How many miles out are you? I love the electric reel, saves your back! I have used them in AK, 400' down, 6 pounds of lead, and my best is 121 pound halibut.
Thanks for showing how you rigged the herring for halibut. Metal leaders, not mono. Looks shorter too, less tangles probably. Was out on Friday in front of rock pile, used only 2.5 lbs of lead, NOT ENOUGH. Did you only drift with current, no motor use? Gotta learn more fast at 5.50 gallon for fuel before it would be cheaper to just buy a fillet. Thanks again and a fellow viewer gave me 4 of your clips. I knew you used and sold them but was amazed how strong they are. Will buy some now! Stay safe on No Collusion... Bill
Awesome 👍 I actually buy the leaders at the store at the dock and I rarely back troll I like to used enough weight. So I don't have to Thank for the support!!
Man what a flat ocean! We didn't have conditions like that last time I was up there. Don't let the haters get you down, electric reels are the only way I'll fish for halibut, they're just jealous they don't have them lol.
I like seeing someone fishing halibut by themselves. Wondering what you do if you get a really big one. Shooting them before you get them in the boat makes sense (although a hand gun seems safer) Do you drag it through the transom door, or do you lift it into the boat by yourself? I would love to fish this way myself and not need anyone else.
awesome vid, i love fishing and this is way cool. i love deep sea boats and fishing, and to be honest im just a big boat kinda person. love the vids keep it up :)
I think they're pretty much the same thing dolphins apparently are more sleek have a longer noses according to what I researched Also I don't think dolphins are in this area so they were porpoises I just never seen them with gray and white normally they're all almost black
I actually buy the metal wires leader ones I don't make those but I do make the ones I use for lingcod 150 lb test I just haven't taken the time yet to make some extras
Your life is awesome bud that's for sure
Awesome videos, hopefully you'll get back in the water

@@richstiefel Such a great channel for info, fishing and marine biology! Now I know too, have seen them closer inshore.
Good job Rich.
Love those inshore buffet days!
I wish i had a boat like that to fish out of
For sure! I did a lot of wishing for a long time and finally I got one!

Also, when you see the dolphins, doesn't that mean you may be near some tuna?
I like the shotgun because it a longer reach and I use a single shot so I don't have to worry about any accidental

Congrats on that awesome Halibut! I hope to catch one of those someday. So Rich, when are you going to offer your Halibut Jig at Trumper Fishing?
I actually buy the metal wires leader ones I don't make those but I do make the ones I use for lingcod 150 lb test

I need to figure out how to fish for halibut.
We can catch halibut and rockfish on the same day now?
Until June you could
1st
Oh ok
smashed
Are you fishing the thumb with the masses, Rich?
👍👍👍
😄👍
Wd40 will take that squeak away
You go by yourself?? No fishing buddy’s ?
95% time I prefer to go by myself
Due to my high stress job
And dealing with many all-day 😬😂😣🤯🤣
Fishing by myself was a great mental reset😎😁
@@richstiefel yeah sometimes it is like that, get away from everyone and have your own time
@@westcoastfishing5016 yeah nothing better than talking to yourself
Alone on the Ocean 🌊
Lol
Why don't you just hire someone to reel in your fish it would be cheaper ,I hope you maintain your boat better than your gear
Electric is the only way to go.
