Thank you for this!! There’s way too many positive review videos, and it seemed kinda fishy to me. I appreciate the honesty and how detailed/in depth you went-definitely will not be wasting almost $400 on that lol
Just out of curiosity are you on the tall side as well and still found it comfortable? I just ordered it but im afraid its not the chair for me given the criticism. Im 6' 3"
You have verbalised very well all of the problems I have with this chair. Good luck with your return/refund, they made my return so awkward that I didn't even bother. I'll just chalk up the wasted money to experience.
Thanks Mark! Happy to hear you found the review helpful :) However not so good to hear they made your return so awkward! What happend? For me the return experience was great and I had no issues with their customer service (which I mentioned in the description). I'd love to hear back from you. Kind regards, Sunny
Awesome to hear you enjoyed the video! Unfortunate that you have the same issues... How tall are you? Sharing the video would be greatly appreciated! Thank you :)
I bought this chair today, your reviews was very understandable, from the 100videos i have watch about this product yours was very accurately and honest which i liked. So i will let you know in few days my experience.
Great review, a lot of common sense. I can't comprehend how the idiots behind the creation of this chair did not think of that stuff or completely ignored the issues for years. To now, the chair did not have any adjustments based on so many reviews. Thank you for one of only few REAL reviews and not the typical fake positive reviews. This is a cheap $200 chair that is hyped to $500.
I live in Portugal and here is not very easy to find good ergo chairs. For this price range ( even tho ppl say its a bit overpriced ) I don't think there is many other options in this price range that give you this quality. I wanted to get the staples hyken but from what I've seen they only sell in the US or CA. Anyways thank you for your honest review. I bought it yesterday and I hope I will enjoy it since I am switching from a gaming chair ( secret labs titan ).
Huge thanks for this review. Its nice to have such a thorough and objective guide. I hope you get your hands on more chairs and make reviews on all of them ! hehe
Fantastic video! I learned so much with it, including why my chair (not the one you are reviewing) started to give me awful lower back pain. Thank you.
I love the chair to be honest but god that stupid lumbar support is so bad. Trying to find a way to remove it.... Edit: For those interested their is a Philips screw at the bottom of the rail that prevent the lumbar support from falling when adjusting it down. To remove it just use a small screw driver or some 90 degree angle screw driver or plier with screw driver bits or ratchet with bits. It does not require any force at all to remove it. Once done push the lumbar support down until it is off the rail, you will see that their is 2 locking pin you can remove them and put them aside with the screw in a secure place. Finally wiggle your way out to the left or right side and then the lumbar support will be removed. PS: If for any reason you struggle with the final step, you can remove all the screw from the rail which will allow you to move it straight up.
Thanks for that! Awesome to hear you enjoy the chair after removing the lumbar support. I am curious though, does the mesh get kind of sloppy where the lumbar support was? (since now it doesn't have anything pushing against it)
I've seen a number of negative reviews, but I haven't seen anything comparable at this price range from those reviewers. Those reviewers are basically comparing the chair to a $1500 Aeron.
Glad you enjoyed the video, and your chair! Definitely a great value chair if it suits you well. How tall are you if you mind me asking? Kind regards, Sunny
What would you recommend as an alternative, though? Unfortunately this chair has a lot of hype because it's in a decent price range, where a lot of the competing chairs are deceiving crap from amazon.
I couldn't tell you sorry. I haven't tried many other chairs from competing brands due to not having hundreds of dollars to spend just for a review. I'd love to review different alternatives in the future though, if the are companies that are willing to loan them for example. Best to read the other comments, there are some experiences from others in there too with different brands/models. Let me know if you find something you're happy with!
It is true it is better suited for smaller people. I got it for my husband (5'11 or 1.80m) and, although otherwise he loved the ergonomics, he always felt it was too short for his home office desk. He ended up giving it to me (5'7 or 1.70m), and it's been nice (it does take some time getting used to, though). However, I find it hard to imagine adjusting it for someone shorter than me, since I already have it mostly set to the "lower" settings.
Thank you for this video, I was about to pull the trigger until I came to the same conclusions you found after looking into Reddit. It seems like all the RUclips videos are paid ads basically and doesn't come across honest.
Glad I could help! I too was really dissapointed in the 'online community' for not being honest or at least hilighting some of the major issues people may have with this chair. Let me know what chair you decide to buy too!
I've had this chair for nearly 4 months now. I have never been more uncomfortable. Going to staples this week to get a 2nd Hyken chair after the first one died after 6 years of service. RIP
@@xxxjdgamingxxx7688 your height should be fine. I'm around 5'8" and the size of the chair was never an issue. The seat cushion was the worst part about it, along with the feeling that I'm always going to fall out of it.
Well, when you see that keyboard and a PC housed basically on a bare bones MoBo tray with back I/O you sorta have a feeling what's coming... Imagine what Wendell from Level1Techs or Buildzoid would say, LOL 😋
Ok regardless of whether I get this chair or not, probably not, I just wanna say you're awesome! I love your dispassionate, calm, clear, well spoken, sweet demeanor! Thank you for making this video! Now, if only I could get someone around the 5 foot 5 (1.70cm) height to sit on it and talk about the cons the same way you did. Subscribing.
@@picb Great review and pretty much one of the only negative reviews I've seen. Everyone else loves it but they are shilling for the company. Thanks for the video!
