Great video, good insight into practical application of the commands in a real life scenario. I will make note of the commands you use but was wondering if it will help your channel if you posted the commands in your video description, you obviously don't have to as you already are doing a good job. All the best going forward. Thank you.
Very helpful video, thanks for the video. Considering the situation, it is understandable that camera will be shaking. Still got to know the stack switch working. Also, wanted to know one thing, if we place, say switch #6 in the stack, will the config be copied into it from the master switch #1, or do we need to manually do the config for switch #6?
Thank you! If you replace switch #6, you just need it to be the same IOS version and licence level as the stack (LAN Base/IP Base/..), and the switch priority is 1 (and Master is the highest), you connect it to the stack, and it should join and take the configs. If #6 has a different version, then run the command "request platform software package install autoupgrade" on the master, it will detect the IOS version that is not compatible and upgrade it.
Wa alaikom essalam brother. Unfortunately I don't have access to Cisco switches anymore. This link explains the bundle mode: content.cisco.com/chapter.sjs?uri=/searchable/chapter/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/Denali_16-1/ConfigExamples_Technotes/Config_Examples/Misc/qos/m_install_vs_bundle.html.xml Let me know if you have any questions.
@@AliYounesGo4IT jazak allha khairean brother..really we appreciate your work and the way of your videos really helpful to us.please post more like this..thanks for the link sharing..! and i have one doubt in production stack if i want to add one more switch..should i power off all the switches except active switch ?!
Obrigado!
I’m not sure if you mentioned if all these 3850s are the same type, I mean same part number. Can you mix for instance a WS-C3850-48P and a WS-C3850-12X48U-S in the same stack?, and does this process apply to overcome a version mismatch?. Thank you
The switches are all the same model, and yes this helps overcome the version-mismatch situation. I never stacked different 3850s models together, but I found this statement on a Cisco document: "the Catalyst 3850 hardware provides flexibility for mix-mode support between 48‑, 24-, and 12-port systems in single stack ring." The only consideration I noticed on another document is the ASIC chips number in one stack. The WS-C3850-12X48U-S stack can have 32 ASIC chips maximum, so 8 switches of this model, or a mix of models that will have maximum of 32 ASIC chips. for more info: www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3850/hardware/installation/guide/b_c3850_hig/b_c3850_hig_chapter_010.html#concept_122E0751515841E1861ED98667EA237C www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-3850-series-switches/white-paper-c11-734429.html
Hi Ali, do you perhaps have any tips on. Upgrading the config from stacked WS-C3750X-48PS-S to WS-C3850-48P-S - Apologies as my question don't directly relate to this video and o could not find anywhere else to ask. Thank you.
Some of the commands will be a little different because of the newer IOS. I say if you have the new 3850 switches, get the master switch ready and configured, you will have to adjust the different commands to work, provision the same number of switches in the stack, and replace them after hours. Good luck!
What happen if the new switches that join the stack having higher version than the stack master? Can it be downgraded using this method or i need to do it manually?
Yes, but make sure the new switch has a priority of 1 and the master of the stack is 15 or else the whole stack will come up with no configs, and take a backup just in case :)
Just found your channel. Thank you for all of the great stuff on here. Hope you keep making more!
Glad you like the videos!
