If I had a nickel for every time TrainBoy said “The faces were first sculpted in clay and the resin casts were made from a silicone mold. The eye mechanism ran on two servos, one for up and down movement and one for left and right”…
I wouldn't be surprised if you've seen it, but there's a very good Little England class 009 -scale model from Peco and Kato that's available now, and about to get another run in green. Painting on such a small model is finicky of course, but Duke is basically close enough to Prince so it's only the livery and face missing. Amusingly, Talyllyn has the opposite problem. There was no 009 Talyllyn (Bachman is releasing one for the first time this year) so anyone who wanted one would have to modify a Skarloey for it.
I’m not sure if this series will continue past compilations or have any new installments; they’re not as fun or interesting to me anymore. :/ That may change one day though! They’d definitely have a different format at least
Season four is my favorite series of Thomas and friends and I love all the Narrow Gauge engines especially the beautiful theme music thanks for sharing this great video looking at the history of the models featured in the classic model series 👍❤️🚂
28:11 The Haydn/Handel names also seem to be inspired by the Classical Music composers. Sir Henry Haydn Jones of course was no relation, but when you're trying to name an engine "close" to a real life engine called Sir Haydn, well... Joseph Haydn is a famous composer of Symphonies (he wrote 104 of them), and ... George Handel was a famous composer of Opera, Oratorios and various English patriotic music associated with King George II and III. Handel and Haydn both start with H, have the same amount of syllables, and are both famous composers. They seem like names that just... go together.
i am surprised you havent done a history of bulstrode, hes one of the most mysterious model series' characters ever, and he had so much potential and the crew knew this, it was just strange he never had another role in any other episodes
The CGI era did Duncan so dirty. Not only does he look Like That, he gets the same high, annoying British voice most the other CGI characters got, despite Michael Angelis in particular doing an iconic performance which played a big part in what made Duncan such a fan favourite.
I’d love to see this series come back but maybe instead of covering all the engine and stock you could cover props that have had interesting things happen to them?
I have an idea for a RUclips video I just have this question what Thomas the tank engine and other parts of the show like what were the accident which happened in real life because there’s some accidents which actually happened like when one of the number gauge engines accidentally got the railed that happened in real life once
Now im completely confused, you say Duke is the oldest engine (i dont know if it counts as first engine) the CGI says that Hiro is the first engine on Sodor, then Glynn, who's the first?
It depends more on the lore you choose to follow but I think you’re misunderstanding for Duke? Duke is the first on the Mid-Sodor, that’s a different railway from the NWR. 😅 I personally follow more of the RWS so I think the Coffeepot’s came before anything. (CGI dumbs them down into Glynn but there’s a lot more to them)
Oh god, another "Duke is based on Prince". No offense, but he's more based off just most of the Englands, with Prince being the main focus, but elements from the others. I made a whole rant on Twitter about it (my most viewed Tweet). Palmerston is also definitely the better engine to dress up as Duke, as Prince has been heavily modified
Understandable, I go more for Prince just due to illustration similarities but I see what you’re saying? Illustrations are inconsistent anyway 🧐 (That video is also prob over a year old so it’s not all the most reflective of my current feelings of such, personally I’d go Little Giant just for the fun but that’s for modeling lol)
Here's a fun game: Take a shot every time "sculpted in clay" or "silicon mold" is mentioned in the video
Only if you dislike having your liver‼️🤣

Never get a new one

...You'd have at least 55 cents. Bluebells forever.
Did the freight cars actually die into the ravine 1:07:45
They sunk in the river and were never seen again so yeah
2:12 I wonder if the mid sodor railway coaches had their own names?
Kinda wish Bachmann would release a model of Duke… he’s honestly got to be the best of the Narrow Gauge Engines…

I'm probably going to get dragged for this, but I always preferred the names Stewart and Falcon to Peter Sam and Sir Handel.
Nah homie I’m with you 🫡
Glad to know I'm not the only one 😅
Duke is hands down my favorite narrow gauge engine
Same
Pls do one on coaching stock (versions of express coaches, branch line coaches, etc)!

I like how happy music is just playing after this happens 0:41 lol

I even bought an Ertl Skarloey from Ebay in 2011.

I love the slate trucks i love the slate trucks i love the slate trucks
Duke also appeared in Series 7's "Harold and the Flying Horse"
This is the biggest “The History Of” video you’ve done yet!

Seriously, there is nothing annoying with any voices in Thomas and Friends. Especially all the American and British voices.
you cant possibly talk for an hour about a model slat wagon, then this
How r u all?
I just got some custom Thomas faces for my bachmanns
Could be better
Is good
can 16 mm scale trains even run on O gauge track? Did they make they make the larger narrow gauge models able to run on o gauge track?
personaly smuger and proteus are my favs
BTS photos of Molly’s model are finally out, so maybe Molly and Stanley can be next in this series?
Awesome video trainboy
Duke and rheneas and skarloey is my fav
5:14 I wonder if there could be a story where Duke has two tenders for a while? Just a thought.
There is a fan-made video where your idea happens. I can't remember the exact title though

Hiro was "one" of the first steam engines on sodor. Not necessarily the oldest.
Hiro is a D51, those were built decades later than anything on the NG lines. Hell, all the original cast are older than those too.

Im going from school:)
Duke should've been in the cgi series.
The large scale models of the engines really bug me for some reason. They all look slightly off. I don't know why.
Rusty s large scale model is ugly
Duncan's mouth near his nose is so uncanny for me dawg
