MERCI !!!!! etant moi meme fan de Police et de Stewart Copeland , je trouve l'execution de ta cover de "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" superbe !!! Ca groove !!!! Félicitations Jouxplan !!!!!!!! very nice !!!! Great !!!!
Exelente , bien tocado y con ganas
Loved it! Well done.
LMAO @ 'the incident'! Happy New Year Alex, look forward to seeing more vids from you.
I enjoyed this greatly.
Brilliant work, Dude. I love watching and LISTENING to your percussion covers. Wow, the Police had some tricky rhythms here and about. Obviously you are disciplined and patient to dial those licks down. Might you be a session musician? If not, you should be! Cheers Sir! Bravo. Bloody well done, and thanks so much for your time to rehearse, practice and record and share online. Very sincerely and respectfully, Mark
Wow, Mark, thank you so much for this comment. It's greatly appreciated. I have been off YT for three years now, and I'm overwhelmed with all the comments I have been missing. I'm slowly going through them all. I am not a session drummer, no! I play live in various bands here in UK and in Germany. I'm going to start uploading stuff again - with my new drums :)
@SCT817 Thank you :-)
It is indeed - a TD20-KX, with an extra tom and two extra cymbals. It's a beauty!
Your faces are funny and awesome... shows how much you're getting into it (Y)
Covering my favourite song of all time. Solid effort, mate.
Kudos on the recovery, also. Hardly missed a beat.
All pro!