The cycle: look at gaming chairs. Find one with good ratings. Community says gaming chairs are shit look at ergonomic chairs. Look at ergonomic chairs. Find one with good ratings. A few people say it's terrible. Doubt yourself. Do more research. Community says ergo chairs under $500 are shit. No one provides alternatives to Herman Miller chairs. Now more lost than when I started.
These chairs ain't it chief. I've used these, Aeron, and a wide variety of gaming chairs. This was definitely the worst along with Ikea crap. Cheap gaming chairs were crap as well. Aeron chairs were pretty comfortable, but honestly the arms always feel loose and jiggly. Trying upper tier gaming chairs this month 😑
@@jetjaguar72 I used Aereon chairs at work. Did NOT like them for long hours of use. The chair is basically a basket, and you are hanging in that basket, it does not support your body. After a while of sitting on that basket, the U-shape of the seat starts to push your body to the center and you no longer feel like your weight is evenly distributed on the seat. I need seating with padding. Ordered a Steelcase Gesture, coming in 4 days.
I own this chair since August 2020. I love your lumbar support explanation exactly how i feel it. It wasn't really have good lumbar support. I feel like those cheap $99 office chair in old day have better lumbar support.. My favorite chair would be Humanscale Liberty Freedom. i dont own it but my office have it since 2014. I have been using it. It have better lumbar support.
Bought this chair only to find your video after I put it all together. Initially I liked it except for the lumbar and it was just driving me crazy after a couple of days. So I said F it and got my tool set and took it out. It was a total pain in the rear to get the tiny little screw out because I not only had to disassemble the chair but the screw was at a really weird angle and had to use a mini screw driver. Now I am much happier. Ps I am 6'2 and you are definitely right that this is not a perfect chair but for the price I am okay with my decision. Great video man, I really enjoyed it.
Great review, was looking at this as a cheaper option but think I'm going to splurge and go for the Herman Miller Mirra 2 - had one before briefly and was very happy with it.
The pillow cushion is so thick that it blocks the lower half of the back, making the ergonomics obsolete. I could definitely see that. If you could move the back up that would make a huge difference but you can’t, good job pointing that out.
to be said as I was doing research , at least in Europe under in under 500 usd all chairs basically have quality issues and mechanism issues and things like that, full mesh ones with saggy mesh in few months and so on. Apart from those 1000usd + ones ( or if getting used it can be very good deal ), Im 5,8 , but I feel you tho. The one similar to this, just that can be adjusted fully is Mosh BS-702 , but its mostly being offered in Europe for around 450usd
Many, unfortunately, also aren't fully or properly disclosing (as legally required) that they were sent the chair, for free..... & that they are part of the 'influencer' &/or 'affiliate' program, which.... gets them a commission paid, in return for each & every sale. That bias MUST be disclosed & in a certain way.... to protect the very viewers/customers who, without.... those opportunities, wouldn't even exist to begin with. Something more imho, truly need to keep in mind. Plus, I mean.... integrity. Really sucks imho that the majority, if/when they can.... don't disclose things at ALL. Any connection to, bias or gain, should be made crystal clear... transparent to anyone watching. Thank you for sharing your (actual) HONEST review & thoughts. It is greatly appreciated, esp considering. :) Glad to see you had a good experience w/ refund too. Stay safe & be well.
I wish I had seen this review earlier, I purchased this chair and I have the exact same problem with the lumbar support, I like to sit upright and with this chair this means getting my kidneys stabbed at all times by a thick pillow. It's so bad I am getting back pain after only an hour no matter how I adjust it. This chair is only comfortable if you like to lie back, which is exactly the problem I had with the chair I bought this to replace! Time to deal with the messy process of repackaging it for a return... It came with soo much packing material
Huh... I did not have the same experience as you via assembly. Mine was a breeze and all components worked great. Entire chair assembled in 15 minutes.
Awesome to hear! Even though the assembly didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped, I was willing to accept that (especially at this price point) if it was actually comfortable to use, which I found wasn't the case. If you love the shape then you've got yourself a pretty good deal!
Gosh I wanted to buy this badly and now seeing you're the similar height to me and seeing the problems you encountered just Damm saved me loads of money. Also idk if that's a bigger size chair. Last time I checked was that there were two different sizes a small and big but I'm sure u got the big one
GREAT review. I just bought the chair, my husband assembled and it is sooo NOT comfortable. My neck shoulder and back hurt after sitting in the chair for 1 hour only. wished I could have read your review earlier. But i am returning it. Just a lot of assemble and disassemble T_T
Thank you for this honest video. After seeing this I realize this chair is not for me too as I need the arm rest to go really low so I can slider the chair underneath my desk and I am a short person so I need the chair to be raised as highest possible and have the arm rest underneath the table for max comfort.
I got this after using a cheaper Amazon chair and I like it, but I do well with the stiff cushion some people I think want to sit on pillows, but I find that can cause my hips to get too tight. Though I also use this chair with a footstool so I don't have issues with it tilting forward. Pretty interesting how people react. I know some chair snobs though that won't use anything except Herman Miller, but I'll say this feels like my old office chair when I had to go into an office. As for the price, I do think some reviews don't understand why the price is as is and a year ago the shipping issues made sense. I ordered this year and it took 7 days it would have taken less time, but UPS messed up the delivery. Though I will say I think some of the production may have changed on this chair in a year.
