Grunts have been getting all the attention lately, but what about the marines?
13th edition to the series! IWHBYD (I Would Have Been Your Daddy) skull was used to gather up rare quotes. Sadly I couldn't get all of the dialogue to trigger due to the randomness.

I love how every single one of them absolutely LOATHES the Unbound Plasma Pistol.
One of them just switched to a different gun in front of the Cheif.
They'll gladly drop most non-primary weapons quickly. They'll lose that, the Needler, the Mangler... Anything that isn't a rifle or power weapon, usually.
@@tallynnyntyg6008 That happened to me when I wanted to borrow the rocket pretty quick. Just used one rocket to kill a Jackal for them. Turned around and replaced my Mangler with a Sentinel Beam.... I kept the Rocket.
Yeah it's so weird when that gun is actually better then the stock plasma pistol!

For all my problems with Infinite, I love how 343 turned that into a running gag. I like when developers can laugh at themselves.

I heard a marine say: "How does daylight work in this place anyway?" It made me burst out laughing and It made me rethink the entire game series. Like yeah, it's a ring how does it work? Lmao
HA. I never heard that one before. Another one I heard was the marines referencing Tartarus as tartar sauce and the Banished as a metal band name. But unfortunately, I wasn't recording at the time and couldn't get it to trigger again.
I watched enough sci-fi to know that I shouldn’t question things like that. I just act like I understand everything even when I actually don’t understand anything.
The book "Ringworld" by Larry Niven does a really cool job of explaining how day / night cycles could work on a ring-world. His involved a sun in the center and a series of plates between the sun and the ring that rotate and cast shadows on different parts of the ring. The book was also definitely an inspiration for the halo series!

Sun's light goes past the outer/closest part of the ring and hits the inner/further part.
One that caught me completely off guard was one of the male marines screaming "please don't let me die to a grunt" or something like that
Lol. One that had me cracking up was when one of the marines referred to a brute as a "space monkey bear" or something like that. Doesn't seem the funny reading it but it must've been the way he said it or something lol.
I drove off a cliff with two marines. First one says “Woooo! Do that again!” Second one says something like, “Gold medal for the best Olympic driver goes to… us!”

I like how half of them arent afraid to insult chief, or question whats going on, and the other half are completely terrified of him.

@@piratekingthaszar7912he’s in the Navy hence his nickname being Master Chief. Naval Special Warfare and the Marine Corps do joint operations together through as well as provide security and work as an expeditionary force for ships.

a lot of these actually happen without the skull active, makes me think that they just become multiple times more common with the skull
If it's like the older games (and i'm remembering the older games correctly), IWHBYD reverses line rarity rather than adding new lines. The wacky dialogue is always there, it's just about as rare as serious dialogue becomes with IWHBYD on.
Another line I heard a marine say was something like "I hope I don't have to see another one of these damn rings for the rest of my life" lmao
Unfortunately for him, he’s probably gonna have to. If he decides to keep being a space marine, that is.

5:51 I played this on legendary and when I heard my marines say this and then one said "OUTSTANDING!" after that, I lost my shit and laughed so hard, that my son woke up.
The delay was worth it for the marine lines, I haven't seen a game have this much in almost a decade
I wish you could have an encounter where the banished attacked the FOB when you were at it, then you could fight alongside marines in a defensive conflict and you could see them adapt to the fight.
Far Cry 4 has a feature like that. I’m not sure if you can or can’t lose any outposts you’ve captured even if you don’t help defend them though. I know you can’t lose them if you die while defending them.

This game has more different voice lines than the last Far Cry and Elder Scrolls Games i've played in the last 5 years. It's mind-blowing to me!!!

My favorite line is a Marine to an Elite "I would ask whose your daddy, but I know you have no idea!". This is an incredible insult and such a reference to the fact that most Elite aristocrats just pump and dump so they're all raised by their Uncle
UNSC Marines are damn cool.
They are not like US Marines, or better, they are like US Marines but they came from all Earth nations and colonies too.
That's what I like of the UNSC and UEG.
The UNSC marines are less… *special* than the US marines, funny joke from Army to Marines

The normal answer would have been Special Forces, but Army soldiers tends to reply with “Marines”
You’d be surprised how diverse the Corps is. It was like Aliens which is what these marines are based off of.

Im glad they finally brought back character into the marines and grunts. Helps especially when there are very few main characters when compared to the older games

My only regret is that you didn’t include the Tartarsauce quote. It’s one of my favorite lines in halo, right up there with Johnson’s “Dear Humanity” speech.

I love how they thank Chief for giving them more efficient weapons. Sometimes they do their job with such guns better than players.
I made a long jump on a warthog and one of the female marines started moaning cause it felt “good” it took me off guard.
