Japanese people eat tons of fish, but they don't eat it RAW if it is not killed with ikejime. In Japanese supermarket, raw fish is separated from broiling fish corner.
From my observation as a neighbouring Korean national, Japanese people seem to eat curry more often than sashimi (=raw fish) unless one lives in remote islands such as Ogasawara and Hachijo Jima. I was so relieved to find that during my visits to Tokyo for business and pleasure since I am a meat-loving person who has never been grandly fond of raw fish unlike the vast majority of my fellow Koreans. lol
Wrong. My japanese girlfriend take me, the "gaijin" boyfriend, to help her choose a fish for sashimi at the fish market. She now started to identify a few fish species by the look, not the label on the supermarket. Will take a few more decades for her to ask for fish dispatched with ikejime 😂
But.... but that would have made it harder to promote the ikejime method.... Since that was the purpose of the video 🙄 They clearly where trying to prove a point and not intending to lose 😅
Meh there’s very little agenda here, since it’s quite impossible to do this on a mass produced scale atm. however maybe if you can learn to do it for personal fishing it’d be great, besides taste is subjective regardless and they clearly showed that it lasts much longer without rotting.
yeah ive been doing a similar method for a long time but i just do the first step and put it on ice but theres been times where ive missed several times and basically just tortured the poor thing
Easy step 1 anastesia the less stress the more tender 2. A quick easy snap 3. Break the spinalcord 4. Chop off the head or insert a Spike through the soft spot
Everyone should practice Ikejime. It's a respectful way of killing an other organism for giving us food to survive, ( it's respecting that they died so that we survive ) and it tastes good and rots slower.
We don’t need animals to survive so therefore we are killing fish unnecessarily. Definition of humane is to show compassion and benevolence, I wouldn’t say any kind of killing is done compassionately or with benevolence
And... you completely missed the point... or I completely missed the joke. If the former... then there is no joke to be had. If the latter... then it went over my own head.

I LOOKED UP “King of New York” AND THIS CAME UP
you should have given the fish to the vox producer in a "blinded" way so she doesn't know what she's eating
It's not objective. Look when she tastes the 2 week ikejima, they immediately cut away.
But.... but that would have made it harder to promote the ikejime method.... Since that was the purpose of the video 🙄
They clearly where trying to prove a point and not intending to lose 😅
Meh there’s very little agenda here, since it’s quite impossible to do this on a mass produced scale atm. however maybe if you can learn to do it for personal fishing it’d be great, besides taste is subjective regardless and they clearly showed that it lasts much longer without rotting.
Welcome to Vox and pushing agendas.
I was waiting for the fish to say “aeügh”
I was thinking of that video 😂 They missed off the fact that you have to feed it a carrot.

I dont want lead in my food.
Everyone should practice Ikejime. It's a respectful way of killing an other organism for giving us food to survive, ( it's respecting that they died so that we survive ) and it tastes good and rots slower.
i agree👍🏻👍🏻
Agreed. I think it's just cruel to let a fish suffocate like that.
We don’t need animals to survive so therefore we are killing fish unnecessarily. Definition of humane is to show compassion and benevolence, I wouldn’t say any kind of killing is done compassionately or with benevolence

Because you're taking a life away, even if it's not painful is a life
@Im Shur tell that to the millions of vegans in the world
@Im Shur plants dont have feelings and dont feel pain, if you knew science you would know that
@@jordy65056 In the 17th century, humans said that animals do not feel pain as they lack consciousness. Even up to the 1980s, researchers were not sure whether animals' felt pain. What makes you so sure that your view that plants do not feel pain is absolute and unquestionable?