Thank you for your review! It was very useful and truly an honest review. I think the whole discomfort and disappointment that you had is due to the fact that "the chair is made for shorter people and Autonomous didn't specify the height range" for this product. I think what would be best for you would be to try a gamer chair. Although it not truly ergonomic, it is usually built for taller people in mind. That's also the reason why I didn't choose a gamer chair in the first place because of my medium stature.
Yeah, you've got a good point. The height issue, along with the wobbly adjustments make this chair a no-go for me. I've had my eyes on a taller gaming chair like the Secretlab Titan but for that price I think there are better alternatives by smaller brands
Why not try uplift pursuit ergonomic chair from uplift? It supposedly molds the mesh to your back and seat and carved and water fall shape so its more comfy. You can also adjust the height of back seat.
The main problems that I have with this chair is the headrest. I’m 6 foot tall and the headrest doesn’t reach my head. I will have to tilt my head really hard to rest my head on the headrest which that already defeated the purpose of the headrest. And I bought this chair just for the headrest.... I think this chair is for smaller people. My wife is 5’3” and she feels good sitting in that chair. I’ve already got the return label to return this chair.
After watching the Gamer's Nexus reviews I kept this chair on my mind. I came here to expressively say THANK YOU for saving me 500 dollars, a couple of weeks, a lot of pain and inconvenience. I'm so thankful that youtube still allows for this type of videos, more akin to the original website 9 to 12 years ago and that you decided to do this in a well organized, concise and demonstrative manner. I didn't have to go through the entire video but the format of it allowed me to quickly find what I was looing for. EXCELLENT Job!
So heart-warming to read this! When GN's video came out I was honestly shocked that they enjoyed the product, but it's not hard to claim it's good when they're comparing it to other cheap 'gaming' seats.. Either way, really happy to hear my video helped you! Good luck on the search of a new chair, if you find one feel free to let me know! Always good to find underrated designs which most people can afford.
I think it's going to mostly come down to the individual, but like they always say, " you can't please everyone, all of the time". So I guess its the type of chair that is going to make a lot of people content, but like most products, there will always be a portion of customers that will struggle to enjoy the product.
Well said! That's also why their return policy is likely "too good to be true". However, even if the chair fit me well I'd still be dissapointed for the bad build quality and overally wobblyness of the chair.
Very good, I have this chair and I completely agree with you. The height of the arm rests are quite annoying where they lock into place. The spacing is too far apart. I wish there was a way to lower them more like what you said or rotate them upwards.
After watching this review and realizing it's not just me that has a hard time with this chair, I decided to return it. The biggest gripe, I think, would be either the fact that my upper back doesn't sink in far enough to offer the proper support, Or it's the fact that the lumbar support is too small. In order for me to sit in this chair without back pain I have to arch my back well above an inch or 2.5cm from the lumber in order to get the proper support of my upper back. When I get the lumbar just right and I rest my back on the lumbar I feel like I have to force myself to sit up; If I let my muscles relax I just fall forward. The neck rest is useless as well. When I sit in the chair the head rest is like an inch away from the back of my head; it's only usable when leaned back.
This was a thorough and well presented review. 5'10" here! I'm thinking of giving this a try anyway to see if it really is for shorter people. Will update with my experiences if I do.
I have this chair as well and I respect your opinion, but I do not share it. I'm 1.98m tall, just shy of 100kg and I find it rather comfortable. It's not a Herman-Miller of course, but the chair is a complete different price point. Right around the traditional "gaming" chairs, of which one I owned before I got my Ergochair. I must say that the Ergochair is Miles better than the gaming chair in terms of comfort and materials, I don't stick to the chair during summer and the seat is still very cushiony. The lumbar support is perfect for me, again I'd like to iterate on the fact that this is my personal experience, but I do share your frustrations about the headrest... The only time I use it is when I'm leaning back and if I try to use it while sitting straight, I feel like I'm forcing my body in angles that makes me go see a physical therapist. The chair is also a static electricity magnet to the point where I can't work in the chair with shoes on or I'd shock something. In verdict: we're not all created equally. Some people might experience this chair to be the God of chairs, some might wanna return it after a day. It's a, in my honest opinion, good deal in terms of pricing (especially when you see all these gaming chairs around the same price point). It's really up to you whenever you like it or not. P.S. Hallo daar mede Nederlander o/
After only one week of using it, I agree with 95% of what you said. Here my extra bit of information : first bit of information im 6.7ft tall and about 300lb. - the armrest : moving around and not locking is actually nice as you can move them away from you to sit and stand. their position is way too foward! if you slide the seat frontward the armrest follow leaving your elbow kind of just hanging and as soon as you lean a little bit backward it might as well not be there at all. - the seat : its kinda not as cushiony as i would've liked. the fact that it doesnt lock properly is indeed fucking anoying and the most backward lean would be considered the "neutral" position so no way to tilt it more backward. that whole tilting the angle of the seat is completly useless. - back support : the mesh is nice while standing straight only problem is when you want to lean. the shape of the back support makes it that you kind of sink in in the middle making it a bit uncomfortable. the lombard support cant be adjusted high enough. indeed no depth adjustment. no way to move the back support up!!!!!! just this would make this chair so much better. the back lever is completely useless, ive use it to lean backward and thats it. - the headrest : just doesnt go high enought. instead of resting at the bottom of my skull its actually at the base of my neck... pretty much only usefull when leaning back, then again it doesnt go forward enought so its kind of only usefull if you are planning on sleeping in an uncomfortable chair... fun fact : i destroyed the box so im stuck with it
Good review, one thing though: ergnomically you want your armrests exactly the same height as the table to be able to rest your arms on them while typing
Thanks! And yep, that's true. However my issue isn't that they can't go high enough to sit flush with my desk, but that I can't move them low enough to fit under. Sorry if that wasn't made clear.
