    Thank you! Sprained that exact area playing volleyball and have only been able to find tutorials on how to wrap the joint that connects to the wrist instead. Sweet relief

    Mines not from a sports injury but trialing concrete all day after years of not doing it. The mind can always push the body further than what it should be push sometimes

    Hi mate, thanks for the vid! The taping works well. I’m a volleyball player so I’ve had a recurring thumb sprain issue for years. It’s been on and off but it took a proper whack yesterday and hurts the next day which it doesn’t normally do. Do you reckon I should keep it taped up for every training to stop it happening again?

      Taping helps but if it keeps being painful then get it checked

    I’ve snapped the outside ligament of my right thumb 3 times and broke the joint where the thumb and first finger joint come together on same hand. I stopped playing RL cos I was worried I’d do it again, it’s been 4-5 years since I played and the thumb feels unstable if I push it laterally (from inside of body to outside of body direction)
    I’m gonna have one last go at playing footy and use this taping hopefully it holds 🙏

    When I do it I feel like my thumb can get snapped off if I'm not careful, maybe I'm doing it too tight or too high up?

    Is there any wrapping required for a sprained thumb knuckle? My chest freezer lid fell down on my thumb. As I tried to stop it, it caught the tip of my fingernail and pulled it backward. The bruising and swelling is on my thumb pad. (my thumb print) Nothing feels broken.

    • @physiorehab

      Perhaps a finger splint might be better in this case

    a fell wrestling. Although I thought it was minor it's still tender and I've been favoring it for over 3 months. I wonder why it takes so long. Will it heal naturally? I have a splint which I got at the local pharmacy. I wonder if it is too soft and not restrictive enough

      Thumbs can take ages. If it’s not progressing perhaps get some imaging done

    Can you use KT tape for support after this type of thumb injury?

    • @physiorehab
      @physiorehab  2 года назад +1

      I would use rigid first then downgrade to KT as it improves and needs some but less support

    Do you have something like this for the thumb CMC joint? I first injured by thumb MCP (skier’s thumb) and developed instability in the MCP. That seems to make my already hypermobile joints even worse and now my CMC my thumb CMC pops out the back when I grab anything. It’s especially bad when I use my pincer grasp.

    • @physiorehab
      @physiorehab  Год назад +1

      You may need a plastic moulded splint for that one

      @@physiorehab thank you so much for replying! I did try an off the shelf plastic splint a while back but it turns out my hands hypermobile and the strap across the palm caused problems. I’m actually going to see a hand therapist tomorrow and I’m hoping to get a ridged plastic splint made.

      @@physiorehab tell him, lol. I have recently developed dequervains tenosynovitis and have received local 'physio' from the hospital (uk.) However, this video was incredibly more informative than their guidance with regards to 'offloading tendons' and why my brace will be helpful beyond restricting movement. When dealing with injuries, it seems most important to understand *how* you can listen to your body, and this breakdown is very beneficial. Thanks.
