Surprise day driving a 1969 Renault 16TS Rally Car: My day at Rally Retro with Bob’s Champion car

In this video, I had the opportunity to drive a piece of rally history: the 1969 Renault 16ts that Bob Watson drove to victory in the Victorian Championship that same year. It was an incredible experience to get behind the wheel of a car with such a rich rally heritage.
Bob Watson was kind enough to lend me the car for the day at Rally Retro, a vintage rally event that celebrates the history of the sport. Bob put me at ease with his encouragement to "just rev it hard and thrash it, it loves to rev!"
As I drove the Renault 16ts through the course, I couldn't help but think It was a true honour to drive a car that had seen so much rally success in its time.
The Renault 16ts itself was a joy to drive, with its nimble handling and enthusiastic free reving engine. I was amazed at how well it still performed after all these years. It truly is a testament to the quality of engineering that went into these classic rally cars.