Bathtub360 all good! Yeah I usually adjust my armrests to fit under the table when I’m not at the desk as well, really annoying that you can’t fit that with the ergo chair. Your review was really the last nail in the coffin for me and I will spend the extra for a Herman Miller and be just happy
Awesome to hear I could help! What model Herman Miller are you going for? I also decided to bite the bullet and almost have enough saved up for one :) Don't know if I'll go for say an Embody or Aeron though, I'll have to try them out and see what I like more. I'm curious to see what you go for ;)
I am leaning towards the Aeron in size B, I am 180cm and 105kg but have really short and muscular legs, the C will have too long base for me. The aeron might not be the most comfortable but the best for your posture most likely
I've been searching a while for a new chair and have decided on the uplift pursuit. I haven't received it yet, but I think it addresses many of your issues with this chair. Similar price as this, but it seems much more ergonomic to me.
@@picb So I received the chair today and have been using it for a few hours. I like it alot, but I dont think it would be useful for anyone taller than me. Im 5'11" and while the lumbar is adjustable by moving the back seat higher, I need to have it all the way up for proper lumbar support. Its really a great chair, but not for taller people unless you can do with lower lumbar support.
@@chrisr5675 You're probably the only other person in existence that's also 5'11" and bought the Pursuit. I've been wanting to buy one, but there aren't many reviews online so I'm still a bit wary. Would you recommend it over the ErgoChair?
@@CaseyHardman I haven't tried the ergochair, but I think the uplift will last you longer. Other chairs I had, the armrests would go first, but on the uplift its some kind of hard grippy rubber/plastic material and i dont see that wearing ever. This whole thing just feels like it will last a while even tho its mostly plastic. BTW after using the chair for a few days I think the backrest doesnt need to go up as high as i had it. I think taller people could use it still. I just wish the headrest could go forward a little. I dont regret getting this over the ergochair.
one of the things that appealed to me about Steelcase was the snap together no tools, and no screws assembly and their 12 year warranty where they'll replace any broken part.
That alone would be a reason for me not to buy it. Snap fittings get loose and fail. You have to either glue or screw stuff together or it won't hold...
As a smaller person who has had this chair for about 6 months, I can tell you this chair is NOT for smaller people. The minimum height of the chair is 18.5 inches (according to my ruler), where competitors chairs go down to about 16 or 17. And the seat on this chair is hard as a rock, meaning you have to put additional cushioning on top of it, making it even higher. What you said about "washers being too small and falling into the hole" - I never had that problem and it makes me wonder if you put it together incorrectly. However, I did have to remove the washers on one side (where the seat connects to the mechanism) because the seat was otherwise not level.
Thanks for the comment! I think it's great to get mini 'reviews' like yours in here :D What I said about the washers was a small detail and if you assemble the chair like it is upright you won't have the issue, it was just a bad start of the experience where I could tell some things clearly weren't developed right. How tall are you exactly? Thanks, Sunny
I bought this chair, unfortunately had pretty quickly comfort issues with the cushion. They shipped a new one but did not improve the comfort. The cushion is actually too soft so you quickly reach the plastic base which is painful. They made me a 10pct discount but declined to take the chair back as it was delivered more than 30 days ago. I would not recommend this chair at all, far too expensive for what it is.
I'm a tall guy (6 foot 2 inch 150lbs ) and I decided to give it a try because of the 1 month trial period. Also, I bought a "racing chair" 2 years ago and I'm really unhappy with it. I would expect a 500$ chair to be confortable and put me in a normal sitting position.
I understand that for a taller person the chair is a big compromise but if your just an average male is it recommendable? Because its really hard to find a ergonomic chair for less than 500 $, taking into account I'm from Europe and its hard to find a good chair at a reasonable amount and also there's a lot less availability
Sorry, I really can't say xD Every person is different so you might love it or hate it just like me. The only option is to try it out. Do you have an IKEA near you? If so, try out their new VALLFJÄLLET. It came out a few weeks ago so there aren't any reviews out yet, but that shouldn't be needed since you can try it out in store :) Let me know if you've found something too! I'm still on the hunt for a new chair so if you find something you like I might give it a go too.
I just bought this chair and assembled it and hated it as soon as I sat in it. I am only 5'9" ... the main issue is the lumbar support is so obtrusive into my back. It actually hurts my lower back to sit in it, I have a 20 year old office chair that I would rather sit in. Disappointed in this chair and glad I am not the only one.
i bought this chair several months ago and wanted badly to like it. Most expensive chair I ever bought. I share your opinion of it... it's lacking in function and I hurt when I sit in it for long periods. Unfortunately the packaging is long gone and it's been more than 30 days. I'll be trying to shlep it on the used market soon I guess.
I am 5"11 and I sit with the seat closer to the back of the chair, lowering the lumbar pillow to the lowest part of the curve of my spine. Locking the lumbar in default so it wont move with the backrest. I leave the back loose and unlocked and sit back on it allowing it to keep me afloat. Feels like im on a cloud, so many ways to adjust this chair did you try like this? Are you getting another new chair?
