When I make my picadillo, I always make it different ways too depending on who is going to eat it. Some people like it a little soupy, some dry. What I didn't think about doing is adding the different veggies. What a good way to add in what you have in the fridge and not waste any. My 1st MIL used to make hers like a soup. She was from SLP Mexico. But she also made a drier one with carrots and potatoes and would make an Azteca pie or enchiladas with it. She would dip tortillas in enchilada sauce and layer them with the picadillo and sour cream between each layer. And then she would make an even drier one and would stuff the turkey on Thanksgiving with it. Picadillo is so versatile!
Growing up in a large family we did leftovers like this just whats on hand but we called it goulosh or homade hamburger helper lol .. no waste is how we were raised very good recipe and versatile your right.
Just wanted to say, I've been a subscriber for over a year and I've learned a lot from you. I'm a 55 yr old white dude, who's mother didn't believe in women's vs men's work and I've been cooking since childhood. I've always considered myself a good cook but you have helped me take it to another level. Thank You. Shout out to my mother who's revolutionary thinking, especially for the 60's and 70's made me the well-rounded man I am today.
Oh my goodness, Daxx is Sooo precious, he distracted me from commenting in praise of the yummy food! What an adorable mom & son. You are clearly so very proud of each other, exactly as you should be. Women like you do an invaluable public service, in raising little boys to become wonderful men. BRAVO! 👏👏👏
I’m currently sitting at home, 3 days postpartum with my 4th baby wishing I could make this and eat it right now 😭 this looks absolutely delicious!! I can tell it’ll be a family favorite here.

I love your videos so much because cooking for a Mexican man can be difficult not knowing the authentic recipes. I want to cook for him the way he was raised eating so your authentic meal recipes are my favorite so I can cook the food he knows and loves. Thank you xoxo
Thank You from the bottom of my heart. I do not know how to cook at all and I made this meal. To be honest, I was a little bit afraid but your directions were fantastic and really easy to understand. The food tasted like taste and my family actually ate it. I feel like I won an Olympic medal. These videos help people like me so much. Thanks Again and keep up the Great Work!! :)

Hola hermosa. Love a good Picadillo. Love the way you prepare. Looks delicious as all your recipes that I love. Que tengas un muy feliz fin de semana 😊🌷
We just made the picadillo recipe and it is absolutely wonderful. We have been enjoying it for several days and it just gets better. Thanks so much for a great recipe!!
Looks delicious! Will have to try it! I love your son he is so adorable, it’s nice to see he loves his Mommas cooking. Love seeing you both together, and also your husband helping you make the tortillas! Nice looking family! Blessings to all of you!
Anjelica, I grew up in El Paso and even though I'm a guera, (grin) I love homestyle Mexican cooking. I've been watching your videos for quite some time and I just bought your cookbook. I want to support you in any way I can. I was so happy to see Dax in this video. He's adorable! Thank you for your very helpful videos.
I have to say, your videos are getting more professional and better by the month! I think everyone likes seeing you in your youtube vids because it makes it more personable. Another great recipe
Delish! I omitted the zucchini and added frozen peas instead. Canned corn was all I had so I added toward the very end. Added cumin too, AND broke that jalapeño! Spicy!! This recipe is so versatile. Love it.
I make your recipes all the time but forget to comment. I made this recipe tonight and not only was it delicious, but my house smells glorious. My godfather used to make this all the time. I didn’t even know what it was called. When I saw the recipe, I knew this was it. It tasted exactly how I remember him making it. It brought back great memories. My husband went back for seconds and told me that this recipe is definitely a keeper. So thank you. I love your channel.
Long time subscriber here. I absolutely LOVE your channel! Your recipes remind me so much of my Mom and Abuelita (both have passed away) and brings back so many childhood memories! Your husband is a blessed man! Keep the videos coming!
Awesome! I will be making this tonight. I grew up on picadillo and now seek it out. So I would rather make it. Thank you! Your boy definitely is a great reviewer!

I call that Picadillo "Burrito". My Mother used to make those for our family and we loved them as well as your Son did. Really flavorful, I will definitely make some of this.
Very cute that you fed your boy the taco. This looks so good I am stealing this recipe tonight, all I am missing is the corn but it will still be delicious thank you
My grandmother grew a bunch of golden grape tomatoes in her garden and wanted to use them up. So we ended up making this dish, it is super delicious!!❤🍛👍🏽
Love your channel. Making this again tonite. I follow the recipe as you have it listed- but after browning the meat- I cook everything in the instant pot for 10 min on high pressure with quick release. Comes out great every time!
I tried this today and my family loved it. Thanks again for your delicious recipe. True that everyone does it differently but I enjoy trying it especially when I have all the ingredients at home. You are AWESOME 👌. THANK YOU 😊
Thank you so much for this video! I have never made this dish before but with your guidance I was able to follow all your steps and omg my dish came out so delicious I couldn’t believe it lol. The picadillo is now one of my favorite dishes!
Beautiful Child!!!!!! Amazing smile 😀 he is adorable. Y’all sound just alike. Thank you for sharing love 💕 this will do it soon. God Bless your beautiful family.
I was taught the dish was more a soup-like dish. I still make it the way my mom was taught back in the state of Potosi near the city of San Luis. All made with ground beef and the remaining traditional components to the dish. I teach it to my daughters to this day.
Looks really good me tata made it very similar we started using el pato in his later yes cuz the tomato paste was lil to heavy , ur video shot me some memories when nana n tata would make chow for me n all my brothers . As middle class Mexican Americans we also grew up not wasting food so we had to eat what we had until it was all gone ! God bless you and thanks for the video
Thank you for your recipe. And the addition of the jalapeno brought it altogether. Yummy! I did it both as taco and soup the next daddy as its only 2 of us we had leftovers. I did add a bit of chili powder and in my personal cup I added shredded cheese & Frank's hotsauce when I had it as stew. Next time as stew or soup I think peas would taste good as well with biscuits on top and bake it. Was a tasty affordable meal. Loved it! So comforting on the cold days
I love your cooking , I’m 19 and married lol and didn’t know how to cook right even tho I’m Latina ! But with your help my hubby loves it , thanks you 😁😉
I made this tonight and it was 10/10 amazing! I used corn tortillas I already had but oh my gosh I never would have thought all these things would make an amazing taco but the did!
That looks great. I like to make my burritos or with flour tortillas, sometimes I glue them together with a little flour and water, mix it into a paste and make double burritos or soft tacos.
I love picadilio and have wanted to add the flavor of jalapeño without the heat so thanks for that! I need to add squash now that I’ve seen you do it, lol! That’s a great way to get some extra veggies in the kids. Love your channel and I’ve tried several of your recipes with great results! Thank you for sharing. Julie 🥰
My grandfather did the same thing with the jalapeño! He also pickled his with carrots and stored in an old Nescafé coffee jar. He put those on everything, literally!!
I've become one of your Biggest Fans! I just want to say Thank you for putting in the exact ingredients also - so many of these tutorials don't write them down for us and when I ask, they never return my request. So Thank you again - see you next time! I'm going to make your Picadillo tonight for my husband. He will be in Heaven!!
Just made this and it's absolutely delicious!! Used plant-based beef and added a small mushy tomato and it was amazing!! Thanks for the great recipe! 👏
