  • Come inside Matt's brand new boat! Look under the locker lids at how he stores his tackle and what he's really got tied on his rods! We know people are curious about the new Skeeter so today Matt is giving a full tour of the boat, a breakdown of why he picked the Skeeter FXR21, how he sets the layout of a new boat, and a bunch of other great tackle storage tips!
    Tackle storage is complicated! Storing it at home is one thing but getting all your gear to fit in the boat or in a backpack is a whole different challenge. As Matt opens up his new boat and explains his layout pay close attention to the tackle that he carries on board the bass boat and how it differs from his smaller aluminum boat. From boat balance to bait management, there is a lot to consider when loading your boat!
    Below you'll find links to the Electronics on Matt's boat, the tackle storage solutions he uses on board, as well as his jet boat tackle storage components. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

      @@tacticalbassin Well in all fairness "Keeping it simple" means different things to different folks. To some it means tell me the best color. To us with the illness, it means only 3-4 colors in each category ( shad representation, craw, goby/sculpin, and transparent and mat finish) and obviously for clear water, stain and chocolate milk)! 🤣 So yeah...I had thought about starting a RUclips channel of just doing tackle order box openings. I realized the other day I have well over 400 jerkbaits. When you put me on Karashi's I ordered 10, out the gate cause there's all the MB colors I just have to have. Its a fun sickness.😆 Glad my wife doesn't read the comments.

    Your storage set up is how it should be, so many people don't understand how weight distribution works and how important that really is. You have more tackle in your boat than I do in my entire arsenal, I love it! Another great video.

    • @jeffthebean1
      @jeffthebean1 Год назад +1

      Coming from the kayak world for the last five or so years-weigh distribution is everything. Some folks with boats don’t think about it until they have two buddies in the boat with their gear, and then you’re just kinda stuck for the day.

    • @c.shoefish
      @c.shoefish Год назад +1

      @@jeffthebean1 yeah absolutely. In my boat, when I'm by myself I actually throw a 50 lbs bag of sand in the back bilge area to help performance because of where I had to put my trolling motor batteries. Before, it was too stern heavy and towed like shit (performance was great by myself, but if anyone was with me, it was too much) so I moved my batts towards the bow and it tows better (more tongue weight) and performs better when someone is with me. My boat is actually faster with someone else with me in the boat, which is all due to weight distribution

    After I started buying higher end baits when I switched out my tackle boxes because I didn’t want anything to rust. I’ve got a compartment full of Plano edge boxes now for my hard baits and they have been great!! I don’t have as much tackle as Matt but enough to fill the compartment up with a small amount of space left so my boxes would slide a little bit cause the inner compartment is plastic so I took the rubber anti-fugitive mats from harbor freight and cut them and put them in the bottom of the compartment and now my boxes don’t slide and it’s also makes it more quite if you drop your boxes in it cause they ain’t slamming into that hard plastic bottom and making that loud thump sound through the boat. Just a cheap tip for anyone that might have the same problem.

    Awesome stuff Matt. Here's a question/idea I don't think you guys ever addressed. How do you store 3 boats at your home? What kinds of ideas do you have for home storage of boats in general. There is a big expense for keeping our boats inside an enclosed area. Love to see you guys home set ups as well.

    Only thing missing in that day bag is a top water, buzz bait, maybe a walking bait, but other then that, it's set's up nice

    Thanks for the plug on Wisconsin roads. Apparently you drive the same way on roads as you do in shallow water. Next time take one of the 2 paved roads that we have. Lol

    Awesome boat!! I think I would end up just looking at my graphs all day long, lol. There's something special about jet boats and river fishing for me. Thier just the ultimate atv of a fishing boat. Sending it over a sand bank or logs in the river to get where no one goes, all to get to wild fish. If I hit the lottery I'm buying dozens of river bank properties through out the country, sticking trailers on them and stashing jet boats at them. I'll use the rivers as my roads.

    Hey Matt. I've been wanting to get my first boat, and end my struggle fishing the finger lakes up here in New York from a kayak. After this video I think you convinced me a used first boat may be the way to go. After all you just got your first new one! The cost of a new one is really pricey, as you well know. Thanks for your used boat videos you've done. I plan on watching them over multiple more times. Hey travel North some time, a state record smallie was just caught last year 50 miles away on Cayuga!

      Hi Bill! Used is DEFINITELY the way to go! There are so many options that save 10's of thousands of dollars and don't give up anything. I say all the time that Cobras are the most overlooked boat in the game. They went out of business before all the crazy price hikes began so they remain extremely affordable and they're Solid for the money. I ran one for years until it was totalled in my wreck and I went back to Champion. 👍🏼

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  Год назад +2

      Not this time of year in the mtns of Tennessee, that comes later. Bjzzbaits are tough... I've stored them in deep boxes, shallow boxes, jig boxes, etc... and never truly been happy. The main problem is I use double buzz a lot and there just isn't a storage solution.

      It's all relative, those are bigger than what I have on my jet and wayyyy bigger than my Helix 7 on the Kayak. We strive to meet everyone where they are, so for the fully rigged and dialed bass boat, we went BIG.