Hey Joe! Thanks for the comment I tried keeping the back loose but didn't like how it didn't apply any pressure to my back. Glad to hear it works for you. I'll definitely be getting another chair, just don't know what one yet xD Might save up for an Aeron, or if someone recommends a different budget chair I'd be happy to give it a go :)
I'd be interested to know the height, from floor to the under side of your desk top. That way I could check how it would go with my desk, which is either 65cm or 70cm from the ground, depending on which desk I'm using. I'm weighing up between the Ergochair 2 and the Ergohuman Plus Elite. Not sure where you bought your Ergochair 2 from, as I couldn't figure out which country you might be in. I think you nailed it when you said it's no good for someone 6'3", I'm 5'10, so maybe it would just be okay. Great review and time stamps, thank you!
Hey bld, I try to respond to as many comments as possible, which pretty much ends up being every single one 😄 The bottom of my desk (which is the height that the armrests would have to be lower than to fit under) is 72cm from the floor. The chair could not fit under that at the max seat height and lowest armrest height possible, which made it really annoying since you'd have to change the height of the chair every time you want to sit in it. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll do my best to help :D
@@picb Thank you! I've liked three of your videos, all very helpful. : ) Could you comment on how supportive/comfortable the bottom cushion support is, as another reviewer said it bottomed out easily, like you could feel the hard base underneath the cushion. Otherwise, great to see a reviewer that is honest and helpful.
No worries! It probably depends on your weight too. I think I'm around 80kg and the cushion felt fine for me. Is it a little on the firm side? Yes, but you'll get that with almost every seat made from foam in this price range. I only tried the chair out for a few days before sending it back and I didn't feel it bottom out, but that may become an issue if: a) you're heavier b) over time the foam gets squashed into a thinner form. c) you sit in the chair for longer periods of time in one go (without breaks). This is generally bad for health anyway, so if you're starting to feel it bottom out after sitting for 6 hours straight it's a helpful reminder to stand up, streach and take a walk for a few minutes before returning back. As always, I hope this helps and feel free to ask any other questions or join the Discord :)
Agreed with the review but Id have to reference your point on JaysTwoCentz. He did also say it wasn’t perfect. I’m in agreement in this sense of both of you.. its decent but its not perfect. The problem is good chairs are very expensive. My Herman at work is great but its hard to justify the price tag so one does not have many options unless they’re buying used.
Thank you very much for your words on this chair. Also a 1,90m (6,2 feet) guy who just decided to not buy this chair after watching reviews on this and other chairs and others for hours. Maybe you can write up your height somewhere in the description.
@@niklast.7099, a friend of mine (in Germany) bought the 'Interstuhl JOYCEis3' and he really likes it. There are heaps of smaller country specific brands (especially in Germany) so if you look for something less known but still very reputable it could work out since I assume the prices would be lower then too
I spent literally 2 days watching and reading all those positive reviews and finally found an honest and very detailed review. Thank you so much! I also am 190cm (6'2") and 95kg (210lbs). I also am looking for a chair. Did you find one? I'm between the 2022 Evo Softweave (it is a Gaming-Chair, but it doesn’t have a Racing style bucket seat) or an office chair.
Glad to hear the video helped you! I haven't found a suitable replacement in the same budget yet, so I'm starting to save for an Aeron or similar high end chair. Let me know if you find something too! I'm always interested in hearing what else there is on the market :)
HI, When you are talking about the height of sitting being to low (around 5:40 or so) ... actually I can tell that the height of chair is to high for you. So how it should be set to lets say being "optimal" position you ask ? when you put your foots on ground and your legs (bellow knee to above knee)should be 90 degrees and also you should no see effect of seat front edge to press your legs (a little but still) as I can see (its unhealthy). Im going to the point that when you lower your chair a little bit to optimal position you should sit more firm and cozy and also fit under your desk with no problem :).
These kind of chairs used to be only less than $200. But they probably thought "hey, if they can sell those gaming chairs for $500 above, we can, too, yeah?"
15 mins and bam I was done. Never had an issue assembling the chair. But again, I just use power tools. The hand tool the give you is nice. But I had a bit that would work for the screws
I wish I had seen this review before, I got the chair a few days back but I can't live with this lumbar pillow thing which I cannot move in and out. My back has been hurting from the lumbar pillow thing.
@@picb Yes, I am planning on returning it and contacted the customer support. Maybe some people have a more curved spinal cord and don't feel the lumbar pillow but it just doesn't work for me. I think they really need to work on a screw kind of thing to push the lumbar pillow in and out a little. I have seen that in some chairs. I have the chair packed up again and waiting for the RMA number.
@@shankerdutt378 yeah, I got mine with a lumbar support that can't move as well. I ended up adding some lubricate and it started to work. There is just not enought attention to details that they put into this char. But still I would say for this price, u can't really get anything better, so I ended up keeping the chair.
@@fernandong9576 I think you misunderstood my comment, what I meant was that in my case the lumbar support was pushing into my back. Moving it up or down didn't help. What I wish is that I could move the lumbar support pillow to move back(away from the chair) by itself without moving the whole back. I thought about unscrewing it and then somehow shortening it by an inch or so but its a brand new chair, so I am working with customer support to return it. The Kinn chair doesn't have that lumbar pillow, so that might be a better buy.
