    Thanks for all the details in your video. It's making it hard for me not to buy this keyboard and continue down the keyboard modding rabbit hole!!!

      Glad I can share some information with good folk, but I must warn you, we almost all fall into the rabbit hole once we get close enough!

    Would've been nice to have the stock/moded comparaison with the same switch.
    But still a great mod thanks for the video it was very informative

    I know this videos quite old, but I still have a question :) I wonder how much case clearance this board has. I though you didn't pour that much silicone in, is that because that's all it could take in order to close it properly? I'm thinking about getting this board and stuffing like my old mouse pad (4mm height) in to reduce any hollowness xD I still didn't like the sound too much even after modding, so I wonder if it will sound ok with more "stuff" in it and gateron milky yellows. Otherwise I'd probably go with akko silent fairys... thanks in advance

      I don't remember exactly but the case is angled and if I had to guess it goes from about 3 mm to about 1 mm at the lowest point in the front.

    What timing for you posting this! Just bought the Black one with Blue switches from Amazon UK on their prime day - this will be my first "mod-able Mech Keyboard"
    Do you think just the silicone mod and the tape on the back of the PCB will help it massively?
    and should i be looking at replacing the keycaps as you state theyre pretty naff 😂 (also any recommendations on cheapo keycaps?)

    • @MechKeyboards
      @MechKeyboards  2 года назад +1

      Yes, even just foam helps, but silicone or butyl rubber mats will take away the hollow. The tape and the PE foam will make her pop.
      As far as keycaps goes, there are so many. DO you like the profile (height and shape) of the keys that come with the X77? Those are OEM. Other nice taller cap profiles are SA, ASA, MT3, CSA. There are also flat profiles, like XDA (short) or DSA (taller), and then you have Cherry profile, which is shorter than OEM but similar.
      Once you figure out your profile and colorway, many go with black perfectly, then perhaps we can find you a you an affordable set!

    Great video :) Does this keyboard have a solid static white backlight option?

    • @MechKeyboards
      @MechKeyboards  2 года назад

      Yes, it does. I'd be hard pressed to think of an RGB kit that does not allow solid colors, including white.

      @@MechKeyboards I tried everything and the only static colours are the ones used in those eye-cancer inducing hectic effects. So, the pretty warm yellow comes closest to pure white. I kinda like working on it. It's the least irritating.

    Help please!
    I've got the X77, and since quite a while the far right LED is lit and won't ever turn off. Stupid me has lost the user manual, so I don't even know what that light is supposed to tell us, or how to switch it off again. Thx for your assistance. ;)

    when you do the tape mode and poke the holes for the pins can you just press down the switch to make the wholes?

    • @MechKeyboards
      @MechKeyboards  2 года назад

      I thought so too. Think I'm going to go back and re-mod the first X77s I did, as I've learned muchh since!
