- My latest Serum preset pack called 'Cinematic Creations' has been released on Black Octopus Sound. This time it's filled with sounds inspired by movie soundtracks and sounds from blockbuster films. In this video we take an in-depth look at the preset pack and I'll show you how these presets sound.

Nice
Hey Artfx I heard from a lot of producers that serum is the best vst synthesizer, but what other synthesizer is as good as serum. Rfx nexus, Sylenth1, spire. what do you think
- ReFX Nexus is a ROMpler, meaning it plays back samples and it's not a full fledged synth.
- Sylenth1 is a pretty basic subtractive synth with very limited capabilities imo
- Spire is a cool synth that has wavetable synthesis and frequency modulation, however it's much more limited than Serum.
At the moment the closest synth to Serum would be NI Massive or Waves Codex. However in Massive you can't make your own wavetables and Serum has a much bigger user base than Codex. So at the moment I don't think there is a more complete synth than Serum.
you're missing synths like U-He Hive, Z3TA, Omnisphere (1 and 2), MPowerSynth, Tone 2 Electra2, Araucann, Sytrus, Harmor and many more.
Nexus, Sylenth, Spire, Massive and Serum are pretty much the 'basic bitch starbucks' tier of synths (crudely said).
There's plenty of sick synths.
Serum is honestly one of the most basic synths on the market as of now. it definitely is super easy to use and the UI design is near perfect, but I often find myself grabbing for other synths for specific purposes because either it's a hassle to do in Serum (I'm looking at you arps, stepped sequencing and the lot) or just flat out impossible (2+ oscilator sounds that may or may not involve RM and FM).
PalmMute Serum pretty much does better than all of the other synths. Omnisphere has a lot of presets and you can make so much out of one preset, but it's not as versatile as serum.
This is great but I really want that Ableton skin.

To be honest this library is no more cinematic than the sounds which can be created by any analogue /digital synth ..they sound ok 👍 but they definitely are not cinematic..the violin and leads are shockingly uninspiring ...the brass is terrible.🥶
Have you studied movie composing..? These aren't cinematic sounds.. cool sounds yes... but I didn't hear 1 that would/could be used for cinematic. Cinematic is more tailored around Bass Arp's and low tone organic/pucks with motion..
That just depends on what film score you listen to, just as like with regular music there's a wide variety in different kinds of film music.
damn, some of these were made in 2014
Those are the factory presets you are talking about.
oh lol, i thought you have been working on this since 2014 haha
No hahaha :) It took me a little less than that.