@@shankerdutt378 ahh, I get it. Well at least u got a chair that is working the at it should be. Mine came out of the box with a lumbar support that won't move an inch. So I had to add lubricate myself. They are just handling it very sloppy u know
Thanks for your time and effort on this video, it is very informative and saved me a big headache. But I'm curious as to what chair you decided to buy and keep?
Hey Dee, awesome to hear I could help! Glad I saved you some trouble 😄 As for your question, I'm waiting for the right time to buy an Aeron or similar high-end chair. I'm sick of cheap shit by now... for the time being I've been using a surprisingly good foam padded chair I got for free which was made in 2002. Goes to show good designs age well 😉 Cheers, Sunny
Thank you. I was considering buying one, but was reluctant to buy one without trying first. Many You-Tubers are sponsored, so of course they are giving the chair a good review. Did you find a chair you like? I tried an Aeron chair. I thought it was decent, but I didn't play with the adjustments much. I didn't think it was worth $1,300.00 (US). Now looking at a Steelcase.
Glad I could help! I completely agree. Since this incident, I've definitely lost my trust with almost every random 'techtuber' reviewing whatever gets sent their way. I haven't gotten a permanent replacement yet, however I'll be trying out some Herman Miller chairs soon to see what I like. I've had my eyes on the Aeron for a while now, so thinking of biting the (expensive) bullet and getting a quality product in return. I've heard from many people that it took them a few weeks to get comfortable in their Aeron due to it correcting their posture which after years of 'incorrectly' sitting can be a massive change. I'll also definitely try out what Steelcase has to offer. They've got some high quality chairs too, and seem to be Herman Miller's main rivals when comparing office chairs. Be sure to let me know what you end up going for! Like I said in the video, everyone is different. So trying a chair first hand is miles more important than what someone says on the internet. Best of wishes, Sunny
@@picb As an Aeron owner it definitely takes some getting used to. The mesh is quite hard at first and needs a break-in period. Additionally figuring out how to adjust everything properly can be a painful process of trial and error. I was trying to use the forward tilt function since I paid extra for it, turns out that was what was causing the bulk of my back discomfort. If you do go that route feel free to save the money and avoid that "feature" imo. Also I think I had the lumbar support dialed in too aggressively. Like you after messing around looking for cheaper alternatives I just got fed up with chair shopping and decided to bite the bullet. Spending that amount of money on a chair was hard to justify. However after getting everything dialed in and having used it for about a year it is hard to complain. Which for me, as a natural cheapskate dropping $1300 on a chair, is a pretty remarkable feat. Its really only when I had to go through the process of chair shopping all over again for for my girlfriend that I realized, it was money well spent. Personally I wasn't considering steelcase offerings. Simply because I don't expect foam + fabric to hold up as well over time as mesh. And in this price range, I don't want to have to buy another chair for a looooong ass time. I always recommend people look for something cheaper. But if you use your chair a lot, and have the money, an Aeron isn't a bad bet. Their reputation is legendary for a reason.
@@nerdstrangler4804 Thanks for the comment! Couldn't have said it better myself. Glad to hear you're happy with your Aeron! When I spec mine I might skip on the forward tilt feature then, but I'll be sure to test it in advance ;) Hope you found the video useful! Cheers, Sunny
You forget to say that the cushion of the seat goes down to the plywood after a couple or hours of use and then you but starts to hurt, also what chair do you have right now?
I just bought this chair and now this review appears in my recommendations after searches extensively for reviews, found good ones and I ordered it. Bloody RUclips. I’m 6’7, so I hope this doesn’t suck for me.
That's just the way it works 😄 I'd love to hear what you think of it when it arrives. If you don't like it then their return policy is a life saver. That's also the reason why I bought it, and was really excited for it. Almost every review is insanely positive which I don't understand
@@picb I sent it back the moment it arrived. Didn’t want to risk it not going back in the box for me. I have opted instead for the Titan Secretlabs chair. Already arrived and it is fantastic. I have no idea why so many people speak so positively. Further research into reddit has people saying it is terrible. Total bull. Again, thank you. You saved my back and my wallet.
For anyone willing to spend 300 to 400$ I highly suggest buying a steelcase leap v2. I got mine for 300$ used, am 6'2 (give or take 200 lbs), I've owned many "gaming" chairs over the years and it's by far the best chair I've ever sat in.
If only there was a great chair that doesn't break or have any weird flaws after a few months, and for a decent price ( so not $1000+ lol). I can only dream I guess
They're probably out there, but they just don't have the immense marketing budget that other companies have advertise their products. In Dutch there's a beautiful saying "Goedkoop is duurkoop", roughly translated to "buying something that's cheap is usually more expensive" and I think that's really fitting with consumer products like chairs.
you can score great Herman Miller or Steelcase used chairs looking online, for used office furniture. Companies sell their used office equipment at very good prices.
Have same issues with mine. Seat is loose and squeaky is my impression, seat foam compresses too much, arm rests only lock up and down (not forward/back, in/out). Should have bought a used high quality chair, (Steelcase, Herman Miller, Icon) or a Global Ibex #MVL2823.
I bought this chair myself and let me just tell you guys now, DONT BUY it.. these are my issues with it: -smelled horrible when it came in (for a week at least) -lumbar support is wack, adjustable yes but it never felt right. and as stupid as it might sound, I spent at least an hour and a half total just trying to set it right and it doesn’t help that it was difficult to adjust and would sometimes slide on its own. Trust me, I tried EVERYTHING(multiple different combinations and I never found something and what’s worst is my lower back actually started to hurt) -the seat cushion looks well padded but it soon starts to feel painful. I’m 5”7 and about 165 pounds(chubby) and that seat made me reevaluate why I wanted another chair in the first place(I didn’t want any more butt pain) and don’t listen to the bullshit “it needs time to break in” bullshit! -it wobbles because of all the different adjustments. not a deal breaker but it just feels cheap, and it’s a little noisy and it feels like that shit is gonna break within a year -arm rests don’t lock and are hard scores a 9/10 for looks but with all those cons combined with the price?? combined with the fact that I’ve tried to contact them for a refund twice only for them to not respond a week after??? Is this a joke? worst customer service experience I’ve EVER had, period. I bought a table from them as well but had I known this was how my experience was gonna turn out I woulda bought a standing desk from another company. my advice is to stop falling for these reviews that recommend products telling you to use their promo code. You want a chair? look elsewhere. don’t drop over $200 on this.
Good quality video. For the full retail I’d probably steer away but I just found the black and white version in a pawn shop new in box for 250. That may be worth the risk. 😂
Thank you for this!! There’s way too many positive review videos, and it seemed kinda fishy to me. I appreciate the honesty and how detailed/in depth you went-definitely will not be wasting almost $400 on that lol

Thank you so much for this. I keep seeing recommendations but it just didn't look worth hundreds of dollars to me. Glad to see some thorough feedback.

Jesus christ, thank you for the heads up
I love the chair to be honest but god that stupid lumbar support is so bad.
(since now it doesn't have anything pushing against it)
@@picb I would have to compare to other mesh chair without lumbar support but so far it feel like a regular chair.
I wish I saw this comment months ago, the lumbar support is criminal.
I've seen a number of negative reviews, but I haven't seen anything comparable at this price range from those reviewers. Those reviewers are basically comparing the chair to a $1500 Aeron.
I own and love my ergo2, but thank you for the detailed review.
Glad you enjoyed the video, and your chair! Definitely a great value chair if it suits you well.

Hello, did you ever find a good alternative?
Not in this price range sorry. I'm currently looking into Aeron or Steelcase offerings.
@@picb I don't recommend the steelcase leap V2 just to save you from wasting time. The back and seat do not have enough cushion.
Exactly. It's not perfect, but it's essentially the only halfway decent choice that won't homicide your bank account. It's overall a good chair!

Aweome to hear I could help, enjoy your new Mirra!
Im 5’7’’ and this chair is the best for me, sorry it was not good for you man; hope you find something better.
Great to hear you're happy with it!
The pillow cushion is so thick that it blocks the lower half of the back, making the ergonomics obsolete. I could definitely see that. If you could move the back up that would make a huge difference but you can’t, good job pointing that out.
Awesome to hear I could help!
to be said as I was doing research , at least in Europe under in under 500 usd all chairs basically have quality issues and mechanism issues and things like that, full mesh ones with saggy mesh in few months and so on.
Hey Oscar! Happy to hear I could help!
From my knowledge (and their website) there aren't two sizes. Where did you see that listed?
GREAT review. I just bought the chair, my husband assembled and it is sooo NOT comfortable. My neck shoulder and back hurt after sitting in the chair for 1 hour only. wished I could have read your review earlier. But i am returning it. Just a lot of assemble and disassemble T_T
Thank you! Unfortunate you have to send it back, but their support was great in my experience. Let me know how it goes!
what chair did you end up with? currently looking around
Thank you for this honest video. After seeing this I realize this chair is not for me too as I need the arm rest to go really low so I can slider the chair underneath my desk and I am a short person so I need the chair to be raised as highest possible and have the arm rest underneath the table for max comfort.
Glad to hear I could help!
Exactly the issues I was afraid that this chair would have. Many thank's
Awesome to hear I could help!
Why not try uplift pursuit ergonomic chair from uplift? It supposedly molds the mesh to your back and seat and carved and water fall shape so its more comfy. You can also adjust the height of back seat.
I'd be keen to give it a try, but unfortunately they don't offer free returns in Europe making it a risky endeavour for me.
@@picb try quantum workpro 9000 then
The main problems that I have with this chair is the headrest.
Exactly the same problems I had. Glad you found the review useful!
Let me know how the return process goes for you!
@@picb Just got my packing slip and my return is a go. Only took maybe few hours after leaving a voicemail.
This was a thorough and well presented review.

Here my extra bit of information :
first bit of information im 6.7ft tall and about 300lb.
- the headrest : just doesnt go high enought. instead of resting at the bottom of my skull its actually at the base of my neck... pretty much only usefull when leaning back, then again it doesnt go forward enought so its kind of only usefull if you are planning on sleeping in an uncomfortable chair...
fun fact : i destroyed the box so im stuck with it
Thank you! You saved me C$700 today.. I almost took the leap of faith.. Thanks again!
Ended up getting the avochair from them instead of this one because of your video, i’m very pleased with that one.
Happy to hear you found the review useful!
Nice, definitely let me know what you think of it!
Thanks for letting me know! Glad you like it :D
They raised the price of this chair from 299 to 499 🤣🤣
Haha, that's hilarious 🤣
I think it's great to get mini 'reviews' like yours in here :D
What I said about the washers was a small detail and if you assemble the chair like it is upright you won't have the issue, it was just a bad start of the experience where I could tell some things clearly weren't developed right.
How tall are you exactly?
Thanks,
Sunny
I bought this chair, unfortunately had pretty quickly comfort issues with the cushion. They shipped a new one but did not improve the comfort. The cushion is actually too soft so you quickly reach the plastic base which is painful.
They made me a 10pct discount but declined to take the chair back as it was delivered more than 30 days ago.
I would not recommend this chair at all, far too expensive for what it is.
Bedankt voor de video man, had bijna de stoel gekocht. Welke heb je uiteindelijk gekocht?
TY for the review. There measurements on their site are also super weird. I'm 5'9 and not sure wether this will be a good seat.
It came out a few weeks ago so there aren't any reviews out yet, but that shouldn't be needed since you can try it out in store :)
Let me know if you've found something too! I'm still on the hunt for a new chair so if you find something you like I might give it a go too.
Thank you so much for the detailed review! I think I will pass on this and go with something else..(due to unadjustable backrest height, and headrest)
Hey Joe! Thanks for the comment
I tried keeping the back loose but didn't like how it didn't apply any pressure to my back. Glad to hear it works for you.
I'll definitely be getting another chair, just don't know what one yet xD
Might save up for an Aeron, or if someone recommends a different budget chair I'd be happy to give it a go :)
I think the main problem is that that chair is too small for you. You need a chair (and desk) appropriate for your height.
That, and the poor build quality with parts that move way too much and click when in a locked position.
Hey bld, I try to respond to as many comments as possible, which pretty much ends up being every single one 😄
The bottom of my desk (which is the height that the armrests would have to be lower than to fit under) is 72cm from the floor.
I only tried the chair out for a few days before sending it back and I didn't feel it bottom out, but that may become an issue if:
a) you're heavier
b) over time the foam gets squashed into a thinner form.
c) you sit in the chair for longer periods of time in one go (without breaks).
Realpy happy to hear I could help! Great idea! I'll add it now. Let me know what chair you decide to buy and what you think of it!
Same problem for me i'm 190cm too but have a very long torso also
Do you guys know a better alternative ?
@@niklast.7099 Not necessarily, what country are you in?
@@picb Germany
@@niklast.7099, a friend of mine (in Germany) bought the 'Interstuhl JOYCEis3' and he really likes it. There are heaps of smaller country specific brands (especially in Germany) so if you look for something less known but still very reputable it could work out since I assume the prices would be lower then too
Thank you 🌷🌷
Glad to hear you found it helpful!
Hey, nice video, love honest reviews. Btw, did you find a decent chair since the making of this video?
Glad to hear the video helped you! I haven't found a suitable replacement in the same budget yet, so I'm starting to save for an Aeron or similar high end chair. Let me know if you find something too! I'm always interested in hearing what else there is on the market :)
Was just going to click at 'Place Order'. Came here and passed it on. So expensive and faulted!
Awesome to hear the video helped you! Thanks for sharing
That's annoying 😄 Are you going to return the chair? Let me know your experience with the customer service if you do!
Glad I saved you some trouble 😄
As for your question, I'm waiting for the right time to buy an Aeron or similar high-end chair. I'm sick of cheap shit by now... for the time being I've been using a surprisingly good foam padded chair I got for free which was made in 2002. Goes to show good designs age well 😉
Cheers,
Sunny
Hey I'm around your height, have you found an alternative chair around the same price point?
wish i saw this review.... I'm about a year in on my ergochair 2 and the thing is falling apart
Best of wishes,
Sunny
When I spec mine I might skip on the forward tilt feature then, but I'll be sure to test it in advance ;)
Hope you found the video useful!
Cheers,
Sunny
I bought this chair myself and let me just tell you guys now, DONT BUY it.. these are my issues with it:
-smelled horrible when it came in (for a week at least)
-lumbar support is wack, adjustable yes but it never felt right. and as stupid as it might sound, I spent at least an hour and a half total just trying to set it right and it doesn’t help that it was difficult to adjust and would sometimes slide on its own. Trust me, I tried EVERYTHING(multiple different combinations and I never found something and what’s worst is my lower back actually started to hurt)
-the seat cushion looks well padded but it soon starts to feel painful. I’m 5”7 and about 165 pounds(chubby) and that seat made me reevaluate why I wanted another chair in the first place(I didn’t want any more butt pain) and don’t listen to the bullshit “it needs time to break in” bullshit!
-it wobbles because of all the different adjustments. not a deal breaker but it just feels cheap, and it’s a little noisy and it feels like that shit is gonna break within a year
-arm rests don’t lock and are hard
scores a 9/10 for looks but with all those cons combined with the price?? combined with the fact that I’ve tried to contact them for a refund twice only for them to not respond a week after??? Is this a joke? worst customer service experience I’ve EVER had, period. I bought a table from them as well but had I known this was how my experience was gonna turn out I woulda bought a standing desk from another company. my advice is to stop falling for these reviews that recommend products telling you to use their promo code. You want a chair? look elsewhere. don’t drop over $200 on this.
Well I'm 5'6. I'm gonna try it
Let me know what you think of it! WIth their great return policy (check if it's the same in your countryt) it's hard to go wrong!
thanks for the review, almost bought one based on the hyped reviews
So what chair do you recommend?
Good quality video. For the full retail I’d probably steer away but I just found the black and white version in a pawn shop new in box for 250. That may be worth the risk. 😂
Glad to hear! The benefit of buying it from Autonomous directly is their refund policy, allowing you to return the chair if you don't like it.
